Chapter 2130: New Era (I)
Unrest continued in the chaos.
Within the darkness.
Chaos Sky was still searching for the new chaos. He could sense some of the presence of order, but the chaos was so vast and the presence so faint that he was never able to lock onto its precise location.
The man grew irritated at the delay.
New Martial and the rest were waylaying ninth rank worlds everyday, strengthening themselves. He hadn’t had time to do anything about it because he’d lost so many of his subordinates. And now, he could only watch as his cultivation level remained stuck while New Martial and Silver Moon continued to grow stronger.
“Order...” Chaos Sky looked coldly at the Skyward replica tailing him. He really wanted to kill this annoying gnat that’d constantly been on his tail!
It was so annoying!
Chaos Sky had almost found the new chaos a few times, but that was when Skyward caught up to him. His appearance disturbed the surroundings long enough that Chaos Sky lost the lock. It was infuriating!
Was Skyward doing this on purpose?
No matter what, it was a given that Skyward didn’t want Chaos Sky to obtain the new chaos. This guy would rather the third generation cultivator of time appear than for Chaos Sky to leave with the goods!
“Skyward!” snapped Chaos Sky. “Are you sure that the third gen is easier to handle than Li Hao? You’ve been messing me up all this time. Be careful that you’re not spinning your own cocoon!”
Chaos Sky sneered. He was much more ominous and glowering these days than before. So long as order remained out of his grasp, the darkness, disorder, and desires that he’d absorbed over the years were erupting.
And after the death of the Disorder master, there was no one in control of disorder dao. In fact, Chaos Sky was closer to being the new Disorder master than he’d ever been.
One had to say, each bite and sip of life was preordained. Chaos Sky had wanted to employ order against disorder and darkness, making order the primary dao and disorder as the supplemental. He’d never fathomed that chaos would one day disperse and that he... might become the Disorder master of the new generation instead!
It was a laughable outcome with no alternative.
He didn’t want this to be the case, yet there was no helping it. Not to mention, doubts about his original plan had sprung up after he came in touch with the Disorder master.
Order had collapsed in the current chaos universe and disorder dao was mainstream. It was actually... much easier to operate through it now compared to having order unite the chaos.
The dao of disorder was everywhere in the chaos. Chaos Sky once sought to unite the will of the chaos, but found out that it was too hard to build order. It was ten times, a hundred times easier to do so with disorder.
He’d spent a million years to craft a western land of order. It’d only been a few short months since he took over disorder dao, and yet... he already felt that he stood a chance of reaching ninth rank and becoming the disorder dao master.
How laughable!
Destiny was this fickle and cruel sometimes.
The collapse of order and disorder taking center stage instead was turning out to be the key for him to set foot into ninth rank, but Chaos Sky was reluctant. Since it was harder to build order, that dao was naturally stronger.
His own dao was a combination of order and disorder. If he could verify his dao as a ninth rank through disorder...
Well, he didn’t know how he was supposed to feel about that.
“Chaos Sky, the order of the chaos universe has collapsed with the death of Disorder.” Skyward smiled when he sensed something. “New Martial, Silver Moon, and Spring Autumn are busy slaughtering everything they see. Darkness has come upon the chaos, so rising from it... might be a good idea.”
“And what can I do if I verify my dao through disorder?” Chaos Sky sneered. “What was the Disorder master worth among the ninth ranks? I might’ve been able to reach ninth rank a long time ago if that was all I wanted. Skyward, do you think I’ll verify my cultivation through that dao?!”
The integration of order and disorder were both needed to withstand Skyward. He’d killed the Order master back in the day clearly because he was wary of the man, but Disorder?
Skyward didn’t care about the former Disorder master in the slightest!
Order that rose from the ashes of defeat was the real powerhouse!
Skyward didn’t try to convince Chaos Sky otherwise. He simply smiled and moved on from the topic. There were pros and cons to Chaos Sky attaining ninth rank. Once he did, he would understand better that time was the key to stabilizing ninth rank.
Thus, there was a chance that this guy would join their camp instead once he became a ninth rank. If he didn’t...
Although both of them were searching for the new chaos at the moment, that didn’t mean that Chaos Sky was on the same team as the rest.
Order had never been on the same team with everyone else, but that didn’t matter. Chaos Sky would be of limited threat if he didn’t make it to ninth rank.
In return, Chaos Sky ignored Skyward as well. He probed the surroundings and vanished when he seemed to discover something. Skyward quickly looked around when he saw the reaction and followed in hot pursuit.
Had the guy found the new chaos?
As he teleported through space, Skyward also considered the matter of the third gen of time. He wasn’t referring to Disorder, but the real third generation cultivator. What kind of person was he? Would he be native to the new chaos, or would he be the reborn spirit of someone in Long Zhan’s group?
It would actually be less surprising if the third gen was from those who’d died in the previous battles. It would be quite interesting if it was someone new entirely.
A new person would find it very hard to ascend in a chaos filled with spirit from preexisting individuals. That would be a stunning accomplishment. Hence, Skyward rather hoped that the third gen was either Long Zhan, Yuan Shuo, or someone else...
It wouldn’t be surprising if it was Yuan Shuo. He was Li Hao’s master, after all. Perhaps the young man had made special arrangements for him.
The two quickly arrived at the edge of the eastern region. Chaos strength here undulated without stop. Chaos Sky furrowed his brows, looking at the restless part of the chaos.
“Here?” Skyward laughed from behind him.
Chaos Sky ignored him and continued to search.
“Skyward, this is the frontier of the eastern region,” he suddenly said. “I have some thoughts about Li Hao establishing his chaos. Tell me, is our chaos also artificially created?”
“Is there a point to pondering that question?”
“Not really,” sighed Chaos Sky. “It’s just that... the path of cultivation is endless. It stretches on infinitely. Is ninth rank its final destination? Someone as strong as you, who possesses all great daos, can’t seem to easily suppress the heavens either. Is there another path after ninth rank?”
“Who knows?” chuckled Skyward. “It would be very boring if we could see the end of cultivation when we first set foot on it! Perhaps that was why War, the cultivator of time from New Martial, despaired.
“After being trapped in the depths of the chaos all these years, the ninth ranks actually have certain thoughts in mind. It is simply the start of our pain when we reach the end of cultivation...”
Chaos Sky mulled over his words and didn’t say anything. He cast another glance at the edge of the chaos, at where chaos strength churned. He could sense... that order was inside.
Therefore, the new chaos was very likely to be close by. It was just covered by the chaos for the moment, like a newly born world. That was what made it difficult to locate.
“It should be in this area...” he said after a long while. “Aren’t you worried that Li Hao will summon the new chaos back to him once it matures? Skyward, you and I have room to work together with. We can seal off this area. Whether it is you or me who obtains it, it would be better than Li Hao retrieving it.”
“So you mean...” Skyward repeated thoughtfully.
“You can slice apart the void here with space and I’ll cover it with darkness. We’ll enclose this area and refine it bit by bit! We’ll make it so that the new chaos cannot escape once it appears in the chaos. Li Hao will have to give up his plans on retaking the new chaos then!”
“That will do.” Skyward nodded after some thought. “I don’t have any opinions otherwise, but refining it bit by bit is no small task...”
“What are you in a rush for when I’m in no rush?” Chaos Sky sneered. “Chaos dao is still settling down. It’s actually a chance for you guys if this drags on. It’s also a chance for New Martial, and for everyone but me!”
He sneered again, well aware of what these guys had in mind. He and possibly Li Hao might be the only ones who would not benefit from the situation dragging on. But it would be wonderful for everyone else.
Once chaos dao fully quieted down, that would be the cue for their primary bodies to return, even if they were not at peak strength.
Skyward didn’t say anything else. The two went about their business to seal off the area.
......
The south.
Li Hao suddenly whipped his head back and raised an eyebrow. A smile soon crossed his face.
They’ve got some skill, huh! The chaos is huge, but they managed to narrow down the range in such a short period of time.
A few months was nothing when it came to powerhouses. It was just the blink of an eye!
It’d only taken a little bit of effort for them to lock onto the general area. It seemed that the strength of order was becoming ever stronger. That meant to say that order was developing quickly in the new chaos.
“Only three days passed in the outside world when I entered the new chaos, but I lived several hundred years inside. And that was without the river of time in it...” Li Hao ran some quick calculations.
It’d been only four months since he created the new chaos. Based on the previous flow of time, only ten thousand years would’ve passed.
But that might have changed since creating the river of time. Li Hao didn’t know how much time had passed in the new chaos.
He wasn’t worried.
Li Hao sneered as he looked in the direction of the new chaos. It was a given that Chaos Sky wanted to seize it. But Skyward? Was he really in that much of a hurry?
“He’d be in a hurry if time didn’t mature... He doesn’t care about someone controlling time. What he’s worried about is that time stagnates and cannot develop...”
The dao of time had remained a sixth rank dao in Li Hao’s hands. However, it’d quickly developed to seventh rank and almost eighth rank in Disorder’s!
The dao of time officially became an eighth rank dao when it absorbed sufficient dao strength after the new chaos was created. It became the strongest dao of the new chaos, but it still wasn’t a ninth rank dao!
A ninth rank dao required sufficient spirit. Perhaps it had enough now, after all these years in the new chaos. Countless people were cultivating and perfecting it, after all. Perhaps it would set foot into ninth rank as soon as it emerged!
That was what Skyward wanted, wasn’t it?
