Chapter 466 - 466: Inside the Rift
Silva pulled out Abyssal Blade, and with a full-powered swing, he released a flame arc that cut through the air, slamming into your first wave of monsters and completely obliterating them. He took a few steps forward, walking with untouched confidence—the confidence and pride of a dark dragon.
More of different ranks came his way, all attacking at the same time. He smirked, pulled his sword back, the black flames engulfed his hand and blade as he thrust forward with full strength. It ripped through the air, creating a massive ripple as the sword flame shot out instantly, clearing out even more rift monsters instantly.
“Seems you already made it here, Master.” Drake appeared, floating on a platform of blood. He looked down at the monsters, snapped his fingers, and multiple blood spikes formed in the air before raining down like lightning and killing over twenty instantly.
Silva looked at him and gave a nod. He began walking toward the rift. The monsters tried to attack, but before they could, a blood spike penetrated their skulls and killed them.
That was until Silva came face-to-face with another monster—a rank five rift monster. It had a humanoid shape with four arms and a very long tail.
“The briefing of this mission was wrong,” Silva stated, because ever since they got here, the monsters ranged from rank one to five, not the acclaimed three to four.
The monster lunged at Silva. He could already tell that this monster was not in the same category as the rest—its speed was explosive, its line of attack, despite being straight, was hard to read.
When it was halfway, it leaped into the air, spun around, and attacked, its claws coming down at an incredible speed. Silva lifted his sword and blocked both hands. Clang!
The shockwave spread through. The monster leaped backward, then pointed its tail at Silva, charged up, and released a powerful blast. Silva leaped into the air, dodging the blast as it slammed into the ground, leaving a massive crater behind.
It looked up and saw Silva already mid-attack. It couldn’t react before a sword arc cut through the air and decapitated it instantly. Silva landed on the ground untouched and kept walking.
By now, Lily and Dawn had arrived as well and were battling the other monsters while Silva walked to the rift.
To make sure they moved faster, he summoned his clones and over a hundred of his abyss monsters as well. They appeared on the battlefield, and instantly the battle changed shape. The rift monsters believed they had a chance before, but now it was total domination and annihilation.
Silva made it to the rift without an issue. He could still feel the presence behind the rift getting close.
“Alright minds, let’s search for the weak spot.” He said, but before he could even do that, his danger signals blared, and a tentacle the width of several humans shot out of the rift and latched onto Silva, pulling him into the rift before anyone could react.
It pulled him into a vast darkness inside the rift and then let go of him. Silva looked for the direction from which he had come, but the rift had vanished—there was no way out now.
Then suddenly, from the darkness, a massive eye opened right in front of Silva. It pulsed, looking like the path to the abyss. The rest of the body glowed red and blue, with a slight purple inside.
Instantly, Silva knew what rank this rift monster was. It was a peak rank seven monster, already at the awakening stage. It must have been the one to cause the rift to come so it could consume this island and complete its evolution into an awakened.
The difference between rank six and rank seven monsters was not in the slightest close. It was a massive gap between them. The evolution to rank seven made them at least a hundred times stronger, so despite being just a rank seven, this rift monster was on a different power level.
Its entire body was made of bright tentacles that stretched out for tens and tens of meters. It was extremely massive, twisting in this enormous rift, and at its center was an eye that stared right at Silva.
The tentacles began moving, all shooting at Silva at the same time. Silva shot upward, avoiding each one, but he wasn’t fast enough as one wrapped around his leg, and another came swinging, charged with energy. It slammed into him, creating what looked like a massive explosion and throwing Silva back through the rift for hundreds of meters.
Silva finally came to a stop. He looked up and saw the tentacles already coming his way again. “In your dreams.” He opened his mouth, releasing his dragon’s breath. The black flames turned white as he used divine energy. It collided with the tentacles and knocked them back instantly, the flames burning through them.
“Squeeeeeeeeeeeel!” It let out a horrendous cry of pain, then started charging up its eye. A heavy blast shot out, a mix of red and blue ripping through the rift, over ten meters wide. There was no way Silva could dodge in time. He brought out his wings and covered his entire body in scales before using the wings to shield himself, taking the full brunt of the attack.
When the attack was over, he flapped his wings, shooting forward. The tentacles attacked, but he maneuvered around each of them, crossing the distance and thrusting his blade right into the eye of the monster, following up with a full blast of flames through the sword into the eye.
“Screeeeeeeeeeeeeee!”
It cried. All tentacles converged, and from their tips, they blasted at Silva. He pulled his sword out, turned around, and blocked the attacks all at the same time. When it was over, the monster used its now injured eye to blast Silva at point-blank range from behind, where he was incapable of dodging at all.
