Chapter 1139: Valley of Earth Fairies

  • Next Chapter

In one of the settlements belonging to the Verag, a dimensional Tear opened, and three figures walked out of it. The Verag were creatures that were very similar to lions. They had long claws and large manes, and their bodies were built with strong plating around their joints, like they had been crafted for battle! Each fully grown Verag was around TITAN Rank II in strength, and since they were known for hunting in packs, they were some of the most successful hunters in this entire world!

Jason looked around at the massive plain filled with the Verags. The region was almost like a wilderness with a few trees spread out over massive distances and patches of grass covering sandy areas. Jason noticed many of the Verags perking up, with dangerous auras around them once they sensed that he was in their territory! Jason immediately released a small pulse of his mana into the air, and there was a wave of fear that passed through every single creature there! Even though the Verag couldn’t sense just how strong Jason was, the mere pressure Jason was letting off was enough to tell them that he could kill them in seconds!

Behind Jason were Valeria and Stella. Valeria was looking down at a map as she plotted the best path to their destination, and Stella was adjusting the hood that Jason had given her to wear. The hood Stella had on was similar to the one Jason was wearing. The hood was an artefact that Jason had gotten from a beast called the [Phantom Chameleon] a long time ago. The hood actually allowed whoever was wearing it to blend into their surroundings and disappear from sight, but Jason didn’t need to hide his whole body, and he was only using part of the hood’s ability to hide his face from view! Since the chameleon was a TITAN Rank beast, Jason didn’t have to worry about anyone below PRIMORDIAL Rank II seeing through it!

The Verag backed off, and Jason told Stella and Valeria to hold on to him before he sank into the shadows and began to move across the world of Nagi’tana.

There were many mercenaries who came to Nagi’tana to try and cross into the Zeroth domain. Although this path was very common for solo travellers or people who were travelling on foot, there was another larger path that allowed people to bring their entire hyperdrive ship in or out of the Zeroth Domain. As they moved through the shadows, Jason saw some other people who were either flying, walking, or driving strange mechanical or magical devices while heading in the same direction as them. All the people were planning to head into the Zeroth Domain, and this meant that they were all either mercenaries or pirates.

’There’s no way C’thlyanu doesn’t know about this pathway. Is he leaving it open on purpose?’

Jason knew that there was no way an all-seeing Celestial like C’thlyanu wouldn’t be aware of what was happening in this world! And as the Overlord of this domain, C’thlyanu had every right to shut down this pathway whenever he wanted! But the fact that he was leaving it open meant that C’thlyanu was either benefiting from this or he could see the importance of allowing the mercenaries and pirates to move back and forth without any limitations! But Jason knew that if it were him, he would have closed this pathway down a long time ago just to fuck with the mercenaries! Even though Jason was now close with Valeria, Jason couldn’t deny that he still felt a lot of hatred for mercenaries in general!

It only took about two hours for Jason to get to the Divergent Pathway. Jason and the two girls emerged from the shadow at the top of a massive cliff that overlooked the valley below, and Jason hummed curiously as he studied it. The entire valley looked like a giant maze crafted from stone and rock. There were large trees growing in some areas, and there was a cave on one side of the Valley that led into the maze.

The first thought that came to Jason’s mind at that moment was: why couldn’t they just fly over the valley to get to the other side? Valeria said that there were fairies that led people to the other side, but wouldn’t it be better to just completely avoid the valley if they wanted to get to the other side?

"That wouldn’t work?"

It was as if Valeria could immediately tell what Jason was thinking, and she spoke up with a small frown. Jason looked over at her curiously, and Valeria folded her hands as she continued.

"You’re not the first person to think about flying over the valley. I’ve tried it too, but it just doesn’t work. If you fly over it and get to the other side, you’ll end up missing the transportation point completely. The exact spot where we’re meant to open the Dimensional Tear is inside the Valley, and it moves along with all the other pathways. We have to use the fairies."

Jason huffed calmly when he heard this! It almost sounds like the fairies had created this pathway by themselves just to try and get mana stones from travellers! If that was true, then it was a very good business strategy!

Down on the ground, there were a few mercenaries entering the cave and vanishing into the valley, and Jason just stood and watched them with folded hands for a few seconds before he finally decided to go ahead with the plan.

"Lead the way."

Jason said this to Valeria, and Valeria floated off the cliff and began heading down towards the valley, with Jason and Stella following behind her! Although Valeria left her face exposed, Jason and Stella made sure their hoods were in their proper place to make sure no one could figure out who they were. As Jason followed Valeria down the cliff, Jason noticed a few Mercenaries around looking up at them discreetly to make sure they weren’t dangerous. Everyone here was either a criminal or wanted by the government in some way, so they were all doing their best to hide their identity with hoods and artefacts that prevented people from seeing their faces. Valeria didn’t have to worry about covering her face since she was popular in this part of the world, but Stella had to cover hers since it would be easy for people to figure out who she was because she was always around Jason.

They got to the ground a few minutes later and landed outside the massive cave entrance that led into the main pathways. Jason looked inside the cave, and he noticed hundreds of little lights zipping around erratically like lightbulbs! Jason knew that the lights were not normal, and when he asked Valeria about it, Valeria said that these were the fairies.

"Most mortals don’t have the spiritual connection that allows them to see spirit creatures, so the fairies are releasing a constant flow of spirit energy to light themselves up. That way, the mercenaries will know where to go to strike a deal."

Once Valeria said that, Jason realised that this was similar to what had happened in the spirit forest when Jason went to meet Gina after her Spirit training. Jason narrowed his eyes and changed his sight to Qi sense, and he immediately saw all the lights clear out to reveal the tiny little creatures that were floating around with wide smiles on their faces!
