Chapter 2314: Chapter 2314: The Chaos of Moon Bay

Quickly taking a few steps, Shard raised his right arm and slashed fiercely towards the sky, an arc-shaped light blade formed by brilliant silver light cleaving the vampire beast diving down below neatly in two along its midline.

As blood sprayed and the corpse fell to the ground, Shard had already jumped into the high air, using the floating card to gain leverage for a second leap to rise even higher, then crossed his arms in front of him, his body transformed into a huge silver Moonlight Cross in the flames-lit sky, annihilating the swarm of giant bats attempting to attack the citizens fighting the fire.

When he landed back on the street of the burning district, he looked up to see a Circle Sorcerer with wings growing from his back descending from the high-altitude melee to the street.

The wings on his back were dragon wings, but his face was withered like a desiccated corpse, two sharp teeth protruding from his mouth.

"Dragonborn Vampire?"

Shard frowned and asked, while the magic circle behind the sorcerer showed the Ring of Fate of Eight Rings:

"Stranger, this is our matter with the True God Church, don’t meddle."

"Doing such things in the city, you’re really not afraid to die?"

While speaking, Shard once more, with "Moonlight Slash: Fourth Form," transformed into silver moonlight charging forward, the Dragonborn Vampire raised both hands, and he too transformed into a red blood cross charging forward:

"Then you can go die!"

The silver and red crosses rushed forward swiftly, meeting at the center of the street in front of burning buildings and the background of cries for help from everywhere.

With a rumbling sound, the moonlight and blood mist seemed to merge together, but as the dust from the explosion cleared away, at the intersection of two deep rut lines left on the street, Shard holding the Yggdrasil’s Staff looked at the Circle Sorcerer at his feet whose right arm had been blown off and whose left side body had disappeared, then looked past the sky filled with sparks and flying ash, squinting towards deeper into the city: ℴℴ𝘮

"So, what happened exactly?"

The entire north of Moon Bay City seemed to be burning, but in fact, there weren’t many places on fire, yet connected together, it was quite frightening.

Huge bat monsters flew everywhere in the sky, attacking citizens daring to fight fires on the streets, police and Church’s teams of Circle Sorcerers roamed about trying to bring down those flying creatures.

An unknown number of Dragonborn Vampires were fighting Church’s High Ring Sorcerers in the sky, while the main force of the Church was at the seaside of the Dock Area, engaging with over twenty dragons coming from the far sea.

In the chaotic night, everywhere were screams, cries, and sounds of explosions. Citizens not affected by the battles in the north and south of the city could only tremble in their houses while those unfortunate to be caught in this battle between humans and non-human races could only desperately attempt to escape.

Mutated large bats, swarms of vampire bats, Dragonborn Vampires, and vampire beasts formed attackers whose chaos in the Northern District was growing larger.

Entering the city from the gate corresponding to Saint George Stone Bridge, Shard expanded the range of Maze Lock, hoping this snow could help more people, while trying to rescue more people from the burning fire scene.

The Heart of Stone’s ability to listen to heartbeats had its greater effect in such an environment. Most of the monsters encountered by Shard on the ground perished under the deadly moonlight.

On his way forward, Shard also encountered Church’s teams. Led by a squad of three Four Rings and one Six Rings sorcerers under the Peace Church, they didn’t inquire who Shard was, but in front of burning buildings while dealing with vampire beasts relentlessly swooping down from the sky, they loudly called Shard over to help:

"A family of four is trapped under here!"

Thus, the Thunder Spear glimmering with silvery white arcs hit precisely on the Circle Sorcerer commanding these vampire beasts from higher up, causing the extremely low intelligence vampire beasts to flee in panic. Shard immediately rushed to the front of the half-collapsed three-story apartment, took a deep breath:

"Ice Spell!"

White frost spread with his slow breath towards the building, quickly suppressing the flames, and after the fire extinguished, even the scorched building debris was covered with a layer of white frost.

Three Low Ring Sorcerers bypassed Shard taking the time to rescue people in the ruins, snowflakes now also covered this block with Shard’s arrival.

Shard stopped the sorcery and asked the Six Rings Sorcerer trying to use the church’s power to suppress the fire on the street:

"What’s the situation exactly now?"

The black-haired, out-of-breath middle-aged man nodded as a greeting without asking Shard’s identity:

"Vampire Kind attacked north of the city, dragons attacked south, a small area in the east of the city lost all contact with the outside.

Earlier, news of an Angel-Level Relic appeared in the countryside north of the city drew away professors from Three Major Academies and the principal of Saint Byrons. Now only the Thirteen Rings Lords and Xerxes Higher Medical Academy’s Thirteen Rings dean, the Iron Punisher Professor Miller Stuart, are left in the city fighting dragons by the sea.

Not just dragons, many rotting mermaids crawled out from the foggy sea, and the churches in the city were also attacked, there’s a shortage of manpower everywhere. If you want to help, brother, go to the city center, the Church occupies Belindel Big Bell as the high point, but it’s being madly attacked by Vampire Kind, help is most needed there."

But Shard did not go to the clock tower. After bidding farewell to the four from the Peace Church, he continued moving south from the northern part of the city. It wasn’t until he reached the edge of the chaotic sea of fire that he looked back, ended the Maze Lock, and transformed into a swarm of red butterflies flying into the sky.

There was no need to worry about being seen by others now, as the sky above the entire city was filled with chaotic things flying around. Besides those vampire beasts, even fireballs with autonomous awareness appeared in the burning sea of fire in the north. These fireballs containing the Whisper element flew from the north to all corners of the city, igniting buildings rapidly upon falling.

Compared to those things, the red light stream didn’t draw any attention.

The order in Moon Bay’s Central District was much better than the chaos in the city’s north, but this didn’t mean nothing was happening here.

A large number of armed gangs or pirate-looking individuals, along with those trying to loot amidst the chaos, were exchanging fire with the police on the streets. Meanwhile, noble guards and attendants with torches and kerosene lamps were nervously assisting the police and military in suppressing those trying to fish in troubled waters from estate walls or club rooftops and windows.

Near the Belindel Estate, things appeared calm, but as the swarm of red butterflies landed within the estate’s courtyard, gunshots immediately rang out.

"It’s me."

Gripping a bullet, Shard lifted a silver light orb from the darkness, causing the gunfire to cease instantly.

Miss Maid hurriedly led Shard into the house from the front door of the mansion. Miss Swift, who had come down from the rooftop, quickly met him as well.

In the courtyard of the Belindel Estate, one couldn’t sense any supernatural power, but inside the house, with the collaboration of the Four Elements and the Witch’s Secret Arts, an impenetrable defense was formed.

With sleeves rolled up revealing her pristine white wrists, flaxen-haired Miss Swift looked very capable. She quickly embraced Shard and, speaking rapidly, explained:

"The city started getting chaotic about an hour ago. It seems the Dragon Feast Cult and the Vampire Kind joined forces, harassing the city from the north and south directions."

She did not use the word "attack", clearly not believing Moon Bay City would be easily breached:

"Originally, it was me, Tifa, and Matilda staying at the estate. About twenty minutes ago, Tifa took three high-ring ladies to Margaret’s Manor, and Matilda is still on the roof now."

As she spoke, Emilia and Angelina appeared from the top of the stairs, looking both frightened and somewhat excited.

"How are Miss Belindel and the others? Didn’t she say the Light Worshipper Training Association’s base in the city was in the east of the city? Just now when I was coming over, I saw that only the east of the city was the most peaceful.

By the way, the Circle Sorcerers from the True God Church I encountered earlier said the small area to the east of the city had lost contact with the outside world. Is this them?"

Shard asked again, and Miss Swift nodded:

"It should be, about half an hour ago we lost contact with that side.

A powerful force set up a large-scale illusion, making it impossible to see the situation over there from afar. However, Miss Aphrola has arrived; now we have four Grand Witches, along with Miss Eles. Tifa said there’s no need to worry, and if you come, you can go over and take a look."

As the highest-level Witch Apprentice, Tifa had the authority to command in the absence of the Grand Witches.

Shard nodded to indicate he understood:

"But what is tonight’s purpose? Even if the Dragon Feast Cult is insane, they wouldn’t believe they have the power to break Moon Bay City, would they? Are they trying to summon that deep-sea Evil Object again?"

This question Miss Swift could not answer, but the chaotic night had already lasted for an hour, and the waters at Moon Bay Harbor were still calm, entirely unlike a sign of an imminent summoning of the deep-sea Evil Object.

Because he was really worried about the situation on the witches’ side, Shard decided not to go to the rooftop and greet Miss Matilda but instead decided to set off immediately.

Miss Swift saw Shard off at the door, but Shard was called by Emilia:

"Shard, why not ride Little Liana with you."

She gently pushed the pure white little beast. The beast took a few steps forward and then looked back at her. Upon confirming that Emilia indeed wanted it to leave with Shard, it happily walked towards him.

"That’s good as well."

Miss Swift said:

"The Unicorn is faster, and it can heal curse damage, perhaps Miss Belindel over there needs it."
