Steampunk: Sixth Era Epic
Chapter 2303: Sacrificial Bone Sword
Chapter 2303: Chapter 2303: Sacrificial Bone Sword
When Iluna entered Belindel Estate that evening, night had already quietly fallen.
The maid led her to the study upstairs, and on the third-floor hallway, she unexpectedly encountered the little unicorn taking a stroll alone. The pure white little beast stared at Iluna with its azure eyes for a good long while, the eighteen-year-old girl, with a cold face... actually not knowing what expression to make, stood there looking at it for a long while.
Then, the little beast trembled as it approached Iluna and wobbled before it lay at her feet.
Iluna blinked, wanting to bend down and pet it in surprise when Emilia and Angelina came over:
"Little Liana, where did you go for your walk? Why haven’t you come back? Did you encounter little Mia?"
The two young women, turning from around the corridor corner, were terrified to see the little unicorn crouching. They then covered their mouths and backed away.
Iluna suddenly felt that she couldn’t wash herself clean even if she jumped into Moon Bay, but luckily, the smiling Miss Maid later helped clarify that she hadn’t bullied that pure white little beast.
"I don’t know why it would be afraid of me; animals actually like me a lot. Shard’s Mia is never afraid of me, of course. That cat seems unafraid of anyone but will appear very timid when it suits in front of Shard."
Upon entering the study, Iluna was still talking to Miss Elf and Angelina.
As for the study, the three Grand Witches and Miss Eles were present, but the Witch Apprentices and Ciris were not seen. Though Iluna hadn’t met the girl with black hair and blue eyes, glancing at her figure, then her face, she probably guessed who this was.
Back in Tobesk, Shard had told her and Luviya the story of the "Sea of Darkness."
Angelina and the Elf Girl didn’t enter the room. After bidding farewell to Iluna, they left with the little unicorn.
At that time, Mia was standing on the windowsill, incessantly turning to look at the black ring wrapped around its tail. The cat was now very pleased. As for Shard, he stood by the window, holding that white great sword.
"Oh~"
Iluna exclaimed in surprise:
"The sword hasn’t disappeared yet? I knew it was you this afternoon."
"It was indeed me this afternoon, but I can’t control that form of great sword.
This is the white light sword I can control; as long as I maintain the consumption of my spirit and don’t let go, the sword can exist permanently, similar to the Moonlight Greatsword. Iluna, you cannot imagine how much effort it took to bring it into the city."
Miss Sylvia also laughed and said:
"She surely couldn’t guess. While having dinner just now, not only were you eating with one hand, but you also had to feed the cat; how amusingly frantic you were."
"This lady is Angie Illustrious."
Shard then introduced Iluna; the blue-eyed girl stood up from the sofa and shook hands with Iluna:
"Hello, Miss Beyas."
She seemed to know Iluna, and Iluna politely greeted back, then picked up the Keeper of Secrets by the tea table:
"Shard, let’s give it a try."
"Sure."
Each holding a sword, the two began to fiercely strike at each other under the interested gaze of the ladies.
A clanging sound made the cat on the windowsill quite dissatisfied, while nothing abnormal occurred with the two clashing swords.
Only some tiny glowing fragments fell from the light sword in Shard’s hands, but before they touched any entity, Shard swiftly swung the sword to absorb them:
"See, this sword transformed by the unusual glow possesses nearly all the properties of that peculiar glow. Of course, it cannot melt all objects, and things transformed by it into light don’t possess the ability to continue infecting other touching objects."
Iluna noticed two glowing table knives and a glowing apple on the tea table, which should be products from the recent experiment. She nodded, put down the Keeper of Secrets, and sat down on the sofa. She first briefly explained the church’s actions this afternoon, then commented: ℯ
"According to your explanation, the sword you’re holding now isn’t very powerful. I thought it would be able to glorify all things like those lights."
"We discussed that this afternoon; it should be Shard’s Dragon Language Spell that has lessened the danger of the glow."
Miss Belindel nodded:
"But its value isn’t in its strength; rather, it’s currently the only ’unusual light source’ we can safely touch. After Shard returned this afternoon, I summoned Vanessa and Emma."
"Then, have there been any research results? No, it’s only been an afternoon, probably not yet."
Iluna said, then she looked at Shard:
"Aren’t you planning to keep holding this sword? What about when you sleep?"
"Of course, not forever; Miss Benanis and the others haven’t found a way to solidify this sword yet, but they already know how to safely store this weakened trait glow. This requires using a relic derivative, which you’ve come into contact with."
于是十八岁的姑娘恍然大悟:
"哦!是Empty Bottle Fruit."
"Empty Bottle Fruit" is a Relic Derivative of the Keeper of Secrets Level Relic [Bottle Tree], a peculiar glass tree’s fruit that manifests as a glass bottle in an apple-like shape, these bottles, imbued with Whisper Element, can store most of the Glimmer without any loss.
Because of its unique shape, these bottles, when hung up as lighting fixtures, look very beautiful. At the beginning of this year, Iluna relied on these bottles to attempt practicing the skill "compressing Sunshine," which greatly helped her later in mastering the "Power of the Earth: Solar Energy Cannon."
Of course, although "Empty Bottle Fruit" is just a Relic Derivative, it’s not something casually available for purchase, at least Miss Belindel doesn’t have any stock in hand.
Miss Matilda, Tifa, and Miss Swift aren’t at the estate now, they’re out to conduct a transaction with the seller contacted by the Countess. Before they return, Shard fears he’ll have to hold onto this sword for a while longer.
As for Margaret and Ciris, Her Highness the Princess is currently very busy, Ciris is assisting her.
Although it can’t melt everything, now anything this sword touches glows, so Shard can’t even casually sit down. Iluna expressed her sympathy to Shard but didn’t forget to elaborate on the afternoon’s events:
"The village in the Black Forest is [Dragon Feast Cult]’s local outpost for nurturing Dragon Beasts. The documents and materials we found from there indicate that [Dragon Feast Cult] is trying to create a Dragon Beast army."
Miss Benanis asked:
"Are they planning to openly wage war against the Church?"
"Not sure, in fact the most significant gain this time was not those materials but the giant sword that emerged from the spatial rift, and the Ritual Site where the Dragon Feast Ceremony was conducted."
Iluna picked up the teacup but didn’t drink:
"The sword has been identified, it also meets the criteria of a ’Holy Sword’ as a relic. The Church is quite troubled, before I came here, they were holding a meeting discussing the potential Chosen of Light within [Dragon Feast Cult]."
Shard, who was teasing the cat by the window with his sword, looked over:
"Oh? What relic?"
"The patterns on that sword are unmistakable, Sage-Level Relic [Sacrificial Bone Sword]."
"I know about this."
Miss Eles, sitting beside the Countess, said:
"This sword is famous, crafted from the remains of a Dragon Knight who left no name, and his Dragon friend, blended together after melting in a volcano, forming a unique weapon.
The sword’s trait is that it can freely change size in the hands of a creature with Dragon Lineage by paying Spirit, and every swing has a Dragon Roar effect. With the correct technique, swinging the sword can automatically trigger Dragon Language Spell."
"But it’s said that the sword is also cursed."
Iluna added:
"I saw the data in the church today, it’s said that all previous owners of this sword died due to dragons. Of course, that doesn’t diminish the fact that it’s a genuine Holy Sword."
"Another sword... So, Shard, how many Holy Swords are there in Moon Bay now?"
Miss Sylvia asked Shard, who counted:
"My [Night Watchman], John Flynn of the New World Mutual Aid Society’s [Sword of the Wind King], Vampire Kind’s [Sorrow of Blood], [Sacrificial Bone Sword] in the hands of Dragon Feast Cult, the [Angel’s Right Arm] Miss Eles mentioned to me. That’s five, if each corresponds to a candidate for The Chosen One, that’s quite something."
Iluna raised an eyebrow:
"Angel’s Right Arm?"
She wasn’t aware of this.
"Yes, that Angel-Level sword. Tomorrow, Miss Eles and I are going to retrieve that sword, if all goes well, you’ll see it when you come back tomorrow night."
Iluna then nodded:
"Previously, everyone knew that weapon-type relics are rare, especially sword-type relics.
Unexpectedly, now just in this city of Moon Bay, there are already five. But Shard’s guess makes sense, the appearance of relic swords here is definitely connected to The Chosen One, perhaps each candidate really does have a sword."
The Countess then counted again:
"This is quite interesting,[Sword of the Wind King] probably corresponds to the Circle Sorcerers from the New World Mutual Aid Society, [Sorrow of Blood] might belong to a Vampire Kind? Though I don’t wish to admit it, [Sacrificial Bone Sword] probably belongs to someone from [Dragon Feast Cult]; [Angel’s Right Arm] corresponds to a Circle Sorcerer associated with an Angel, as for Shard’s [Night Watchman]... Emilia?"
Iluna glanced at Shard, Shard distinctly saw her mouth moved a few times, uttering the word "Priest," Iluna, during the Milestone incident, witnessed Priest Augustus bestow Shard with a blessing amidst death, knowing the Priest possesses Angel’s Power.
Shard is reluctant to admit, Priest Augustus has the possibility of being a candidate for "Chosen of Light." But unfortunately, Priest Augustus indeed mentioned he would come to the Moon Bay Region after the summer exams and Holy Prayer Day next Monday.
