Chapter 1142: Part 1: The Unrest of the Tier-8 Beasts

Wilderness (City A)

As time passed, both of them actively hunted the beasts in the inner area. After some time, they began to rest.

Jeremy Night waited for Stella to recover. Then, both of them resumed hunting down the corrupted beasts.

They made a joint decision not to actively seek out the corrupted beasts; otherwise, they might alert a group of higher-tier beasts.

If the Tier-8 beasts learned of their presence, it could attract unwanted danger.

They could handle one beast at a time, but it would be disastrous to face all of them at once. Also, he didn’t want to expose too much of their strength to the Beast Tamers.

So, they only killed the beasts within their immediate range in the inner area. Governor Evelina had already warned him about the risks.

Jeremy Night started feeling uneasy despite having Stella’s support. He felt he still didn’t know what was truly going on.

The threat they faced remained unclear, and Jeremy had no clue when the battle would end.

Meanwhile,

City Governor Evelina was still in the wilderness. She had waited all night at the border.

Just as she thought of leaving, her lifeline beast picked up an unusual presence from the unknown land, which made her stop.

She didn’t know why she felt it was important to stay, but she held her position.

On the other hand, an intense fight was still going on. She didn’t intervene in the battles of others; however, seeing the increasing casualties on both sides made her frown.

She decided to cross the border and venture deeper. Only then would she be able to find out anything. She could not stand the continuous increase in the death toll.

Swoosh!

After making her decision, she crossed the border and quietly slipped into the unknown land. Her lifeline beast picked up another unusual signal, causing her to frown further.

She couldn’t sense anything herself, but her lifeline beast was incredibly sensitive, so she trusted its instincts.

Swoosh!

As seconds passed, she covered more ground using her flight ability. After traveling a hundred miles deep, she finally saw something strange.

She spotted the massive frame of a beast. It was eight meters tall and covered in spikes across its back.

The spikes were several inches long. Staring at the beast’s back, Evelina paused in mid-air. She didn’t move forward, and her eyes flashed with coldness.

How could she forget this beast? It was the Tier-9 Spiked Tiger Beast, the mastermind behind the attacks. It had attempted to destroy the city a couple of times before.

She watched as the Tier-9 Tiger Beast headed deeper into the unknown land. She didn’t know why; she had initially thought it was going to attack the city.

Evelina didn’t chase after it. Now that she had found the beast, she had confirmation that the Tier-9 Tiger was indeed the mastermind behind the current wave of attacks.

Earlier, she had worried it might be man-made, and had even consulted a higher-up in the human alliance. Having her answer, she didn’t wait any longer.

Swoosh!

She began her return journey, quickly arriving back at the border. This time, she didn’t hide her presence. The power of a Tier-9 being erupted from her body.

The nearby Tier-8 beasts were struck by her oppressive aura, especially those trying to cross the border.

They were stopped dead in their tracks. The beasts closest to the border immediately fled in terror, overwhelmed by the presence of a Tier-9 Beast Tamer.

On the other side, the human Beast Tamers and their lifeline beasts also felt the Tier-9 aura. They recognized the presence at once; it belonged to City Governor Evelina.

City Governors Corvin and Garran sensed her arrival. They quickly left their positions and rushed to Evelina’s side.

Evelina saw Corvin and Garran approaching and gave them a nod.

"There is no need to be passive. Let’s clear the higher-tier beasts from the wilderness," she said.

Corvin and Garran readily agreed. They had been waiting for this order and immediately passed the instructions down to the local Tier-8 Beast Tamers.

It didn’t take long for the Beast Tamers to switch to the offensive, launching coordinated attacks on the Tier-8 beasts.

As time passed, some of the Tier-8 Corrupted Beasts fled the core area, scattering in all directions. A few headed toward the inner area.

Evelina crossed the border once again, re-entering the unknown land and wiping out any nearby Tier-8 beasts.

She wanted to see if the Tier-9 Spiked Tiger would dare approach the city, but the beast was cunning, and she couldn’t feel its presence anywhere.

She then noted that the Beast Tamers’ aggressive push was working, as the number of falling higher-tier beasts rapidly increased.

Evening time,

Jeremy Night and Stella were taking a break, but Stella suddenly sensed a change in the atmosphere. She didn’t know what was going on.

She spread her mental power to check her surroundings, but she found nothing.

The wilderness was eerily quiet; not even the other Beast Taming Teams could be spotted.

During their time there, they had come across more than twenty Beast Taming Teams and had rescued all of them.

Boom!

Just then, Stella detected a six-meter-tall Tier-8 beast heading in their direction.

[There is a higher-tier beast approaching our location,] Stella communicated to him.

Hearing this, Jeremy Night stood up from the bedrock, raising an eyebrow. He turned toward the direction of the approaching beast and used his vision power to inspect it.

Thud!

A Tier-8 Spider Beast was moving forward rapidly. Every step it took produced a heavy, resounding thud. The shock force spread outward, uprooting patches of grass and vegetation in the blink of an eye.

The massive body of the beast was a mix of black and purple, supported by long, pitch-black legs.

As its appearance quickly became clear, Jeremy felt a sharp sense of danger.

Obviously, he wasn’t like Stella; he could only use her abilities up to a certain limit. He knew she had the best chance of taking down the Tier-8 Spider easily.

[Shall I take the initiative?] Stella asked.

Jeremy agreed. The next second, he summoned her.

Swoosh!

A six-winged butterfly appeared in the open. A moment later, she charged forward, vanishing from her spot in a flash as she darted toward the Tier-8 Spider Beast.
