Chapter 2156: Catastrophe in the Chaos (II)

“You are just a master of dao, not of spirit or the divine!” denounced Skyward. The dao master of life and death hovered in the void, isolated and cut off from all others. He looked around blankly.

I am... just a dao master, not a spirit master!

Enlightenment hovered on the edges of his comprehension. The massive millstone over his head looked very similar to his, but was also different.

What was the difference?

Why had his been spontaneously crushed?

Even if Skyward is stronger than me, he’s facing more than one opponent. How does he have the ability and strength to spare for this feat?

The dao master of death looked up, seeing the gigantic millstone come down on him.

“I want to see what’s the difference between your life and death and mine!” He gnashed his teeth and set his spirit on fire. He was deploying his dao strength to an utmost!

So what if he died in battle?

I just... want to know a little bit more. I’d like to see what is true life and death and what is Skyward’s life and death. Why am I weaker than him?

I am the dao master of life and death. When Li Hao and his people kill ninth ranks, they rely on other techniques and methods. They don’t necessarily use the strongest dao available to their opponent to defeat them. I refuse to believe that anyone’s dao in this world is stronger than mine of life and death!

There was a fleeting moment of beauty!

Life and death burned, great dao burned. The dao master of life and death raced toward the giant millstone, igniting himself with some madness and bitterness.

He immediately became part of Skyward’s millstone of life and death. It took only a split second for the ninth rank to understand something.

“I see...” he murmured. “So the great dao... is split into two extremes. I see... I should’ve guessed that. Was Silver Moon your experimental laboratory? Or... were you and War... in cahoots all this time...”

Skyward did not give him an answer. He simply operated the millstone with a laugh. “You might not actually lose if you’d truly grasped the dao of life and death and grown stronger from it. What a pity that your daos are too weak!”

Boom!

Endless power of life and death dissipated when another massive explosion rang out. The humongous millstone grew brighter and shimmered with light as it absorbed the energy.

“Life Death...” Skyward murmured with a smile. The dao master of life and death had fallen.

This was his first time killing a ninth rank.

In the world outside.

Calamity and the rest saw light flash before their eyes. They strove mightily to break the obstruction in space, but blinked with astonishment when they returned to the chaos outside.

Six ninth ranks had jointly rushed out to attack Skyward, but the presence of life and death disappeared a heartbeat later. The rest were stunned when they focused their eyes.

Life Death... was gone!

He was the strongest in the daos of life and death, yet he was gone in a split second.

This wasn’t single combat!

The dao master of life and death was strong enough among his peers. Even if he wasn’t at peak strength anymore, neither was Skyward. Why had he died so easily? Although they’d all charged together, he’d died as soon as Skyward partitioned space!

The other ninth ranks paled with horror.

“As I thought... you cultivated life and death back in the day for what we see today,” murmured Calamity. “The envoys of life and death, yin and yang, five elements... If they hadn’t died before this battle, you would’ve killed them yourself!”

The man ground his teeth, finally understanding everything.

Skyward!

So the man had planned for this a very long time ago. Calamity had once wondered just how much stronger Skyward could be than the dao master of life and death, if they both commanded the same daos.

Today, that question was answered. The dao master had died in the blink of an eye! Who could stand against Skyward, in light of that?

I can’t, no one can. Li Hao and the rest can’t either!

Whether it was the Human King or other powerhouses, all of their expressions shifted drastically. Even Emperor Yu, having killed Chaos Sky earlier, looked on solemnly.

They’d killed ninth ranks too!

But no one had done so in such an easy fashion, especially when fighting one against six. Life Death had been gone after a split second, demonstrating a level of strength that was far greater than all of theirs. Li Hao had killed two ninth ranks just now, but he hadn’t been nearly this noncommittal about it.

It’d taken the span of a breath for everything to be over. No disturbance had leaked out!

“Connect your dao origins to mine!” Calamity roared.

The others had their hearts in their mouths and no choice left to them. They erupted with spirit and connected their dao strength with Calamity, weaving an intersecting web.

“Catastrophe!” the man howled. “Smite demons!”

Endless lightning bolts rose in the void and thunder snarled with fury. An incredible amount of other dao strength flooded forth and raced for Skyward!

Calamity seemed to have returned to peak condition. Immense thunder tribulations covered the vicinity and unique ripples filled the area. The entire eastern border had become another Thunder Region.

Thick pillars of thunder and lightning materialized, surrounding Skyward.

“It would seem that you had the desire to do this many years ago,” Skyward sighed softly. “The formation in your Thunder Region is aimed at me, isn’t it? It surrounded my Skyward major world, supposedly to guard it. But what a pity for you, Calamity, that your ambitions run too big.”

Calamity glared frostily back without saying a word. The thunder pillars attracted more dao strength to them, to the point where all of chaos dao shook madly. It stood within the new Thunder Region, chaos strength flooding out of it to turn into more strength of calamity.

Rumble!

Space was completely torn apart and unending strength of calamity appeared. Skyward’s partitions were promptly smashed through. Calamity still didn’t say a word. He transformed all of the thunder pillars into massive axes and swung them at Skyward!

Six dao masters had encircled Skyward in a death match. It’d taken the strength of five to barely manage to trap Skyward.

Calamity turned to look in other directions. Apart from the six of them, there were eleven more ninth ranks still alive. They’d gone off to handle Silver Moon and others. He wanted to see if he could redeploy more people to his side and commandeer their dao strength.

What greeted the eye made him frown.

The Human King, little Human King, Su Yu, and Yuan Shuo were all equipped with strength sufficient for ninth ranks. The powerhouses of Myriad Realms and New Martial were also premier existences that could go toe-to-toe with ninth ranks.

More than one ninth rank was needed when it came to Su Yu and the Human King. After all, they had notches against ninth ranks on their belts already.

Eight out of the eleven ninth ranks were already focused on these people. The remaining three were looking around wildly and accumulating their strength because...

Li Hao was coming!

The young man strode through the void. Further rearrangement of ninth rank personnel was likely impossible once he arrived. Calamity scowled.

Damn it!

Did these people know how much trouble Skyward would bring them?? Even if they didn’t before, they should know now that Skyward had killed Life Death in an instant!

“Li Hao, do I need to explain how strong Skyward is after he killed Life Death like that?” Calamity said sternly. “If this continues, the five of us will all die to him! My Thunder Region won’t hold for long. Must you persist in your obstinance?”

“Don’t give me that, Calamity,” Li Hao chortled when he looked over. “You’re going to hold him off for a bit and then say that you’re almost done for only after I kill the rest of them, aren’t you? Must you really make me point it out?”

“You’re a fool!” Calamity sniffed.

“What a hypocrite,” chuckled the young man. “You’re worse than me!”

“You...” Calamity drew breath to yell at Li Hao before he suddenly frowned. “Don’t let up your guard! Continue to send forth dao strength and suppress Skyward!

“Everyone, our backs are against the wall in this fight! There is no way out for us, so each one we take down with us is a bonus! If we can’t kill the ringleaders, then we’ll kill their heavyweights! We won’t be going out for free!”

An explosion sounded just as he finished speaking. A black hole seemed to have appeared in the void. The dao master of devouring shouted, swallowing endless dao strength in one bite!

He roared, devouring multiple powerhouses!

They snarled in return. The golden Heavenly Dog exploded, but remained growling and sank its snow-white teeth into the dao master’s body like they were razor-sharp blades!

Several other heavyweights skilled in the same dao spontaneously fell to the ninth rank, regardless of whether they were from Myriad Realms, New Martial, or Silver Moon.

The dao master of devouring leered at the ants that faced him!

You puny things want to shake the heavens?! I may not be able to kill Li Hao and your other leaders, but I can kill you guys! That stupid dog dared employ the dao of devouring right in front of me. What a death wish!

A book landed in front of the ninth rank and figures walked out of its pages. They melded with their respective New Martial heavyweights, sending general battle strength soaring.

“My book of dao stems from everyone else’s dao,” the supreme said with a pale face. “Let’s see if you guys can handle it today as well and kill him. Show the rest that New Martial can kill ninth ranks even without the help of the Human King!”

Powerhouses saw their battle strength grow dramatically when they assimilated the supreme’s dao. Supreme Zhang himself took a deep breath and summoned a sword into his hand!

Even Su Yu looked over when he unsheathed it.

“Eh? The sword of human dao!”

Or rather, this was the sword of the human emperor!

“Human Emperor!” Su Yu called out when thought struck him.

A heavyweight walked out from the Myriad Realms crowd. He seemed in sync with Su Yu’s thoughts and rushed over to the supreme’s side with a massive seal in hand. A surge of strength from human dao rushed toward the supreme!

“Martial Uncle Hong!” Li Hao called out as well.

“I know.” Hong Yitang flew out of the fray and erupted with the faith of human dao. Longsword in hand, he also rushed toward the supreme.

“My thanks!” chuckled the latter. The three of them practiced similar daos, that of the people. Granted, the Human Emperor and Hong Yitang were more similar as there was also a certain responsibility within their daos.

One person wielded Earthturner Sword and the other held aloft the Human Emperor Seal. The strength of emperor dao flooded out and swept toward the supreme!

The presence of emperor dao flared from the supreme’s sword. It took only a moment for those of Silver Moon, New Martial, and Myriad Realms to send their strength to the trio.

“The three emperors of human dao are here to slay demons!” roared the supreme.

Human dao!

A massive character appeared in the void. So gigantic that it overwhelmed the worlds. It loomed over the emperor of devouring.

Devour’s eyes widened!

Human dao!

Their daos were interconnected and could resonate with each other! Enhancement from billions upon billions of citizens made it seem that, for a split second, all humans within the chaos denounced the same enemy!

Countless people’s faiths were integrated into one. The Human Emperor’s sword descended.
