Chapter 2271: Chapter 2271: Coins and Eggs

Even Miss Danester thinks that relying on the Moonlight Greatsword’s ritual to reverse-engineer the Sword of Light is somewhat exaggerated.

After talking for a while, Shard also asked about arrangements for Emilia. He subtly revealed his desire to have Emilia stay by his side, under his protection, until the Moon Bay incident concluded. Naturally, Miss Danester understood his intentions:

"Now we can’t allow Emilia to return to the Academy. Considering the uproar you caused this morning, if the Church discovers that Emilia is from Saint Byrons, how would the True God Church react—goodness, Saint Byrons conducting such secretive activities behind the scenes."

She shook her head:

"Let Miss Sianod accompany you for now, along with the little Unicorn. Give me an address, and I’ll arrange for someone to deliver Unicorn feed in due time; even if Miss Sianod is temporarily inconvenienced, the Unicorn mustn’t be."

Shard did not comment on this and instead provided the address for "Princess Trading Partners." They had a warehouse there, and even if it’s discovered they’re linked to Lecia, it would be inconsequential—Lecia was right downstairs, and rumors about Shard and Lecia had long circulated in Tobesk. After all, they’ve been occasionally too intimate at parties, but people didn’t dare speak freely due to Miss Galina’s imposing presence.

Miss Danester did not intend to stay long here, and when the conversation concluded, Shard asked if she would spend the night here, noting he had many rooms. The female sorceress teased:

"I won’t intrude on your nightlife; you’re so busy during the day and equally so at night. I truly wonder how you balance your time."

Shard chuckled awkwardly and stood up with Miss Danester. She continued:

"I’ll inform the headmaster about what we discussed. Currently, the professors from Saint Byrons have just arrived at Moon Bay; they won’t make contact with you, pretending they’re oblivious."

"Understood."

Mia followed behind Shard as they descended the stairs:

"Ensure the Unicorn isn’t seen by others. This matter is troublesome, indeed transporting such powerful exotic creatures to an Archdiocese like Moon Bay without the Church’s knowledge is already problematic. If not for the demon, I wouldn’t have agreed."

"I understand, I’ll take good care of them."

Miss Danester nodded and descended the staircase corner with Shard, facing the lobby below. The young women who were secretly listening up until now were no longer present; only Luviya, taking on the role of a hostess, came from the first-floor lounge to bid farewell to Miss Danester alongside Shard.

"Don’t forget next week’s exam."

Before leaving, she reminded Shard and Luviya, then stood outside the steps and waved to them, transforming into a ray of moonlight and disappearing into the moonlit night.

The door was gently closed, and Shard and Luviya both let out a sigh of relief. The cat, standing on a higher stair level, watched them and ascended once it was clear Shard wasn’t leaving. The Red-Haired Princess peeked from the first-floor lounge:

"Did she leave?"

"Yes, she’s gone."

Shard replied, so Miss Galina also peeked from her side:

"Good, she’s gone. That really scared me earlier. Apart from His Excellency the Speaker, this was my first close encounter with a Thirteen-Ring Sorcerer. Shard, she really cares for you; we listened from below, and she wasn’t blaming you at all; rather, she wanted to protect you from being discovered."

Lecia nodded along, and Luviya chuckled:

"Don’t stand here talking anymore; aren’t you tired enough from standing earlier? Let’s go upstairs—now that the guest is gone, this place is just us, family."

The reason they dared to eavesdrop downstairs without fear of being caught wasn’t due to any special hiding technique but rather because Miss Danester seemed to have accepted that all the women in the house at this time were Shard’s.

Shard also understood why they appeared here tonight; he had left a letter anticipating their arrival:

"Has Dorothy already informed you that Tifa and the others safely arrived at Moon Bay?"

Shard asked Lecia, while he and Lecia sat on the long sofa, with Luviya and Miss Galina seated to the side.

"Yes, she mentioned it, but we wanted to hear you say it again. For instance, regarding the morning’s events, Dorothy’s account wasn’t as detailed as yours."

"In any case, everything’s over now. Dorothy will return with me tomorrow; Angelina is safe with Emilia at Moon Bay."

"Indeed, and she’s accompanied by the Unicorn,"

Miss Galina added, her expression visibly displeased:

"If I had known there was a Unicorn at Moon Bay earlier, I would’ve gone no matter what. Bella and the others will definitely boast about it later. Hmph~ I know them well."

"The little Unicorn isn’t particularly fond of Dorothy. I think even if you went, it wouldn’t be very fond of you either."

Lecia remarked with a smile, leading to Miss Galina’s silence.

"Is the appearance of the Sword of Light truly irreproducible?"

Luviya asked again from the side, and Shard nodded decisively:

"Emilia attempted numerous experiments this afternoon. You see, I even left the Night Watchman with her temporarily to see if the sword can be drawn again. However, I’m pessimistic about the possibility."

"But at least it succeeded once, which is a good sign."

Lecia encouraged, and Shard then opened the suitcase he had just brought into the house, taking out the five Relic Coins inside:

"Luviya, would you like to do some divination? This is the spoils of war from defeating that demon."

The Red-Haired Witch beside them looked at them curiously. She had only heard that Luviya could perform special divinations but had never seen it firsthand. However, Miss Diviner with purple eyes shook her head:

"Not yet, wait until you find the third piece of Dragon Scales in Moon Bay, and bring back the incomplete Rune after the dragon scales resonate."

"But what are these coins?"

Lecia raised her hand and picked up one of them:

"Shard, do you recognize these relics?"

"[The Greedy One exchanges soul for gold coins]."

Luviya picked up the largest gold coin and read the inscription on it:

"It’s so nostalgic, encountering this type of coin again.

This is a Sage-Level Relic [Pirate’s Blood Money], the total number of such relics is fixed, not infinite, and a single piece does not reach Sage-Level power. The first Special Coin I ever obtained was this one, and this kind of thing indeed might appear in port cities (Chapter 218)."

"Look at these two—[Blue is the color of wisdom], Poet-Level Relic [Coin of Wisdom], put the coin in water and then drink the liquid, it can temporarily increase intelligence. This is also among the few currencies in the [Dice Story Collection] that can change rules."

Miss Galina also picked up two coins and played with them by making them collide in her hand.

The last two coins were ones Shard had never seen before. The Whisper Element of the unfamiliar coins was not very strong, at least weaker than the other two types of coins. They were overall gray-white like eggshells, made of unknown alloy, one side bearing an egg pattern with the number "1" on it, and the other side featuring complex insignias resembling a mix of weeds and feathers.

On the outer edge of the coins, there was a line of ancient text—

"[Royalty grants you an egg.]"

Shard translated the meaning of these words, and the ladies around him covered their mouths and laughed, even the maids holding tea trays beside them revealed smiles.

"Why, is this relic very famous?"

The girls on the sofa looked at each other, finally Luviya spoke up:

"Not exactly famous, but very interesting. Poet-Level Relic [Egg of the King]."

The trait is to bury the coin in the ground, and when dug out, the coin turns into an egg, and it’s a very large and delicious egg. The containment method simply requires keeping the coin clean, the negative trait is that sometimes the egg obtained is not a chicken egg, but the egg of other dangerous creatures, the more common one being the egg of a sub-species demon ’Demon Bird.’

Lecia continued laughing while introducing:

"This relic first appeared in the Fourth Era, during that Dark Turmoil era. Based on existing literature analysis, it seems a group of chickens somehow gained wisdom, then established a small kingdom in an abandoned farm and created these coins using unknown means.

The chicken kingdom was ruled by a rooster as King, and the rest of the kingdom’s members were hens, with the rooster king distributing the right to hatch eggs. When this kind of coin was given to a hen, it represented... No, I can’t go on, it’s too ridiculous."

Miss Galina then laughed and continued:

"These are all from literature records, but those records come from the Madman Poet’s story collection [Tale of Mountains and Sea]. The content inside is probably more imagined, and the true origin of this relic won’t be so simple. In other words, this explanation is somewhat too crazy.

In any case, this is almost the safest kind of relic, of course, also the most useless relic."

But regardless of whether the trait is useful or not, at least this relic can be used for special divination. Thus, combined with the remaining [Wrath of the Thunder God], Shard now had six coins in his possession, a rare moment of abundance.

But since Luviya did not want to do divination now, the coins were taken by Shard to the Hidden Space downstairs for safekeeping.

When he returned to the second floor holding little Mia, the three ladies all stood up, and Luviya waved to him:

"The night is still long, don’t waste time. We’ve agreed to do it together, hope you have no objections."

Shard stood there blinking:

"You mean... study together?"

"How boring, I thought we could fool him."

Lecia shook her head, but Shard was indeed not guessing wrong:

"It’s not just Saint Byrons, Zaras Literary Academy also has exams coming up, let’s study together, it’s not even eight in the evening yet, no need to rest so early."
