Chapter 98 | Plan Turns To Shit!

Chapter 98: 98 | Plan Turns To Shit!

The six of them remained hidden behind the thick undergrowth, their eyes fixed on the massive saber-toothed tiger resting atop the boulder.

Its striped body rose and fell with slow, powerful breaths as it lazily licked the blood from one massive paw.

Beneath the boulder lay the mangled corpse of a three-horn deer, half-devoured, while two tiny cubs fought over scraps of fresh meat.

The atmosphere grew tense.

John’s expression turned grim. "A level 31, One-Star elite beast. We should leave."

Michael frowned. "Those cubs alone are worth hundreds of millions."

"They’re worth risking it," Jasmine added.

Lucy folded her arms. "Or they’re worth dying for."

Klen adjusted his glasses. "I vote we retreat."

Michael immediately shook his head. "I vote we fight."

Jasmine grinned. "Fight."

Lucy sighed. "Retreat."

John rubbed his forehead. "Retreat."

Three votes retreat, while the votes fight.

Silence settled over the forest. Slowly, everyone turned toward Andrew. It was now his decision.

Andrew stared quietly at the saber-toothed tiger. His Omniscient Perception swept over every inch of the battlefield.

Several seconds later, he looked at everyone. "We fight."

The hesitation instantly disappeared. John smiled. "So be it."

The six quickly gathered together to formulate a battle plan.

"Our original strategy won’t work," John said.

"The three-headed hound reacted too quickly for Klen’s lightning."

Everyone nodded, that lesson had nearly cost them.

John pointed toward Michael. "You’ll be the bait." Michael simply grinned. "As always."

"You’ll activate Magnetic Roar and force the tiger’s attention onto you."

John then turned to look at Klen. "Don’t aim where the beast is at, it’s speed is immense so aim where it will be."

Klen nodded. "I understand. The instant Michael forces its movement, I’ll cast Lightning Judgment ahead of its trajectory."

"Good." John continued. "If the lightning lands, all of us attack together. No holding back or conserving stamina. We finish it before it off before recovers and if it does recover before we kill it, Michael will force its agro again and we take it down slowly using the Patient Grind Formation."

Everyone nodded their head and felt it was an acceptable plan.

John then turned toward Andrew. "You stay behind us. This fight is beyond your level."

Andrew shook his head. "I’ll participate."

John frowned. "This isn’t a normal monster. It’s an elite beast."

Andrew smiled calmly. "I have a trump card. If things go wrong, I can escape."

The team exchanged surprised looks. For someone only at Level 7 to confidently claim he could escape from a Level Thirty-One elite beast, either he was unbelievably stupid or he possessed a priceless life-saving treasure.

John finally nodded. "Fine. But you stay behind us."

Andrew nodded. "I will."

John turned to Lucy. "Lucy, cover us."

Lucy slowly stepped forward. She raised one hand. A faint gray mist spread from her palm, wrapping around all six of them. The surrounding air seemed to swallow their presence. Even their footsteps became almost completely silent.

Andrew looked around in surprise. A stealth skill that could shield its allies too.

For a brief moment, another thought flashed through his mind.

If only I had my Mythic Mask.

The equipment his avatar possessed still remained somewhere inside Heaven’s Domain. A strange possibility suddenly surfaced in his thoughts.

’If this dimensional zone connects to Heaven’s Domain, could I eventually meet my avatar, retrieve my avatar’s equipment and bring it back to reality?’

His heartbeat quickened. That would change everything. But now wasn’t the time. He cast the thought aside.

The group slowly advanced. Sixty meters. Fifty-five. Fifty.

Finally, John raised a clenched fist. Everyone stopped.

Michael inhaled deeply, leaned forward and then, the ground beneath his feet cracked and then exploded.

"Bang!"

The gigantic Guardian rushed forward like an armored tank tearing through the air with the force of a battering ram and the speed of a bullet.

Each footstep cracked the earth beneath as he shot forward crazily.

The elite saber-toothed tiger instantly lifted its head. Its crimson eyes locked onto the charging giant.

Without hesitation, it growled in anger leaped directly in front of its cubs, protecting them as it roared.

"Rooooar!"

Michael grinned. "Magnetic Roar!"

A violent shockwave burst from his mouth.

The surrounding leaves exploded outward. The tiger’s eyes instantly turned blood-red, its body trembled and it turned towards Michael with inconceivable rage. It was affected.

It took a step forward to rush at Michael but then, it violently shook its head. The crimson glow vanished. Instead of charging at Michael, it remained rooted as it protected its cubs.

Everyone’s expressions changed. "It resisted!" John’s heart sank.

An elite beast’s willpower had broken free from Magnetic Roar. Their original plan had failed before it even began.

Fortunately, they had prepared a second plan.

Michael immediately drew the pistol strapped to his waist. He didn’t aim at the tiger. He aimed straight at the cubs.

"Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!"

The elite saber-toothed tiger’s pupils contracted.

Instantly, its body vanished. No, it became a blur.

"Ding!" "Ding!" "Ding!"

Its massive claws intercepted every incoming bullet with unbelievable precision.

Each projectile was slapped aside before reaching the cubs. The beast refused to leave its position.

It chose to protect its offspring instead.

John’s eyes flashed. "Now!"

Above the battlefield, a gigantic purple magic circle bloomed into existence. Klen extended both hands. "Lightning Judgment!"

A pillar of violet lightning descended from the heavens.

The elite tiger had no room to dodge. If it did, the lightning and the bullet will attack its cubs. So it could only protect its cubs by letting the lightning strick its body directly. Electricity erupted across its muscles and its movements froze instantly.

"Attack!" John roared.

The five Ultras exploded forward simultaneously.

Michael smashed his shield into its ribs.

Lucy slashed toward its neck.

Jasmine’s enormous axe carved into its shoulder. John’s blade blurred into countless afterimages.

Andrew gripped his sword tightly as he rushed in alongside them.

For one glorious second, the elite beast was completely immobilized. And the entire Devil Rage Team unleashed everything they had.

But something was wrong. The saber-toothed tiger’s eyes suddenly moved.

John’s face hardened.

The tiger’s body trembled. Instead of remaining paralyzed for a full second, the lightning only held it for half a second. Its resistance was far greater than they had predicted.

John’s expression changed instantly.

"Michael, attract and block! Everyone else, fall back!" He wanted Michael to activate Magnetic Roar while the others withdrew into formation.

But it was already too late!
