Chapter 715: Krayos’ Warning
The lion sovereign brought Krayos to his mansion and immediately took him to the great hall.
"Tell the servants to bring in the refreshments." The lion sovereign instructed his subordinates.
With Krayos around, he didn’t dare sit on the main seat. He sat on the couch adjacent to Krayos. Meanwhile, his right-hand man, Blood Scar, sat beside him.
"If you had informed me that you would be coming today, I would have prepared a grand banquet to welcome you, Elderman. I hope you don’t find my hospitality lacking." The lion sovereign might be arrogant, but in front of this living wyvern, he didn’t have the guts to put on airs.
Krayos was recognized as the strongest expert in the surrounding region. He had been a Calamity-grade beast for centuries and it was believed that he was close to advancing to the next stage. As for whether this information was reliable or not, the lion sovereign was uncertain.
Krayos waved his hand indifferently. "I didn’t come here to enjoy your Northern Golden Savanna’s food. I am here to discuss the human faction that came to Red Mountain Territory."
Hearing this, the smile on Krayos’s face vanished. Using his hand, he signaled to his subordinates to leave.
As soon as they left, the lion sovereign spoke in a cold voice. "Elderman Krayos, I respect you as an elder, but if you are here to interfere with my domain’s affairs..."
Krayos stared deeply at the lion sovereign. "Reginus, you must remember that your Golden Lion Tribe is not the owner of Red Mountain Territory. You may be revered as the sovereign of the various beastkin races here, but the true overlord of this vast land is the Sacred Beast Pavilion."
Hearing this name being mentioned, the lion sovereign’s face became gloomy.
The Sacred Beast Pavilion was one of the behemoths of Cangnan. They had hundreds of millions of vassal troops and their territory stretched far and wide. As for Beyonders like him or Krayos, the pavilion had thousands of them if not over ten thousand.
"You, Reginus, are only a tiny lord assigned to guard Red Mountain Territory. In the grand scale of things, Beyonders like us are nothing. If you don’t want your title gone, tame that arrogance of yours." Krayos warned him.
Reginus’ face darkened. He wanted to retort, but he knew the other party was right. Even Blood Scar who sat next to him lost his courage upon hearing the Sacred Beast Pavilion’s name.
After a moment of silence, Reginus looked at Krayos and asked. "Then what do you want me to do?"
Krayos was satisfied with the change in his attitude. "I want you to cooperate with this human faction. Although they are outsiders, I am sure your factions can agree. I will help you facilitate this cooperation, but you must give me your word that you will not be hostile to them."
Reginus took a deep breath and stayed silent for a long while.
He treated Red Mountain Territory as his own backyard. It didn’t make him feel good to cede a part of his land to outsiders, especially to a human faction.
Reginus seemed to have made a decision. With a grim expression, he said. "I can only give them a small area on the western side of Red Mountain Territory. If they ask for more, I will destroy them even if it means offending the Sacred Beast Pavilion!"
Krayos nodded. This was already within his expectations. He could only hope that the human faction wouldn’t be greedy for more land and resources. "Good! I will send word to the Double Sun Firm and have them arrange for a formal meeting between you and the leaders of that human faction."
Reginus nodded. He no longer had the mood to chat with Krayos so he excused himself and had Blood Scar stay to entertain the guest.
Seeing him leave with a dark face, Blood Scar awkwardly smiled at Krayos. "Elderman, you know about my chief’s personality. Asking him to part with his land is like forcing him to cut off his own finger. I hope you understand his feelings."
Krayos snorted. "I know, but the Sacred Beast Pavilion doesn’t care about its subordinates’ feelings. They only want us to follow their commands. If we disobey them, all of us here will be annihilated."
Blood Scar was speechless. He didn’t say anything more, afraid that he would annoy the old wyvern.
Soon, the servants came to serve the refreshments, but both men were no longer in the mood for it.
Seeing this, Blood Scar immediately instructed the servants to arrange Krayos’ accommodation.
...
When Orlov returned to his village, he noticed that there was something unusual. The gatekeepers he left to guard the entrance were gone, replaced by a pair of wolf beastkin warriors. Furthermore, he also saw that some homes had been burned and destroyed.
"The Grey Wolf Tribe is here! They attacked our village!" Orlov’s eyes turned red in panic and anger.
It has only been several days since he left the village, but the enemy tribe had already conquered his home.
Lorans also noticed the anomaly so he quickly commanded his subordinates to surround the entire village.
"Surround the village! Don’t let anyone leave!"
"Yes, lord!"
"We follow your command!"
The ten Heroic knights led their respective troops to encircle the village.
Their actions pulled Orlov and the distressed goat beastkin warriors back to their senses.
"Lord Lorans, please help us retake the village!" Orlov pleaded.
Lorans calmly nodded. "Don’t worry."
His composure made Orlov feel more assured. He had traveled with this man and his army of warriors so he knew how powerful they were. No matter how strong the Grey Wolf Tribe was, they would be powerless in front of these men.
The sudden appearance of one thousand human cavalrymen made the wolf beastkin warriors scared. They didn’t even bother to defend the gate and hurried inside the village to report the situation to their chief.
"Chief, bad news! Bad news!"
