’Hm?’ Max’s brows furrowed after reading the screen. This quest... wasn’t it ridiculous?

Reward was based on the severity of punishment, but he couldn’t kill or cripple them? Then how was he supposed to punish them?

Torture them?

That would surely give him better reward, but he didn’t have time to waste on these random trash.

Suddenly, a thought crossed his mind and he looked at the chubby guy, "You all live in this city?"

Chubby guy’s eyes lit up and he hurriedly nodded, "Yes, my lord. We live here. In fact, our homes are just a few streets away from your respected family’s estate."

Max nodded in acknowledgement, then glanced at the dark-skinned man, "You go and check up on that guy."

The dark-skinned guy had also realized that Max didn’t seem to intend to punish them too severely. So, he hurriedly nodded and went over to Tie Xiong.

"Give me your home address if you don’t want to die." Max ordered in a voice low enough for only the chubby guy to hear. Then he immediately added, "If they ask what we talked about, tell me you swore loyalty to me and would become my servant, is that understood?"

The chubby guy’s heart sank. He wasn’t giving him the opportunity to reject, but even if he had, could he have rejected?

’No matter what he is planning, at least he won’t kill me now.’ He thought, feeling better. Everyone had seen them talking, if he suddenly died, Max would be the first suspect.

He then told him his, Tie Xiong and the dark-skinned man’s addresses.

Just as he finished, a man walked over in their direction.

From his attire, he seemed to be the owner of this shop.

Sweeping a glance over at the kneeling chubby guy, the dark-skinned man and Tie Xiong whose jaw was dislocated and bleeding, he looked at Max, "Who are you, Young Sir and why are you causing a commotion in my shop?"

Max cupped his fists at him and offered a small smile, "Hello Uncle Nie. I’m Gu Chen. I overheard them talking bad about my family and couldn’t keep my temper in check. So please forgive me. I’ll pay for any damages your shop has suffered."

"Gu Chen?" Nie Zhanfeng was surprised and looked him up and down.

"You recovered, boy?" He asked.

"Yes, Uncle Nie." Max nodded.

"Some good finally happened to your family." Nie Zhanfeng smiled, then patted his shoulder, "If your family can’t overcome this tribulation, you can come work for me."

"Thank you uncle Nie." Max calmly nodded.

"Alright, go now. Don’t keep your sister waiting." Nie Zhanfeng said while glancing at Gu Lan, who seemed to have recognised Gu Chen and was staring at him in a daze.

Max nodded and without a second look at the trio, he turned around and walked towards Gu Lan.

As he came closer, Gu Lan confirmed he was indeed Gu Chen. Her heart welled up with several emotions and her lips quivered, "Third Brother..."

Max came over. Giving a warm smile, he took the banner from her with one hand and grabbed her hand with another, "Let’s talk inside."

Gu Lan let herself be pulled along and brother and sister entered the shop.

The moment they were out of everyone’s sight, Gu Lan threw herself in his arms, hugged him tightly and silently sobbed.
