Chapter 708: Ethenburg and the Obsidian Tower
"Humans? Is he one of the old things from the Double Sun Firm?"
Blood Scar shook his head with a frown. "It doesn’t look like it. The man we saw wore armor bearing the insignia of a flying dragon with a diamond shield. He seems to be from a human faction outside our Red Mountain Territory."
The sovereign’s eyes flashed with rage. "So those dirty, pig-arsed humans of the Double Sun Firm have chosen to ally with outsiders! Are they trying to start a war with us?!"
Blood Scar stared deeply at the furious sovereign and responded with a sneer. "The man said that they do not intend to fight us, but the shit-faced bastard wants a piece of our land for his million-strong army."
Hearing this, the sovereign’s aura burst forth with great intensity. His face darkened and thick bloodlust filled the air.
"How dare those lesser beings covet what is mine?! The entire Red Mountain Territory belongs to my Golden Lion Tribe!"
His voice shook with fury, his eyes seemed as if they could spew fire. Even Blood Scar, who was known for his bravery, felt a wave of fear when faced with the sovereign’s wrath.
"They are mere livestock that I have chosen to fatten up!"
"Chief, I understand your rage, but we must not underestimate this human force." Blood Scar placed a hand on the sovereign’s shoulder.
Noticing the rising displeasure in the sovereign’s eyes, he quickly added. "Including the guy who just advanced, they have two confirmed Beyonders. We don’t have information on their army yet, but they might have more of what we have seen and heard. Moreover, they might be allies with the Double Sun Firm."
Breathing heavily, the Golden Lion Sovereign walked unhurriedly toward the wall, and with a guttural growl, he punched a hole through to quell his rage.
Bang!
The entire building shook from his punch, alerting the warriors outside.
"Lord Chief, what happened?!"
"Lord Chief, are you alright?!"
Beastkin warriors rushed inside the chamber, their faces masked with concern.
Blood Scar waved them off and barked. "Leave, all of you! There is nothing to see here!"
The beastkin warriors hesitated, but they all complied when they saw Blood Scar glaring at them impatiently.
Having released his pent-up rage, the sovereign looked at Blood Scar. "I want all the chieftains of our vassal forces in my hall within a week! If they are not here by then, then their entire tribe will become our slaves for all eternity!"
Blood Scar took a deep breath and nodded. "I shall deliver your message to them."
The sovereign snorted and gestured with his hand.
Seeing this, Blood Scar didn’t dally any further. He turned and left the training chamber.
After he left, the Golden Lion Sovereign walked toward the wooden chest at the far left end of the chamber. He lifted the lid, revealing a mace made from glowing red metal.
It seems like you will taste the blood of humans yet again, my friend...
...
Beyond Red Mountain Territory is a land of exiles where good and bad somehow coexisted. In this place, one can find members of various races, a true rarity in a world mired with conflicts.
This is the city of Ethenburg. Despite its colorful reputation, the city is orderly and maintains a high level of security. The reason for this is because of the presence of a powerful faction, the Obsidian Tower, which is led by ten great eldermen.
The Obsidian Tower sits at the very center of Ethenburg surrounded by tall ramparts with four watchtowers on all four sides. It is the very symbol that maintained the peace of the city.
At this moment, a carriage bearing the symbol of two suns, arrived at the front gate of the tower.
An old yet dignified man stepped out of the carriage with his hands behind his back.
When the gatekeepers saw the face of the visitor, their eyes widened in surprise. They hurried toward him and bowed in unison. "Elderman Rolferth!"
"It has been a while, Elderman Rolferth!" A lizardman in gilded silver armor stepped forward with a fawning smile.
Rolferth was inwardly disgusted upon seeing this lizardman warrior, but he didn’t show it on his face.
Slimy lizard bastard, if it wasn’t for your father, you wouldn’t be a commander of the tower’s defense army.
"Lord Commander Niti, it has been a while indeed." He smiled faintly.
The lizardman warrior seemed oblivious to his inner thoughts and warmly invited him while gesturing to his men to open the gate. "Open the gate and make sure the elderman’s carriage is cleaned and looked after!"
"Yes, Lord Commander!"
Rolferth followed Niti along the cobbled pathway which led to the tower’s main door.
"How is the firm’s slave business, Lord Elderman? I hope it has been good, hasn’t it?"
Rolferth was displeased, but he still responded with a forced smile. "Of course! Business has been great."
"I am happy to hear that. My father invested a great deal of our family’s wealth and resources to help you grow that business so it gladdens me to see it prosper. Hahaha!" Niti laughed.
Rolferth’s face twitched with annoyance.
This oblivious, whore-loving lizard! I want to tear off his ugly mug!
"I have always been grateful for Elderman Lir’s trust in me."
Niti looked pleased by his words, his lizard face blooming into a smile.
He continued to talk about other matters which greatly annoyed Rolferth. If not for the other’s background, he might have pummeled his lizard face with a fist.
As soon as they arrived at the main door, Niti said. "I won’t follow you inside the tower, Lord Elderman. I hope you will excuse me. I still have work to do."
"I enjoyed your company, Lord Commander. Please return to your work. Don’t mind this old man." Rolferth responded.
Niti chuckled and left after a slight bow of his head.
Rolferth stared at his back and turned away with a snort. As he entered the main door, he mumbled to himself. "The annoying fly is finally gone."
