Chapter 2310: Chapter 2310: Angel and Angel

Shard asked curiously, and Miss Eles shook her head slightly:

"There’s a very dangerous feeling, so I better not delve into it. Let’s not discuss this matter; I thought we’d face dangerous battles this time, but unexpectedly, you truly have a solution."

She had no intention of checking that cross sword, just like Emilia dared not touch it either. Every Angel-Level Relic must be handled cautiously; since Shard possesses it without any incident, Shard should hold onto it.

However, although this is a powerful weapon, even now that it’s truly in his possession, Shard never thought about using it himself.

The relics around him are already abundant; the "Night Watchman" is more suitable for him. Excessive greed attracts disasters; Shard understands this well.

To prevent the "Light Chaser" from returning again, the three did not linger here. When Shard touched the "Ring of Immortality" to reverse time and restored the Angel Statue, Miss Eles relocked the ruins, and the statues and stone platform once again vanished.

The Little Unicorn even gently touched the rune chain with its horn, which seemed to make the seal even more secure.

On the way back to town, the three also discussed the reason for the abrupt appearance of the "Light Chaser."

He surely came for the contents of that metal box; what’s inside the box remains unclear for now, as the box itself is a sort of mechanism lock.

The "Light Chaser" probably sensed the box’s location in some way, but couldn’t break through the rune lock set by Fifth Era elves, thus waiting for the chance to break it, which reminded Shard of the clues provided by John Flynn when meeting the Captain at the tavern days ago.

While investigating the elf legend, the "Light Chaser" ultimately couldn’t break the seal himself, but Shard’s group arriving today unlocked the Maze Lock, alerting him to the situation here.

"It turns out the Light Chaser can perform spatial movement."

The Elf Girl riding the Little Unicorn sighed, and the blue-eyed girl smiled replying to her:

"In the distant Fifth Era, High Rank Witches more or less mastered some spatial movement techniques. In this era, Emilia, while spatial movement is rare, it’s certainly not extinct. For Thirteen Rings, although they’re mere mortals, they’re also the finest of mortals."

To avoid tracking by the Thirteen-Ring Sorcerer, the trio took a detour outside town and went directly to the seaside instead of returning to the estate. Subsequently, to Emilia’s and the Little Unicorn’s astonishment, the "Radiant Messenger" ship, which Shard had seen during his final adventure in the Sea of Darkness, emerged from the sea.

However, compared to the ship that flew with him from the Sea of Darkness, this cruise ship is evidently larger now, with those inconspicuous Dragon Scale patterns on its surface more dense.

"Such a big ship."

The three, along with the Unicorn, boarded the deck, and of course, the horses were led up too. Then the cruise ship slowly headed towards the deep sea while the pure white beast happily ran around the deck, with Emilia looking around in surprise:

"The largest ship I’ve ever been on was the double-deck icebreaker during the Academy’s Far North expedition... Can we check out the cabin?"

She looked expectantly at the blue-eyed girl, who smiled nodding, and thus the elf entered the cabin with the Little Unicorn.

After a slight sigh, Miss Eles glanced at Shard standing on the deck, gazing at the gradually receding land:

"The last time you boarded my ship was in the previous Era."

"Hmm... wasn’t it half a month ago when I fainted after transforming into a dragon for the first time?"

Shard corrected, and the blue-eyed girl said, chidingly:

"That doesn’t count. Anyway, seeing this ship again after a millennia, how do you feel?"

Shard thought for a moment:

"I still love the helm; turning is truly swift."

Miss Eles hesitated slightly, then reacted, withdrawing her foot slightly beneath her dress, and lightly patted Shard:

"Really... you completely remember our encounter."

The "Aura Messenger" did not carry Shard and Emilia far away but transformed on the sea, becoming a small cargo ship named "Golden Storm" and then openly docked at the Moon Bay Harbor.

According to Miss Eles, "Golden Storm" is a ship registered by her officially, to facilitate her appearances at ports worldwide.

Besides the cargo ship "Golden Storm," she holds identities as a small cruise ship "Phoenix Butterfly," Carsonrick Armored Cruiser "July Flower," pirate ship "Weeping Reaper," large deep-sea fishing vessel "Tuna Ship," and Draleon Northern Exploration Ship "Firewine."

Looking at it this way, Miss Eles indeed achieved many things in these hundreds of years since awakening.

The trio and Little Unicorn quickly led the horses back to Belindel Estate, now three-thirty in the afternoon. However, Shard did not linger long at Belindel Estate, but immediately left again with the "Angel’s Right Arm."

Encased in bloodstained burlap cloth, the silver cross sword is wrapped, which is the way to contain it.

Having completed a restful afternoon nap, he threw Crystal Shoes to the cat and returned home, greeted the Cavendish ladies, and quickly thudded downstairs to the basement, heading to Huntington City.

In the upstairs study, Lecia and Miss Galina looked at each other:

"He’s always so busy."

After leaving the wine cellar of White Valley Vineyard, Shard hurriedly rode towards the eastern part of Huntington City. Under Mia’s "guidance," he finally managed to enter Lake Cherub again before sunset that day.

The yellow hue of the sunset also made the water surface of Lake Cherub turn a deep yellow. Leading his horse onto the grass of Heart Lake Island, Shard let the horse graze freely, then patted the small head of the cat on his shoulder, and gently held the Angel’s Right Arm wrapped in burlap, stepping lightly into the central lake on the island.

The lady with the staff was still waiting for him beneath the giant rock in the center of the lake. Shard nodded slightly to show respect, then held the burlap forward:

"Lady, I have come again to seek guidance."

The angel with the staff nodded and smiled:

"I know why you’ve come, and I know the doubts in your heart."

Her left hand, which was without a staff, was placed on the burlap, so the cross sword wrapped within emitted a glimmer once more, until it floated up, suspended between Shard and this Cherub.

The cat watched curiously, while Shard asked:

"So, is this sword really the right arm of some angel?"

"Yes,"

She affirmed:

"But not the one you are thinking of."

Shard breathed a slight sigh of relief; he was thinking of the "Angel of Death," which is the source of Priest Augustus’s power. Of course, it wasn’t such a coincidence that he had just acquired a relic related to angels and immediately linked it to the Angel of Death.

Moreover, back in Milestone, the right arm Joey Barton had implanted by the Truth Society was the bone of an angel’s arm, so even though angels and humans are built differently, finding a new arm bone would not be so easy.

Considering, although the number of Ancient God’s angels is not many, there are certainly more than three or four, hence the item not being related to the "Angel of Death" is a normal circumstance:

"Will giving this sword to Lat August the Cleric exacerbate his current psychological problems? You know Lat August, right?"

The lady with the staff nodded again:

"It will exacerbate his problems."

"Then I had better not give it to him for now, if I want to help..."

"This is the trial I present to you,"

The angel interrupted Shard with a smile:

"As a sage, guiding Lat August to see into his own heart is the trial I present to you this time."

"Guidance?"

This was also the power Shard lacked. He nodded:

"I understand. Actually, this is what I want to do as well. If Priest Augustus loses control, even I could barely stop him. Thank you once again for your assistance."

He bowed his head slightly, grateful for the angel’s help. Although only two questions were answered, Shard couldn’t think of where else to find the answers than here.

"No need to thank me. I am happy that you seek guidance from me."

The lady with the staff gently tapped the cross sword floating between them with her long staff, and in an instant, the Miracle Element overwhelmed the Whisper Element, and Shard clearly saw the densely packed golden runes surrounding the relic appear, but only for a flash:

"That severed arm comes from the angel of the Ancient God - The Upside-Down Judge, who presides over Balance, and we also call them ’Judges.’

That occurred in the mid-Second Era, after the Ancient God had departed, though some angels still lingered in the mortal world. The owner of the severed arm went to war with a powerful entity in the mortal world, defeating the enemy, but the aftermath of the battle also destroyed a kingdom with a population of a million."

Shard nodded:

"Could angels not avert this disaster?"

"Even angels cannot reverse time on a large scale in the material world once the World Tree withers. Resurrecting the dead from death was strictly prohibited after the end of the First Era. Therefore, to punish itself, the judge severed its right arm, turning it into this cross sword to guard civilization."

The lady with the staff explained, then under her staff’s light, the sword entangled by light and shadow returned unchanged to Shard:

"Your sense of justice is acknowledged by it, and this relic likewise is willing to accept you as its master. Though you can use it, there is also the risk of being influenced by its extreme ideas, gradually losing yourself in pursuit of justice and the slaying of evil. Please use it cautiously, for it is not more suitable for you than the Night Watchman."

"I understand."

Shard re-gripped the sword, startled to feel it fit more comfortably than before. He soon realized it was the blessing from the angel before him, bestowed upon the sword.
