Chapter 1142: A Land of No Laws
Jason could feel that the train ran on pure technology without needing any magic at all.
All of this was very impressive to Jason, but if this was all Jason saw, then Jason wouldn’t have cared after a little while. But the thing that truly stood out to Jason at the moment was what he felt when he spread out his senses a little to look at the power level of all the people around him. Every single one of them was in the TITAN Rank I or above! There wasn’t a single SSS Rank in this crowd, and Jason knew that these were just the regular average people in this part of the Primordial Expanse!
These were just the NPCs, and they were all TITANs, so just how powerful were the main powerhouses in this part of the world? Jason was almost too excited to find out about that!
Shove!
"Hey, watch where you’re standing! Get out of the fucking road!"
Jason was suddenly shoved from behind by one of the people passing by. The man had orange skin and a chubby body with a scowling face that showed how irritated he was at that moment. Valeria immediately stepped forward to try to grab the man, but Jason raised his hand and told her to stop.
"No, you don’t understand. He just picked your pocket. He probably took something important."
Valeria said this with a frown, and Jason just waved it off.
"It’s alright, I know. I could feel his hand reach inside. I picked his pocket as well, so it doesn’t matter."
Jason pulled out a bag of coins from his pocket to show Valeria that he had gotten something far more precious than whatever the man must’ve taken from him, and Valeria was so shocked by this that she couldn’t even form words for a few seconds! Valeria always knew that this part of the world was very dangerous. It was filled with crooks and thieves who would put you into the ground just for a few gold coins! So Valeria believed that she would have to be the one to look out for Jason and Stella while they were in this world to make sure they weren’t overwhelmed by the things that they would see!
But from what Valeria just saw, it was obvious that she didn’t have to worry about Jason at all! If Jason could pick out and steal from a pickpocket so discreetly, then there was no one in this place that could really fool him!
Valeria nodded to Jason in approval, and she waved for Jason and Stella to follow her as she began heading towards the train.
"Come on, we need to get to the Pit as quickly as possible. This should take us right to it."
Stella fell into step behind Jason as Jason began following Valeria, and Stella kept an eye on everyone around them to make sure no one came close to try and pick Jason’s pocket again. Stella was not comfortable being in this part of the world at all because she could tell that everyone here was a criminal in one way or another, and as a former soldier, Stella was usually tasked with hunting down and killing people like these. But Stella was not going to do anything to draw attention to herself since she knew that Jason wanted to work under the radar. If they were attacked, then Stella would defend her master, but other than that, she wouldn’t bother with anything happening around her.
As they walked towards one of the train entrances, Jason was surprised that Valeria simply went in without buying any tickets or showing a card to anyone. There was no conductor, and people were simply entering the train freely. Valeria waved for them to follow her, and she only glanced towards one of the men standing at the side before she continued on with Jason and Stella. The inside of the train was messy and filled with multiple people standing around in small groups and giving each other suspicious looks. Everyone there was trying to get to one part of the Zeroth Domain or another, but it was obvious that they were all very cautious around one another!
Jason followed Valeria to an empty corner, and they stood there away from the crowds and waited for the train to begin moving. Jason looked out of the window at the side curiously, and he calmly watched the people passing by. There were various Legion subordinates that Jason had sent out from his Alternate Dimension, and they were already mapping out this part of the domain so that Jason could come back here instantly if he ever needed to, but Jason still couldn’t believe how lawless this entire place was. It was so different from the well-governed part of the Primordial Expanse that Jason felt like he had stepped into another Dimension entirely.
WHIRLLL~!
The sound of the train charging up suddenly reached Jason’s ear, and Jason looked up briefly as a loud whistle echoed through the region!
"We’re about to start moving, just hold on to anything-"
"You think I’m playing with you! Shut up and give me my money!"
Valeria spoke up from behind, but she was interrupted by a loud voice from outside the train. Jason held onto a railing in front of him, and he looked outside to see that two people had gotten into a fight. It was a taller man and a shorter one, and Jason watched as the taller one grabbed the other one by his collar! The hood fell off the shorter man’s head to reveal that he was a dwarf with a timid and unassuming appearance, but it was obvious that this personality was just a cover-up because, in the next moment, the dwarf took out a long knife and stabbed the taller man in the stomach! The dwarf looked around to make sure no one was coming up to him before he turned and ran into the closing train while breathing heavily! The train slowly floated off the ground as the doors closed behind the dwarf, and Jason just watched the body of the taller man as he bled out on the floor.
There was no one moving towards the taller man to help him, and it didn’t look like anyone cared about the situation at all. No guards, and no security personnel even showed up to make sure that the man would survive, and from what Jason could see, it was obvious that the man would die here. The dwarf who had run away pulled his coat tighter around his body as he huddled himself into a corner of the train, and in the next moment, the train took off and left the Nexus Hub. This was the Zeroth Domain. A land of no laws.
....
[The Pit]
Somewhere in the vast expanse of the Zeroth Domain, floating in an endless, expansive void that looked very similar to outer space, was an artificial world known as The Pit. This world had not been created by natural means; instead, it had been crafted over hundreds of thousands of years by the multitude of people who had found this region and created new homes or sections for themselves using debris of metal or rock.
Unlike the rest of the Primordial Expanse that existed in a governable state and could be travelled through easily using Dimensional Gates, the Zeroth Domain was not the same. In the Zeroth Domain, nearly every world that you would go to was filled with monsters or creatures of legend that would kill you easily just for stepping into their territory! This had been a big problem for the inhabitants of this Domain for a long time because most people would be killed just for opening a Dimensional Tear to travel from one side of the Domain to another.
