Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts
Chapter 1970: Contract With Apep
Apep’s body was severely weakened after this attack.
Xolotl couldn’t help but glance at Anubis. "Your realm was almost destroyed by this guy?"
He thought this wasn’t really a hard victory.
Anubis explained, "First, he didn’t have his true god power. Second, the team was different. Third, Nathan."
"We all don’t have true god power right now. Well, Nathan did control our team. He basically tried to make a dream team. And third... Okay, fine. You’ve made your point."
"..." Anubis just looked away.
With Nathan as the reason, they dropped everything else. Nathan was probably the only one who could make this happen. He skillfully controlled the flow of the battle, and the way he utilized his power was different from any gods they had made.
It felt like Nathan utilized his power in a similar way to Yog-Sothoth.
For Nathan, that was a compliment. He just believed that if he wanted to defeat a monster, he had to be one too.
The familiars surrounded Apep as Nathan finally returned to this universe.
Nathan looked up. "Apophis..."
"You..." Apep was struggling as Fenrir stood on top of his head while Kun pressed him down with the rest forming a barrier to withstand their weight.
Nathan simply said, "You are now a familiar."
"Do you think you can control me?"
"No. I don’t think I can control you, nor do I intend to." Nathan shook his head.
"..." Apep squinted, wondering what he meant.
Nathan raised one finger. "You do realize that you are a familiar now, my familiar. If you kill me, you’re dead too."
"I don’t care."
"Yeah, you do care." Nathan smiled. "You should know about the project I’m currently working on."
"I don’t plan to help you fight the black cell."
"No, you do. Because rather than controlling you, I prefer to have a trade with you."
"A trade? Do you think you can fool me?"
"Fooling you or not is not really a concern, not in front of the Soul Contract." Nathan formed a Soul Contract. "Let’s have it this way. If I summon you, you will help me solve the trouble at that time. If you do so, I will allow you to challenge me again."
"I can simply attack you. I don’t care about anything else."
"I say you do, because if you defeat me, I will make your body. This way, you will be able to exist again... as a true individual."
"You still can’t create it."
"Maybe, maybe not. The theory is already there. All I need is just a bit more progress to create it." Nathan nodded, showing his confidence. "If you defeat me for the second time, I will use my own karma so that your soul can take shape in your new body. Defeating me thrice means I will be freeing you. I will use my own karma to sever the summoning link so that you can live freely.
"At that time, I won’t be able to control what you do. You can try to kill me again. You have... defeated me three times, after all. Killing me shouldn’t be that hard for you at that point."
"..." Apep fell silent. This was definitely a tempting offer. If he had won three times, he would fully resurrect. At that time, no one could control him.
During that time, he would have to first defeat Nathan. It was clear that Nathan was more troublesome than Ra, not because of his prowess but because of his brain. 𝖿𝖗ⅇℴ𝑚
Still, the chance was there.
Apep was contemplating. He knew that fighting Nathan alone wouldn’t be possible. Even if Nathan agreed, the other familiars wouldn’t agree. In the end, they might request Nathan to never call him again.
While it was true that Nathan would be wasting his ena for summoning him, he didn’t exactly want to stay inside without having any chance at all.
Hence, Apep answered after pondering his choice for a minute. "Fine. I will need to see the contract."
Nathan started drafting the contract.
The request was simple. If Apep was summoned, he would help Nathan first. He wasn’t allowed to attack Nathan.
Once he was done helping him, he would return to recover his stamina. Once he was fully recovered, Nathan would summon him again and let him try to attack him again.
The three victories clause had also been added in detail, showing that Nathan didn’t intend to trick him.
Apep squinted. "What’s with the ’I need to go back first before I can challenge you’ clause?"
"It’s pretty simple. This way, you won’t hold back when helping me. I can’t afford to ask you for help when you are just going to conserve your energy and wait for the right chance to defeat me. So, I intend to neutralize the threat first and let you challenge me next time."
It was a reasonable clause, since Nathan didn’t want to get backstabbed in the middle of the fight.
"Fine."
Nathan nodded. "That’s all. If you think this is fair, sign it."
Apep leaned closer before suddenly launching himself toward Nathan as if he wanted to swallow Nathan.
"!!!" The familiars panicked and rushed to stop Apep, but Apep suddenly stopped.
Nathan didn’t even have a change of expression.
"What’s wrong? I’m kidding." Apep sneered, looking at the other familiars. "I guess you have what it takes to be my summoner. Be glad that you have that honor."
Nathan chuckled. "Well, I don’t care what you’re up to. Just know that if you cross the line, I’m going to strip you of everything, including your immortality."
"Hmph." Apep harrumphed and channeled his power, using the blood he had spilled to sign the contract.
"You should know the Soul Contract. No parties can’t violate it, not because the other party can compensate but because it’s using karma so that no one can violate it." Nathan nodded.
"I know that."
Nathan then raised one finger. "In that case, I need you to answer my questions. You attacked me, so it’s time for you to pay for that."
"What? We haven’t signed the contract before."
"I have shown you my sincerity, it’s time for you to show yours."
"..." Apep saw the cold gaze in Nathan’s eyes. Nathan knew how risky it was to summon Apophis, which was why he didn’t intend to treat him kindly. "Fine. However, I will only tell you one thing because it’s not in the contract. It’s just part of the sincerity."
"Fine." Nathan accepted it. "Tell me about the Dark Dimension or the Great Void."
