Chapter 1093: The Celestial Cloud IV
"Yeah... yeah, I’m okay. I’m... I’m okay. Let’s go."
Agiel looked towards the tunnel with a harder gaze, and Jason first made sure that she was really okay before he nodded and began to walk once again! This time, Agiel stayed behind Jason as they moved, and although Jason could still sense some fear from Agiel, Agiel wasn’t slowing them down at all, and she was simply powering through the fear! The inside of the tunnel was still shrouded in the same darkness that they had already gotten used to, but as they walked deeper, the pressure around them seemed to be growing at an unbelievable rate! It felt like the tunnel was trying to crush them with how intense the pressure was, and it got to a point where Agiel literally felt her legs give out from under her!
Jason quickly reached out and caught Agiel before she could fall to her knees, and Agiel shook her head in disbelief.
"I... I can’t feel my legs. I’m fucking exhausted. The pressure..."
Jason nodded in understanding, and he told Agiel to put her hands around him! Jason put his hands on Agiel’s back and under her knees, and carried Agiel off the ground easily, and he made sure she had a tight grip around his neck before he continued walking into the tunnel.
"I’m scared, Jason."
Agiel spoke up a few minutes later in a low voice that was completely unlike her, and Jason smiled in understanding! This was the first time Jason would ever hear Agiel say those words. Agiel had never shown any fear even when she was faced with impossible odds, so Jason knew that Agiel was really being affected by the Celestial power! Jason always knew Agiel to be the confident, unbreakable woman who happily jumped towards dragons and monsters that were far stronger than her. She put on a strong front for everyone, and Agiel would rather die than let someone see her weakness! But Agiel trusted Jason so much that she didn’t mind if he saw her weakness at that moment, and honestly, Jason couldn’t blame her for being afraid. It was normal to fear something so far beyond your understanding.
Jason spoke up to Agiel in a calm voice.
"Do you remember the first time we met?"
Agiel hummed as she held Jason tighter.
"You mean when we ran into each other at the SMD building? I’m sorry I was so pushy that day. I learned a few days later that your house had been burning while I delayed you. I’m sure you must have hated me for that."
Jason chuckled softly.
"Yeah, I did. Gina was killed that day cause I was too slow. I kept thinking that maybe if I was quicker I could’ve saved her."
Agiel’s grip tightened even more, and Jason could feel a surge of remorse flow from her towards him. Agiel apologised again, but Jason continued calmly.
"It’s fine. I managed to deal with it, so it’s behind me. Besides, that experience taught me a lot about the world outside Earth, and it made me realise that I needed to work harder to protect my family. By the time we met the second time, I didn’t feel any sort of anger towards you."
"And how about now? How do you feel about me now?"
Agiel spoke up in a low, shy tone, and Jason hummed curiously as he thought about it. Although Jason could feel what Agiel was feeling, Agiel couldn’t sense Jason’s emotions that well, so she was a little tense as she waited for him to tell her what was on his mind. After a few seconds of silence, Jason finally spoke up with absolute sincerity.
"I care about you. I’ve gotten so used to your presence that I feel life would be less interesting without you in it."
And Jason knew that this was the truth. Jason didn’t feel for Agiel the same way he felt for Gina or his other girls, but it was impossible for him not to have some sort of attachment towards her. Right now, Jason cared about Agiel enough to say that she was more than a friend to him, and if Agiel was ever in trouble, Jason would do whatever he needed to do just to help her out.
Agiel felt a giddy smile spreading on her face, and she spoke softly:
"I care about you too, Jason. For a while, I was always really mad at you for ignoring me so many times. But I could never stay angry for more than a few days. No matter how many times you pushed me away, I always found myself looking for you again like some hopeless romantic."
Jason huffed in amusement. Jason was still getting used to this whole ’Soul Bond’ thing. A part of him still didn’t like it at all since it felt like it was outside his control, but as time passed, Jason was slowly getting used to it. It was as if a part of Jason had already accepted his connection with Agiel on a fundamental level! Like this was something that was always meant to happen!
Agiel ran her hand into Jason’s soft hair before she leaned in and whispered to Jason.
"Do you know how maddening it was for me all this time...? I did everything I could to make you look at me, but you always ended up ignoring me no matter what. And whenever I tried talking to you, you’d always have this mean, dismissive expression on your face. Like I was some sort of lesser creature."
Jason smiled apologetically.
"Sorry about that."
Jason knew he could be very dismissive towards people he didn’t really know. A lot of his classmates back in school were afraid to talk to him because he always seemed to be looking down on them, even when he was just being himself, so Jason could understand where Agiel was coming from. But Jason was surprised when Agiel shook her head.
"No, it was fine. I... I didn’t hate it too much. In fact, sometimes when I’m alone... I’d end up touching myself while thinking about that look... It was sexy."
Jason blinked in surprise when he heard that, and he turned to glance at Agiel with a raised brow! Agiel pressed her face into Jason’s shoulder to hide, and her cheeks burned in embarrassment! Agiel couldn’t believe she just said that! That was one of the things Agiel thought she would take to the grave with her, but for some reason, she couldn’t stop herself from telling Jason about it. Agiel just wanted Jason to know how much he affected her, and this was something Agiel didn’t want to hide from him!
Jason laughed in amusement as he felt Agiel’s embarrassment through their soul bond! This fucking pervert! If Agiel was going to be so shy about this, then why the hell did she even mention it in the first place? This wasn’t the first time a girl would tell Jason she touches herself to the thought of him, so Jason wasn’t too shocked, but Jason had such a refined and upright image of Agiel that he never thought she would be the sort of woman to do something like that. Although now that Agiel had mentioned it, Jason couldn’t stop his mind from conjuring an image of Agiel’s toned, pale body lying on her bed as she touched herself while whispering his name! Jason shook his head slightly to get rid of those thoughts, and Jason spoke with a chuckle.
"It’s nice to know my rudeness turns you on so much."
