Chapter 250: The Storm-Mane Encampment, A Friendly Welcome

Dante watched the interaction.

His Intuition stat, which had been relatively quiet, suddenly flared with a sharp, aggressive, highly localized warning.

It wasn’t a warning about an ambush or a physical attack.

It was a warning about the liquid in the goblet.

Dante didn’t hesitate. He didn’t draw a sword or shout a warning.

As Seren brought the glowing pink nectar to her lips, Dante triggered [Phantom Dash].

Because of [Chrono-Shift], the teleportation skill had zero casting time.

He vanished from his position near the tent entrance.

He materialized instantly directly behind Seren’s chair. The localized sonic boom of his materialization was perfectly controlled, muffled enough that it didn’t stun the occupants of the room, but the sudden displacement of air startled the Princess.

Before Seren could take a sip, Dante reached over her shoulder and smoothly plucked the silver goblet right out of her hands.

"Dante?" Seren asked, looking up at him in confusion.

Raijin froze. The warm, welcoming smile on the Clan Leader’s face completely shattered. His golden eyes widened in a flash of genuine, unfiltered panic before he rapidly attempted to reassert his calm facade.

"Champion," Raijin said, his voice tightening slightly. "That nectar is formulated specifically for Sylvan physiology. It is a royal blend."

"I’ve been fighting in a toxic swamp all day," Dante said, keeping his voice entirely flat and conversational. "I’m parched."

He didn’t wait for Raijin to argue.

Dante brought the silver goblet to his lips and downed the entire measure of glowing pink nectar in a single, smooth gulp.

He set the empty goblet back onto the heavy oak table with a loud *clack*.

"Delicious," Dante stated.

The system interface instantly flashed violently in the center of Dante’s vision. It wasn’t a standard buff notification. The text was a blaring, aggressive, hostile crimson.

[Warning: Lethal Toxin Detected.]

[Toxin Identified: Soul-Shackle Poison.]

[Tier: Administrative Hazard.]

[Description: A highly concentrated, localized admin-level virus. Upon consumption, the toxin forcibly overwrites the target’s neural link, inflicting absolute, permanent paralysis and initiating a mandatory, un-cancellable character deletion sequence. Ignores standard poison immunities.]

Dante stared at the prompt.

It was a localized execution protocol disguised as a drink. Raijin hadn’t just poisoned the Princess. He had attempted to feed her a developer tool designed to permanently delete her NPC code from the server.

But the system prompt wasn’t finished.

The bright, blazing silver light of Dante’s [Aetherial Nectar] buff triggered instantly.

[Status: Absolute Immunity Active.]

[System Override: Administrative Hazard Neutralized.]

[Toxin purged from localized physiology.]

The permanent, physiological rewrite Dante had purchased from Vespera in Ironhold completely bypassed the ’ignores standard poison immunities’ clause of the trap. The [Aetherial Nectar] wasn’t a standard immunity; it was a fundamental alteration of his avatar’s code.

Dante didn’t take a single point of damage. His avatar didn’t paralyze. The deletion sequence completely failed to initiate.

Dante didn’t immediately reveal the trap. He stood perfectly still, letting the silence stretch in the heavy command tent.

Raijin stared at him. The Clan Leader was gripping the edges of the oak table so tightly the thick wood was visibly cracking under his massive fingers.

Raijin was waiting for Dante to collapse. He was waiting for the golden-armored anomaly to turn into gray static and vanish.

Five seconds passed. Then ten.

Dante crossed his arms, looking down at the Clan Leader.

"So," Dante said softly, his red eyes locking onto Raijin’s golden ones. "When were you planning on telling her?"

Seren looked back and forth between Dante and Raijin, completely baffled by the sudden, suffocating tension in the room.

"Telling me what?" Seren asked nervously.

Raijin realized the poison had failed. The Clan Leader didn’t try to play it off. He didn’t try to offer an excuse or pretend it was an accident.

The warm, welcoming, loyalist persona completely dissolved.

Raijin stood up from the table. His massive, seven-foot-tall frame towered over the seated Princess.

"You aren’t supposed to be here, anomaly," Raijin growled, his voice dropping into a harsh, vibrating, completely hostile register. "That toxin was coded by the Enforcer himself. It was a guaranteed execution."

Seren gasped, scrambling out of her chair and backing away from the table. "Raijin... what are you saying?"

"I’m saying the game was rigged from the start, Princess," Raijin sneered, drawing a massive, crackling silver broadsword from his hip.

The Clan Leader didn’t look at Seren. He glared entirely at Dante.

"The Sovereign is weak," Raijin declared, his voice echoing loudly, ensuring the guards outside the tent could hear him. "She clings to the old lore. She refuses to adapt to the Arch-Administrator’s New Order. When the Enforcer offered my clan absolute, localized rulership over the Fey Continent in exchange for her head, I didn’t hesitate."

Raijin gestured to the empty goblet on the table.

"I placed the administrative seal on your magic, Seren," Raijin confessed proudly. "I chased you into the Mire. I fully expected you to die to the crocodiles. When the scouts reported that an anomaly was escorting you back to the lake, I realized I had to handle the execution personally."

"You’re a traitor," Seren whispered, tears streaming down her pale face. "You sold out your own Sovereign to the system."

"I secured the future of my clan!" Raijin roared, slamming his broadsword against the heavy oak table, splitting the wood in half. "The Arch-Administrator is resetting the board! The old gods are being purged! When Titania falls, the Storm-Manes will rule the ashes!"

Raijin pointed his crackling silver sword directly at Dante.

"You should have let her drink it, Outworlder," Raijin hissed. "It would have been painless. Now, my entire clan is going to tear you apart."

Dante didn’t look worried. He didn’t activate [Asura’s Descent]. He didn’t summon [Voidsever].

He looked at Erebus.

The Half-Soul Celestial was still sitting at the shattered table. She had ignored the entire dramatic monologue, fully focused on finishing a massive plate of roasted swamp-beast ribs.

She swallowed the last bite, wiping her hands on her gothic dress, and looked up at the towering, furious Clan Leader.

"You broke the table," Erebus stated flatly.

"I am going to break your neck, abomination," Raijin sneered.

Dante smiled. A cold, incredibly dangerous expression.

He didn’t need to fight the Clan Leader.

"Erebus," Dante commanded softly. "He’s annoying me."
