Chapter 96 | Iron-Hide Monkey Attack
Chapter 96: 96 | Iron-Hide Monkey Attack
John’s eyes flashed. "Everyone, formation!"
Before the others could close the distance, Klen stepped forward, his glasses gleamed faintly as both hands stretched outward.
Several magical circles instantly materialized around him, rotating rapidly in midair. His expression became cold.
"Chain Lightning."
The sky above suddenly crackled violently as a bolt of lightning descended like divine punishment.
"Crackle~"
The bolt of lightning moved in a flash and the suddenly it split into multiple arcs.
Three of the twelve monkeys were struck instantly as electric current and volt surged violently through their massive bodies. Their muscles convulsed and their limbs stiffened and they were temporarily paralyzed.
John shouted immediately. "Lucy! Jasmine!"
The two women were moving before their names were spoken.
Lucy was the fasted as her muscular body exploded forward. Her sword cut through the air with terrifying speed, passing through like the wind.
"Whoosh!"
Instantly, the head of the first monkey flew into the air.
Beside her, Jasmine laughed excitedly.
"Finally!" Her massive battle axe swung in a brutal arc.
The second monkey’s chest caved inward instantly as the third beast attempted to recover, but Jasmine spun her axe around and brought it down vertically.
"Bang!"
Blood sprayed across the ground like a ruptured water balloon.Three monsters dead in a split second.
But there was no time to celebrate as at that same moment, three more monkeys rushed directly toward John. Their fists tore through the air like cannonballs.
John narrowed his eyes and Instead of retreating, he smiled. "Come."
"Bang!"
The ground cracked as he shot forward like a missile. His sword danced through the air. One slash. Two slashes. Three slashes.
Metallic sparks exploded as his blade collided with their iron-hard skin. Behind him, more monkeys attacked and the battlefield descended into chaos.
Michael immediately stepped forward. His massive gauntlet slammed against the ground.
Three monkeys leaped directly toward Andrew.
Michael roared. "Stay behind me!" He swung the gigantic fists sideways. The first beast was sent flying violently. The second monkey had its jaw shattered instantly. The third was thrown backward into a tree.
Andrew watched silently. Their teamwork was very efficient.
But then from his Omniscient Perception he saw another monkey coming feom behind him. It had circled around from behind and efore Michael could react, the beast suddenly lunged. Its massive claw aimed directly for Andrew’s chest. The others noticed. Lucy shouted. "Andrew!"
But Andrew didn’t panic. His eyes remained calm.
The monkey’s claw slapped at his chest, his body dissolved into mist. The claw passed straight through empty air.
The monkey’s eyes widened. Before it could react, Andrew reappeared behind it, silent as a ghost.
His Black Iron Sword lit up with blue flames as it flashed once. A clean blue arc cut through the air.
"Whoosh!"
For one second, nothing happened as the monkey landed on the ground and then froze where it stood.
Then on cue, the monkey’s head slowly slid from its neck. Its massive body collapsed onto the ground. A level 15 Iron Hide Monkey known for its brutality and iron hide was dead just like that.
Silence.
Even in the middle of battle, John and the others noticed it and their pupils contracted.
What was that?
But there was no time to think. The remaining beasts continued attacking. The team immediately resumed fighting.
Another monkey rushed toward Jasmine. She jumped over it and buried her axe into its spine. Michael crushed another one with his gauntlet. Klen fired concentrated fire bolts.
Lucy moved like a phantom between enemies. John finished the last two with brutal sword strikes.
A few moments later, the battlefield finally became silent. Twelve giant monkey corpses lay scattered everywhere. Heavy breathing filled the air. Everyone stood still.
Then, almost immediately,
John turned toward Andrew with a serious expression on his face. "Andrew."
He ignored the strange mist ability Andrew had just displayed. Instead, he asked the most important question. "Are we still in danger?"
Everyone instinctively gathered around Andrew. Andrew expanded his perception instantly. He scanned the surrounding forest.
Then his expression changed slightly.
One kilometer ahead, there was a massive concentration of life signatures. He focused harder. What he saw made his heart skip. Over a hundred Iron-Armed Monkeys were gathered together.
At the center, a gigantic beast stood towering over the others. Nearly eight meters tall.
Muscles bulging like forged steel and its arms were absurdly massive.
It’s presence was far stronger than everything they had encountered. The Iron-Armed Monkey King.
Andrew immediately understood. If that thing arrived, they were dead.
But before he could say anything, John suddenly spoke. His instincts as an experienced hunter had already kicked in. His face turned grim. "We leave immediately."
Everyone looked at him. John stared at the dead monkey corpses. "This group was probably a patrol unit." He tightened his sword grip. "There’s likely a larger pack nearby."
Michael immediately understood. Lucy nodded. Jasmine’s playful expression disappeared.
John continued. "Collevt what we can in 20 seconds and let’s leave before a larger troop arrives... and we die."
Nobody argued with his logic. The team immediately began retreating. They moved quickly through the forest. John led from the front.
But after only a few minutes, Andrew suddenly stopped. His perception scanned ahead. Another danger zone. A group of beasts moving toward them. Andrew immediately spoke. "No."
Everyone halted instantly. John looked back. "What is it?"
Andrew pointed left. "There are monsters ahead."
John didn’t question him. "Change direction."
They moved left. After another few minutes, Andrew stopped again. "Not there."
Michael frowned. "Another one?"
Andrew nodded. "Three level 27 Beasts."
They changed direction again.
Minutes later, Andrew stopped once more. "Right side. There’s a nest over there."
John exhaled slowly. At this point, nobody questioned Andrew anymore. The team simply followed his directions.
For nearly forty minutes, Andrew guided them through the forest. Avoiding dangerous zones. He was like a living reader of monster hunter to them.
Finally, they arrived before a large cave hidden behind thick vines and stone formations.
Andrew scanned carefully. There was no lifeforms inside, no nearby beasts also. They were safe for now.
