STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer
Chapter 1148: Part 1: Stella Steals the Spotlight
Wilderness (City A)
Leonora was quiet, despite the urging of her friends. She made it clear to them that she didn’t want to leave anyone behind.
Her attitude pissed off the others. They were already scared, and now she was making them even angrier.
"I’m leaving. Let her die if she wishes," the male beast tamer said before he resumed walking forward.
Swoosh!
Seeing that, the other friends left one after another. Finally, her female friends also started walking away. Leonora was speechless.
She couldn’t believe her team had decided to leave without her. She had thought a little convincing would work, but she was wrong.
The other members were terrified to the core. All of them combined, along with their lifeline beasts, had failed to defeat the already injured Tier-7 Centipede Beast.
It was demotivating for them, and they were not out of danger yet. She understood the mood of her friends; they were scared of death.
Whereas she wanted to help others in this situation. She too felt the uneasiness of her lifeline beast, which had been injured during the fight.
Still, she stood by her conviction. She turned around and watched them leave into the night. When they disappeared from her sight, she shifted her attention back to the mound.
She decided to help the injured Beast Tamer first. They needed to leave this open field as soon as possible to find a secluded spot.
On the other hand, the five friends had walked away from the place, but they felt conflicted in their hearts.
"Should we leave her like this?"
"She is our friend," a female Beast Tamer said.
Hearing that, the others stopped in their tracks. The male beast tamer who had spoken earlier turned around.
"She will follow us out of fear. Let’s continue on our path. The Tier-7 beast could be here at any moment," he told them.
Hearing that, the others agreed to walk on. But the female friend turned around from time to time, wanting to check whether Leonora was following them.
She could not see her at all. There was no silhouette whatsoever.
Cold beads of sweat began to appear on her forehead.
Swoosh!
If the Tier-7 Centipede Beast appeared, it would confront Leonora first. She wanted to talk to her friends again, but upon seeing their faces, she remained silent.
Meanwhile,
Leonora reached the top of the mound. She saw someone sleeping on the green patches. The person was wearing a full gear set.
The armor was shining under the night light. There were no bloodstains or injuries; the person seemed to be sleeping peacefully.
She thought she was imagining things, but her lifeline beast communicated the same. The person in front of them was not injured at all.
Leonora was dumbfounded. She didn’t know what to say.
At the same time, the six-winged butterfly was already awake inside the mental zone.
She had first awakened when she sensed the presence of the Tier-7 Centipede Beast near the inner border.
She had also watched the fight between the Tier-6 Beast Tamers and the Tier-7 beast. Next, she observed their presence nearby and listened to their conversation.
She hadn’t expected someone good to be among them. Stella was impressed with the female beast tamer, and she didn’t mind helping out people like her.
Her and Jeremy Night’s efforts were worth it. Next, Stella shifted her attention toward Jeremy Night.
[I know you are awake as well. Don’t scare the good female beast tamer,] Stella said to him.
Hearing that, Jeremy Night’s mouth curved into a smile.
He heard Stella’s voice. Like her, he had felt the presence of the Beast Tamers nearby and had heard their recent conversation.
He opened his eyes and turned toward the female Beast Tamer.
"Hello," he said to her.
Hearing that, Leonora was taken aback. She was shocked by the strength of the Beast Tamer, realizing that the person was only a Tier-4 Beast Tamer.
It was far too dangerous for a Tier-4 Beast Tamer to roam the wilderness at night-let alone sleep on top of an exposed mound.
"Who are you?"
"Are you here to die?" Leonora asked, her voice tinged with anger.
She couldn’t believe what was happening. She had quarreled with her friends over this careless person.
Jeremy Night heard her scolding. He smiled and stood up from the ground.
"Hi, I’m Jeremy Night. I’m a Tier-4 Beast Tamer from the Special Base. I’ve spent the past two days in the inner lands fighting against the corrupted beasts," Jeremy said to her.
"Jeremy Night?" Leonora uttered in surprise.
She had heard the name before; the other Beast Taming teams had been talking about him earlier.
"You are the one who rescued the other Beast Taming teams," she said to him.
Hearing that, Jeremy nodded. He hadn’t expected his name to spread among the seniors.
Leonora sighed in relief. She hadn’t realized the young man before her was the Beast Tamer from the Special Base.
"I apologize. I didn’t realize it was you. I thought someone was being reckless out here," Leonora said in an apologetic tone.
"It’s okay, senior," Jeremy Night replied.
Boom!
Just then, a deafening noise erupted. The massive silhouette of a five-meter-tall centipede head appeared in the distance.
Hearing the sound, both of them turned toward the source of the noise. They saw the massive frame of the Tier-7 Centipede.
He had sensed the presence of the Tier-7 beast earlier as well, but he hadn’t expected it to appear within range so quickly.
"The Tier-7 beast has arrived," Leonora said in terror, the color draining from her face.
Her hands and feet began to tremble. She hadn’t expected the beast to track their scents; her friends had been right after all.
Now she didn’t know what to do, momentarily forgetting the person standing next to her.
Jeremy Night observed the beast, noting Senior Leonora’s trembling state.
[Let me out!] Stella urged.
Hearing that, Jeremy Night summoned her out.
Swoosh!
A six-winged butterfly with a wingspan of over three meters appeared in the sky.
Her wings were bluish-white, with golden runic patterns tracing across them.
Her appearance stunned Leonora, who was mesmerized by her beauty.
