Chapter 536 High-Risk Plan
“What is going on? Why are we being recalled here?” Alavenya asked while looking around, finding Selena and Sera on the side.
“Oh. You’re back.” Sera waved her hand with a smile on her face.
“What is going on?” Alavenya asked. She had rushed back as quickly as possible, but there were only two of them yet.
Sera shrugged. “We have discussed it previously. The situation has just turned bad. I don’t even know what will happen after this. Maybe a warrior class alien will appear next?”
“Don’t jinx it.”
“I’m not jinxing it anymore. I’m cursing it at this point.” Sera sighed.
Alavenya blinked a few times as she recalled what they said previously. They had grown so accustomed that they could joke about it.
One by one, the summoner had returned to the main area, waiting for the war minister and Nathan, who hadn’t come out yet.
“Did something happen to them?” Selena squinted her eyes.
“Should we enter the tunnel? Nathan realized it first, so he must go to the war minister.” Sera asked with a serious face.
“Yeah. We should.” Selena nodded in agreement. But before they re-entered, Fenrir suddenly appeared in their vision and jumped over them.
“What are you two girls doing? Blocking my path? Do you want to be crushed by me?” Fenrir snarled.
“Sir…” The commander and the vice commander saluted. However, worries were plastered all over their faces.
The war minister nodded. “Please come. It appears that all the main summoners have returned. I will be explaining the situation.”
The war minister personally explained the condition of the tunnel and their suspicion as well as the risk of continuing the expedition. At the same time, they needed to be warned regarding the devastation that would follow if they retreated.
“This…” The captain sucked a cold breath. “We can’t split them like this. What if we abandon some tunnels? Still, going back will take a few hours and there’s no way the rest of the soldiers can catch up to the group in front.”
Matthew nodded. “Hence, I’m planning to change my plan. Or more like, we will be dealing with this situation with his plan.” Matthew glanced at Nathan.
Nathan took a step forward. “As you can see, our situation is already bad enough. We can’t retreat, but going recklessly will result in the aliens wiping us out.
“In addition, we don’t have enough summoners to ensure the success of the expedition. Hence, we first have to push forward and continue with the original mission. Read new chapters at empire
“However, the current situation can’t allow us to let all the groups have one main summoner.
“As a result, we’ll be having Minister Matthew continue on the middle path. He will be accompanied by the vice commander, Mr. Edward, and Mr. Tusk. Your job is the most important.
“The fact that the middle path has five tunnels, which is one more than the other paths. One of those tunnels might be the pilot tunnel, which means they are their original plan. In other words, the nest you will fight is on a different level.
“The left side will be handled by the commander, Mr. Gard, and Mr. Welling. Your place will be closer to the base in the Liaystian Kingdom. With your authority as the first commander of the royal army, you should be able to gain their cooperation.
“The right side will be handled by me and the girls. We have been fighting together and going on a mission like this, which means we can fight together better. Our combat ability is the worst because none of us is at the Grandmaster level, but if we fight together, we should be strong enough to rival a warrior class alien.
“Our job is to gain cooperation from the base on the left side of our kingdom’s frontline. We’ll work together and head to Minister Matthew’s location and close the tunnel with them.
“Because of the location, Minister Matthew will end up becoming their focus, so please be careful. Also, we need to get some soldiers from the reserve army to bolster their power.”
After listening to his plan, the first one to give a disagreement was the commander.
He slammed the table while shouting, “We’re continuing the mission? Do you know that you have made the minister of war the bait, right? Not only that, but your plan is putting Her Highness Flora in a dangerous situation. This is…”
As someone from the royal army, his priority wasn’t the frontline but the people affiliated with the royal family and court.
He could understand, but Matthew immediately waved his hand. “Do as you’re told. This is the safest plan we have right now. As I mentioned before, the moment we retreat, we end up exposing the kingdom to a huge danger. Waiting for reinforcement is not an option either. Her Highness Flora should have realized the situation she is in the moment she comes here.
“I’m sorry, Your Highness. However, I have to make this decision based on what is more beneficial for the kingdom. If you hold any grudge against me, I’m ready to offer my head once we return.”
Flora shook her head. “It’s fine. At a time like this, everyone is expected to risk their life, including me. Before I’m a princess, I’m also a person of the Azilia Kingdom.”
Matthew nodded. “In that case, do as you’re told. From this point onward, we’ll be having three leaders: me, Commander Steven, and Nathan. Anyone who won’t follow orders will be judged in the martial court.”
Nathan’s expression turned grim. “We originally sent 6,500 people in 13 groups, leaving 3,500 people here. However, we will now break the reserve army and have 2,000 people reinforce the middle group and 500 people to reinforce the left and right sides respectively.
“The remaining people will set up a defense line here. Have the messenger tell the palace to inform other kingdoms regarding this information. We might not be the only ones facing this threat, so we can’t have other kingdoms collapse as well. Investigate the area between the two kingdoms.”
