Chapter 1206: Escaping the Suspicion
Chapter 1206: Escaping the Suspicion
Nathan laid the map on the floor. He marked several places with all the information Johnson provided.
After a few hours, Nathan decided to re-summon his familiars. Fenrir stayed in pistol form while Mae assisted him with everything.
“We have got the list of merchants, including the types of merchants.” Mae furrowed her eyebrows. “What are you trying to do, Master?”
“Well, we are merchants, so I might as well act like one.” Nathan smiled, staring at a few names. “I need to borrow your shapeshift for a bit longer, Mae.”
“I don’t mind that, but it might cost you a lot of ena, Master.”
“It’s fine. The ena doesn’t go anywhere. It will just go to you. Because of this, I have to adjust my plan slightly.
“I won’t just master the three manuals, but I also want to make everyone have at least a million ena, including me.”
“I understand. I will support you in any way I can. Actually, if you want to purchase things, you can get a discount, you know?”
Nathan’s eyebrows twitched. “No. I might be using shapeshift, but I still have my dignity. Besides, I have enough money to buy anything I want, so you don’t have to worry about it.”
Mae only smiled.
“…”
Three days later.
“I want them all.” Nathan, in female form, crossed his arms and legs while looking at the middle-aged manager.
The manager was stupefied. “Are you sure you want all these minerals?”
“Do I need to repeat myself?”
“No. I will prepare everything right away.”
“Mr. Bolt. Since there are a lot of items, I’m afraid I don’t have enough carriage. Is there a good place to acquire another one?”
“If you want, I can provide you one as well, Miss Kaelina.” The manager smiled.
“I see. In that case, I will rely on you.” Nathan nodded.
The manager rushed outside, while Nathan sighed.
Fenrir, who was staying in pistol form hidden behind him, couldn’t help but speak. “So, you want minerals, huh?”
“Yeah. As for the carriage, I will leave it to you, Fenrir.”
“Do you want me to pull the carriage? It is too eye-catching.”
“Of course not. I want you to talk to the horse or pressure it to do its job. I have no idea how to ride one.”
“Fair enough. You can leave it to me then. Just a normal horse, it won’t be hard. So, what’s the next destination?”
“Although I want to go to the Empire right now, I’m planning to head to another city first. There is an auction.”
“An auction?”
Nathan nodded. “The auction sells lots of things. Although I don’t have the list of their items, I’m thinking about joining the auction. It will be a slight detour from our original destination, but it should be fine to join the auction. A few local nobles will be there, so I want to hear the rumors circulating within the dynasty right now.”
“I can’t see what you’re going to do, but I guess you have a plan, so I will trust that plan. If there’s any danger, I will inform you right away.”
“Thanks.”
After a moment, the manager returned to the room, giving a report of everything.
He even ordered his men to load everything onto the carriage.
“Everything has been handled. I hope it’s to your liking, Miss Kaelina.” The manager smiled.
Nathan nodded. “Indeed. It looks like Honey Bear is a great merchant group. I would love to use your service again in the future.”
“Thank you very much.” The manager politely lowered his head as the carriage started to move.
Nathan couldn’t help but mutter, ’The economy has truly fallen. If it were during the normal economy, all these minerals would be worth 100 million, but right now, they’re only 30 million, including the horse and carriage.
’No. Maybe my judgment has been distorted so much that I think this is not a huge amount of money.’
Nathan shook his head helplessly. He got 18 billion from selling 3,000 devices after all. So, a few tens of millions was definitely not worth his attention. And it wasn’t like he was going to hold on to this money after leaving this continent.
With the addition of the money Neyeid would soon receive as a broker from the empire, they definitely would have a hard time spending the money later.
Nevertheless, Nathan headed outside the city after receiving everything.
Not far away from him, the Death Society members were observing him.
“We have got the report about the Lantern and Candle merchant group. They are a medium-sized merchant group. Their background is a bit unclear, but they have connections to several nobles,” informed Fated.
“So, the merchant group exists…” Soul Devourer frowned.
“It exists. Also, we received information about the cloud-repelling device. The dynasty is gathering a lot of minerals.”
“It looks like she wasn’t lying. They were trying to procure the metals for the cloud-repelling devices.”
“Most likely. The price of the minerals will increase, the mining might even restart, and the economy will recover to a certain degree. Hence, it won’t be weird for them to acquire as many minerals as possible and sell them to earn some money.”
“Still, don’t you think it’s weird that the woman doesn’t have a carriage? Instead, she relies on this city to provide a carriage for her.”
“I don’t think so. Traveling in a carriage is problematic due to the ash cloud. Because of the economic downfall, it might cost less if a summoner just goes on foot and returns with a carriage.”
“So, there’s nothing suspicious about her?”
“From my point of view, yes.” Fated nodded.
“Can you do another divination to see if our target is moving or not?”
“Sure.” Fated opened the map again, but the position remained inside the city even though Nathan had left.
After seeing this result, Soul Devourer had no choice but to believe her words. He crossed ’Kaelina’ on his list. “This means there are only two more suspicious people left. He must be one of them.”
Little did he know, in Nathan’s previous room, the bed was actually shining. But it wasn’t the bed. It was something underneath it.
It was actually Nathan’s contract.
[In exchange for 10,000 ena, the contract shall manifest and become Nathan Reckmoon for two days.]
