Chapter 814: Chapter 811 Flight

The next day, at the air force base not far from Sedona City.

Today was air force training day. Many soldiers were already prepared on the flight platform. Meanwhile, eight people stood in a row below, looking up. These eight were recruits who hadn’t been drafted long ago; today, they would begin their first test flight.

The soldiers on the platform were all veterans, already highly proficient in flying. Tony had arranged for them to demonstrate for the recruits today.

"Today is your first test flight. I hope you absorb everything during the demonstration..." Tony looked sternly at the eight recruits in front of him, speaking words of encouragement.

Since they had passed multiple layers of selection to finally enter the air force, it proved their talent and comprehension were superior to ordinary people. After systematic training, for today’s first test flight, Tony was very curious to see how far they could ultimately go.

"Yes, sir!" The eight recruits immediately shouted loudly. Their faces were expressionless, but their eyes held nervousness and excitement.

"Very good," Tony nodded in satisfaction and then walked onto the flight platform.

"Get ready. Number One, take off! Number Two, standby!" Tony shouted at the top of his lungs. "Standard interval, ten seconds!"

Following this, under the excited and nervous gazes of the eight recruits, these veterans rushed off the cliff one after another, all jumping down without leaving a single one behind.

Before long, the veterans were gliding through the sky, making the recruits extremely envious, even though they had seen people fly more than once.

"So cool..." A recruit muttered softly. They had seen this scene many times, but every time they saw it, they felt thrilled. After all, humans soaring into the sky was an incredibly mind-blowing concept no matter how you looked at it.

But this time was different, because next, it would be their turn to jump.

When these eight recruits were initially selected, they didn’t know they were being drafted into the air force, as it was classified.

Although they eventually found out and were given the chance to reconsider, not a single one chose to quit.

In their minds, anyone who wasn’t an idiot wouldn’t quit. After all, flying was something they had never even dared to dream of, and now they had the chance to achieve it.

Ten minutes later, all the veterans landed one by one on the flight platform, high-fiving each other for yet another safe landing.

"Now, get ready," Tony said in a deep voice, his face stern as he looked at the recruits.

"Yes, sir!" The eight recruits replied in unison. Then, one after another, they stepped onto the flight platform, standing ready.

"If you feel you cannot complete it, pull the parachute immediately. At the same time, do not worry; the birdkin are protecting you," Tony said deeply, simultaneously looking up into the air ahead, where eight birdkin were already standing by.

"Yes, sir!"

"Now get ready. Number One, take off! Number Two, standby!" Tony shouted at the top of his lungs again.

Because they were recruits, Tony didn’t dare let them jump down in rapid succession.

After Recruit Number One leaped from the flight platform, the strong wind whipped his face, but he still struggled to keep his eyes open, maneuvering the glider’s direction just as he had been taught in training.

Although it was difficult to maintain balance in the air, he really did fly up, which made Tony nod in satisfaction.

"Get ready. Number Two, take off! Number Three, standby!" Tony shouted, looking at the second recruit.

Then Number Two also jumped down. Without any surprises, Number Two successfully took flight. However, it was hard to control the direction and balance in the air, which would require much more practice.

And so, after Number Two jumped, Number Three jumped, all the way to the final Number Eight. Only Number Five had a slight mishap during the descent and almost failed.

"Very good." Tony was satisfied inwardly. For recruits to achieve this level on their first flight was already very good.

Seeing the recruits under the veterans’ guidance—test flying, landing, and so on—succeeding time and time again, Tony finally felt relieved.

Next, he habitually looked toward the plaza not far behind him. There was a figure there, stubbornly flapping her wings over and over again, trying to make herself fly.

Today, Amelia came here to practice flying just like usual. However, today was different; this time, she wanted to truly make herself fly.

She was seen getting into a half-squat, then jumping. The wings on her back spread out, flapping as she lifted off the ground. Amelia controlled her wings, leaving the ground by more than two meters this time.

She could already hover off the ground, but sometimes she would lose balance and easily fall back down, which was why she had been practicing.

It had been too long since Amelia had last flown, and she wasn’t very old. Her previous feelings for flight had long vanished. Furthermore, her wings had only recently grown back fully; she wasn’t quite used to controlling them, unlike when she had grown them out from childhood.

Today was different because her wings had fully grown out. This time, she would fly on her own.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh...

"I can do this," Amelia encouraged herself in her heart. Her wings flapped, and her body slowly ascended.

One meter, two meters, three meters...

This scene immediately startled the surrounding birdkin who were training. One of them immediately flew over, circling beside Amelia, terrified she might accidentally fall.

Amelia turned to glance at her, bit her lower lip, but said nothing. This was her first time trying to fly this high since her wings had been cut.

Then Amelia leaned her body forward, her wings flapping forward in coordination, and she flew ahead. She flew lower and lower, and just when others thought she was going to hit the ground, her body ascended once more.

At this point, Amelia’s lips curved into an imperceptible smile. She knew how to fly. She had mastered the flight techniques of her new wings. This was all thanks to her daily practice, otherwise, it would have taken much longer to adapt.

"I’m going to find father and tell him I can fly." This was Amelia’s first thought. Flapping her wings, she headed in the direction of the castle under Tony’s astonished gaze.

Not only Tony, but that birdkin was also a bit dazed.

"What are you staring blankly for? Follow her!" Tony’s expression changed, and he immediately bellowed at the dazed birdkin.

This was Amelia’s first true flight in years. If she flew off alone and something happened to her, the Master would skin him alive.

Tony knew that Amelia was the adopted daughter of Lucas; absolutely nothing could happen to her.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh...

Only then did the birdkin react, hurriedly flapping her wings to catch up. Actually, even without Tony saying anything, she would have done so. Otherwise, if an accident occurred, she wouldn’t be able to face Big Sister Rhea when she returned.

Amelia also knew someone was following her, but she didn’t care. She only wanted to find her father and show him how she could fly.
