"Boss, what do we do now?"

Derek asked.

His voice tinged with worry.

The dire situation they had found themselves in was one that disturbed the heart.

The same worry was felt by the other members of the team.

The team of four had been trying their best to deal with this new world in which they found themselves.

Ever since that time, the trembling had shook the whole world.

After everyone had been thrown out of the true outlands.

Nothing had remained the same.

The true outlands was no more.

The mortal world which had always been in a state of relative calm was no more.

Now, the mortal world had become a home to horrors that popped out of every corner.

"Keep calling for help."

Mia gave a terse reply.

She didn’t let the direness of their current situation overwhelm her.

On the screen displayed in front of her, she kept hitting the same sign.

She wasn’t the only one.

Even Lancelot and Sofia kept their eyes locked onto the space in front of them.

Each person’s attention was focused on their own screen.

Derek had no choice.

He also concentrated on hitting that sign.

His forehead furrowed.

He knew this was a long shot, but it was the only shot.

He couldn’t afford to give up, while hope remained.

After the world changed.

Adventurers could no longer enter the true outlands.

All the portals had disappeared.

But there was no need for the true outlands anymore.

The whole mortal world had turned into a true outlands of its own.

Their current situation was one they never expected to find themselves in.

They had been chased into this cave, and now they were trapped.

With no route to escape.

The strange creatures chasing them still waited outside the cave.

They had no way in.

But the team also had no way out.

Not with the heavy rock blocking the entrance.

The air in the cave had become dangerously low.

They no longer needed to fear the strange creatures killing them.

They would suffocate to death first.

They had been hunting a few strange creatures in this mountain forest.

Nothing different from what they had been doing since the world changed.

It was the easiest way to gain merit points.

It had been a smooth hunt.

That was until their hunt had drawn the attention of something beyond their power.

The hunter had become the hunted.

And that was how they found themselves in their current situation.

With no way out, all they could do was to pray to the heavens.

All in the hope that someone picked up their request for help.

What horrible luck!

Sofia thought of the team’s current situation.

They might not have been having it too easy since the change happened.

But they had never been backed to a corner like this.

Had their luck finally run out?

"Boss!"

Derek was already gasping for air.

He wasn’t the only one.

The others had started to feel light-headed took.

What was taking so long.

They weren’t in some remote area.

Someone should at least have come to save them by now.

There was a commotion outside the cave they had been locked in.

Everyone listened with bated breath.

It was the sound of battle.

It seemed help had come.

Not a moment too soon.

The screen in front of them also confirmed the fact.

They were no longer in danger.

Their request for help had been answered.

Mia hoped the one who came to save them had read the details of their request.

The large rock that blocked the cave’s entrance was lifted and thrown aside.

The team said a quick thank you to the heavens.

It seemed their misfortune had finally come to an end.

It was a large battle.

That was the first thing they noticed as they came outside.

The number of strange creatures here surpassed the ones that had chased them into the cave by dozens.

The hearts of the four team members shook with fear.

There were a group of adventurers fighting the strange creatures.

Despite their smaller number, they weren’t having any troubles.

A man stood to the side, he watched everything that happened.

He was like an instructor observing his students.

He had no need to take part in the fight.

The team could do nothing, they could only watch.

This was beyond their strength.

They stood to the side.

Out of the way.

The adventurers were methodical in their actions.

The strange creatures were no match.

The man nodded, as he observed.

He didn’t seem too concerned.

After some time, he stopped paying attention.

His thoughts turned elsewhere.

The team watched everything.

They still reeled in the shock of just surviving a dangerous situation.

Then their body tensed all of a sudden.

The man who had been calm and unbothered, had become alert.

The team members shook in fear.

If the strange creatures chasing them before had given them a feeling of being in mortal danger.

This new aura that radiated everywhere, gave them a feeling of assured death.

The man’s essence aura spread out.

It had the same weight as the one that now pressed down on them.

But there was no feeling of assured death.

It gave a sense of steadiness.

It offset the aura that had attacked their psyche.

The adventurers had aso disengaged from the strange creatures they were attacking.

They fell back, and gathered behind the man.

The strange creatures also retreated.

A new strange creature walked into sight.

It had all sorts of small shoots and leaves growing out from its body.

Unlike, the others which had bodies that looked like dry tree barks.

The man’s essence aura was tinged blue.

It spread out to cover everyone.

The team moved to stay near the adventurers behind the man’s back.

It seemed their streak of ill luck wasn’t yet over.

But they had to protect themselves whatever way they could.

They had to survive.

They watched as the strange creature stopped at a distance from them.

Its whole attention was focused on the man.

The man waited for just a moment.

But he accepted the unspoken challenge.

He walked to stand before the strange creature.

The two now stood in the middle of the two groups.

Everyone retreated even further.

Both the adventurers and the strange creatures.

This wasnt a fight they could bear the effect of.

These were no doubt two people who had broken the limits of their rank.

The two opponents stared each other down

Neither of them wanted to be the first to move.

The longer they stood there, staring at each other, the more tension everyone else felt.

Then it happened.

It was a collision that broke the air apart.

The two moved at speeds incomprehensible to the team members.

They couldn’t even see the blurs.

All they saw was the stones and dirt flying around.

The land around the two fighters was slowly destroyed.

Nothing around them survived.

As the fight continued, everyone began to move back even further.

Then the man staggered.

He was pushed back.

Everyone could finally see the condition of the two fighters.

The strange creature had most of the shoots and leaves on its body destroyed.

The man didn’t fare any better.

He bled from different lacerations on his body.

The strange creature moved forward.

Its aura filled with a furious intent.

It was about to attack.

When something dropped out of the sky

It landed with a thud.

It was the body of a man.
