Chapter 1133 - 1133: Not Alone
“The portal… What do we need to reach the portal?”
Cthulhu shook his head. “That question shouldn’t be answered by me.”
“What do you mean?”
“Haven’t I told you what my role is?”
“Ah!” Nathan’s eyes were wide open. That was right. Cthulhu called himself a messenger. Meanwhile, the other four aliens were supposed to be the guides. “Don’t tell me…”
“That’s right. The guide’s mission is not only to guide you to me but also to our race. Since you are going to bring that person back to your continent, you can ask him to guide you there.
“Besides, you can find out about our world a bit more from a certain portal and find where you should go after arriving at our world.”
Cthulhu was basically saying that Nathan should persuade this alien as well. Then again, they would most likely form a cooperation, considering he was an alien that could activate Cthulhu’s sigil.
Although he didn’t know whether the 1,000 elite class aliens would come or not, the threat still remained.
Hence, Nathan didn’t argue with Cthulhu. “I understand. In that case, I shall do it your way.”
“That’s good. If you don’t have any more questions, why don’t you enjoy the scenery of the city?”
“Is there even something good?” Nathan asked. “I’m rather curious about the vault of the city.”
Cthulhu shook his head. “There’s nothing left there. All the Old Ones have awakened. This city has become an empty city.”
Nathan shrugged. “Then, there’s nothing worth seeing. Still, the others are not thinking the same thing, so I will head there.”
“Very well.”
Nathan didn’t say anything else. He just took another glance at Cthulhu as he returned to his seat. The sight alone gave a sense of the loneliness Cthulhu felt. At the same time, Nathan wondered if Cthulhu could also feel lonely.
Nevertheless, his course of action had been decided. Being the chosen one was one thing, he had to know the origin of his transmigration, especially the true identity of his dream. If he had time traveled multiple times, he needed to know what was going to happen so that he could do it differently.
In the end, Nathan returned to the others, only to find Melissa, Vivian, and Bella were walking around. Melissa aside, Vivian had no choice but to accompany Charlotte. She and Bella were like pet owners trying to walk their dogs.
Revon, Christopher, Neyeid, and Sonia, on the other hand, were going from one roof to another, considering a roof alone was similar to a small block in a human city. They were trying to figure out the true size of the city, but it didn’t look like they would achieve it due to how far they had to travel unless they used their full strength. Unfortunately, they had to conserve their energy because they were going to leave the next day.
Nathan and Evelyn were sitting on the edge of one of the tallest roofs in the city, staring at a city so vast that they couldn’t see the end of it.
“So, have you made a decision?” Evelyn asked.
“Yeah. I’m going to fight the singularity. This is the only way for me to live peacefully. Once I reach that level, I don’t think I have to worry about politics anymore. As for the future, I will just leave it to the future.” Nathan nodded.
Evelyn paused for a moment. Giving Nathan this task was simply too much. In the end, Nathan was still a 17-year-old man. It was only one year ago that he became an adult.
Although he was different from anyone of his age, it was still too much for a 17-year-old to bear the weight of saving the world.
“I have also made my decision.” Evelyn’s expression turned grim. “Elysion Aquamoon is not a goal in my mind anymore. Instead, I shall become a god no matter how hard this path is.
“I don’t plan to let you bear the weight of this responsibility alone. Just as you are helping me with my revenge, I will help you in your conquest.”
“Are you sure about this?” Nathan looked down, feeling bad. This was a choice he had made, so he didn’t really want anyone to get involved.
“Yeah. Isn’t that why you’ve been training your people?”
“Well, my original goal is just world class summoners.” Nathan smiled wryly. “And now, I am aiming to become the Primordial Heavenly Divine Immortal God!”
“Prim—what?” Evelyn was speechless before chuckling. “You still have the nerve to crack a joke here?”
Nathan laughed. “Ahaha. If we know that the path is arduous, I should at least make the process filled with laughter. Besides, a smile suits you the most.”
“!!!” Evelyn froze before looking away, embarrassed. “Smooth talker.”
“What smooth talker? I’m merely helping both of us.”
“Both of us?”
“Yeah.” Nathan looked at the starry sky. He didn’t know what would happen at the end of the journey. Would he disappear? He was an outsider in the first place. What if after everything was done, there was a contract he didn’t know about that sent him back to his former world?
He just wanted to etch his existence in this world, not as Nathan, but as Nathan Reckmoon.
If Evelyn could smile freely again because of him, he hoped her smile would remind her that Nathan Reckmoon was once here. Then again, Nathan couldn’t help but feel bad. How cruel did he need to be to fill her heart with grief whenever she smiled?
Unfortunately, there was no way he could say all that. He simply smiled and added, “Your smile can heal my heart.”
Evelyn’s eyebrows twitched as she pinched Nathan’s cheeks. “Don’t you feel cringe when you say that? Embarrassed? Or maybe goosebumps? Is this the mouth that speaks those words?”
“Ouch, ouch!” Nathan played along, but the two ended up laughing a lot.
…
The next day.
The city submerged as Cthulhu said as the latter bid his farewell to Nathan before sinking to the bottom of the ocean.
Nathan and the others had figured out a goal beyond their revenge. Whether it was a good thing or a bad thing, it was time for them to set sail to their next destination.
