Chapter 1099: Bring Me The Ring
Jason glanced to the side to see how much [Level of Understanding] he had gained, and he saw that he was currently at 50% understanding. Jason knew that this would be enough to send the boy up to the Celestial plane, but since it was so low, it would take a long time for the skill to activate.
If Jason tried using [Erasure of Origin] at this level, then there was a chance the boy would simply kill him and Agiel before they could complete the skill, so the best option right now was to convince the boy to go up to the Celestial plane on his own! This way, Jason didn’t have to try and force the skill, and they wouldn’t have to worry about dying!
A part of Jason wondered how such a young, clueless boy became a celestial in the first place. It was almost like this power had simply fallen into his lap without any warning, and now he was just a confused child trying to understand the implications of his life-ending curse. It was an unfortunate case, and Jason felt a little bad about the fact that he was sending this same boy up to the Celestial plane where many other dangerous Celestials would be waiting for him, but Jason didn’t allow himself to feel any guilt for it! If leading this child to the Celestial plane would save the lives of all the people Jason knew, then it was a small price to pay.
Jason watched as the boy seemed to consider Jason’s offer seriously. There was a bit of hesitation in the boy’s face that told Jason that it wouldn’t be easy for the boy to accept his fate. But that hesitation was overshadowed by the obvious guilt deep in the boy’s eyes. This was going to work! Jason was certain that it would work! Jason waited patiently with a serious expression, and, after more than five minutes had passed, the boy finally turned to Jason and said.
’Alright, I’ll allow you to send me to that Celestial place~’
Jason felt a surge of relief go through him once he heard that! This was the ideal situation, and Jason couldn’t have been happier about it! But Jason felt his smile dim as the boy spoke up again!
’But before I go~ I need you to do something for me~ My home world in the first domain is where I’ve been trying to reach again~ I wanted to find my parents, and I can’t just leave without making sure that they’re really gone~ In my home on Riara, there’s a magic ring that shines with the life force of my entire family~ Each person that dies dims the light further~ I want you to bring me that ring and prove to me that I am the last of my lineage~ Can you do that~?’
Jason had been a little worried when the little boy started talking at first, but when Jason heard the rest of what the boy wanted, Jason let out a low breath in understanding! Wanting to make sure that your parents were really gone before you leave the mortal plane was perfectly normal, and Jason could understand where the boy was coming from, so Jason nodded and said he would do it.
"Just tell me where it is, and I’ll send my subordinates to go and bring it for you. But you have to promise me that you’ll stop migrating across the Primordial Expanse. Go back to the world where you were sealed and wait there until I come find you. Is that okay?"
The Celestial of Death looked into Jason’s eyes seriously to make sure that Jason was telling the truth, and Jason stared back with complete sincerity! Once the Celestial of Death was sure that Jason wasn’t lying, he finally nodded and turned around.
’I’ll be waiting for you~’
That was all the Celestial said before it began floating back in the opposite direction, and Jason touched Agiel’s shoulder and woke her up. Agiel was a little confused when she woke up and saw Jason smiling at her, and she asked Jason what was wrong. Jason immediately told Agiel what had just happened, and Agiel’s eyes lit up in shock as she realised that they had completed the mission! They could finally go home! Agiel was far too tired to really celebrate, so she just pumped her hand once before leaning on Jason again!
Jason helped Agiel to her feet, and they both watched as the Celestial continued moving without bothering to turn back. Jason could only imagine how boring the existence of a Celestial was, and Jason found himself feeling bad for the clueless boy. But Jason wondered how something like this had even happened in the first place. How does someone become a celestial without knowing?
’How is a Celestial born?’
Jason asked this question to the system while watching the boy float away, and the system brought up a tab and explained calmly.
[Since there will always be a constant number of celestials in existence, a new Celestial can only be born when the previous Celestial wielding a certain Aspect dies. In order to become a Celestial, a being must possess the right physical and mental criteria required to withstand the Celestial mana, and they must also have gathered the Celestial Aspect that belonged to the dead Celestial. Once these things are done, they will transcend into the realm of the Celestials.]
Jason hummed as he read all this, and Jason realised that although the method seemed simple, it was actually quite complicated. The Celestial Aspect that the system was talking about was the same Shattered Aspect that the Celestials hide from people. So in order to become a Celestial, you have to first force a Celestial to tell you where their Shattered Aspect is hidden, and after getting it and putting all the pieces together and getting the Celestial Oath, you will then need to kill the Celestial and hope that you are worthy to become the next Celestial.
There were many points where something could go wrong, but as Jason watched the little boy walking away, Jason could only wonder just how physically and mentally powerful that little boy must’ve been for the world to find him worthy to wield the Aspect of Death.
But that wasn’t what was important right now. As far as this moment was concerned, Jason and Agiel had finally completed the first part of their mission. Jason glanced towards the [Level of Understanding] tab, and he saw that it was close to sixty percent now. The conversations with the Celestial had paid off, and once Jason got the keepsake from Riara, Jason was sure they could send the celestial up to the Celestial plane.

[Outside the Cloud of Death]
A massive crowd of soldiers had formed in front of the Celestial Cloud! Just a few hours ago, a soldier had come to tell Kalum that the Celestial of Death was starting to move in the opposite direction, and Kalum had immediately come out to see for himself whether that was true or not! And Kalum was stunned when he realised that it was actually true! The Celestial was heading back in the direction it had come from, and the sound of rejoicing and excitement from all the soldiers around him was infectious enough to make the serious Overlord laugh in excitement!
To Jason and Agiel, only a few days had passed inside the cloud, but out in the real world, more than a month had passed, and the people out here had gone through many different emotions as they wondered if this plan was really going to work or not. But at this moment, they were all rejoicing because they were certain that it had worked!
