Chapter 21: A Deal [Bonus Chapter]

"Let’s find somewhere quiet first."

After eating their meal, the three set out on a journey. The old man was hesitant at first, but after thinking that he wouldn’t lose anything by following, he just decided to go with them.

Caelan and Eveline walked back to the middle of the village. They bought a few vegetables and crops at the nearby market. However, instead of picking the good one, they chose something that looked like they were about to rot already.

"Are you sure about this?" Alden couldn’t help but feel confused as he watched them choose the vegetables.

"What?" Caelan glanced back.

"Those." Alden pointed at the crops they had just bought. "Didn’t you say you could produce the best-quality crops? Why are you buying vegetables that are already about to rot from random shops ?"

Caelan looked down at the vegetables in his hands that were wrapped in paper. Everything had something bad in them. He chuckled at it. He could understand why Alden was confused.

"Just trust us for a little longer." That was the only thing he could mutter for a while.

"Trust you?" Alden frowned.

"Yes."

"But..." Alden looked at Eveline. She was standing beside Caelan, quietly holding the fruits they had bought.

"This doesn’t exactly look like the best-quality produce I’ve ever seen..."

"You’re right." Only a small smile appeared on his lips. "But that’s the point."

"What?" Alden stared dumbfounded at him.

"Come on. We’ll show you." Caelan simply smiled before walking once again.

Alden let out a deep sigh at that. He didn’t know what was going on in these people’s minds. He simply shook his head. But if they really had something that could produce crops better than anything he had ever seen, then he wanted to find out...

Even if they were starting with rotten vegetables.

After walking for a while, the three eventually left the busier part of the village. Caelan continued walking until they reached a small, secluded area behind an old storage building. There were no shops nearby, and the road was mostly empty.

"This should be good." He looked around before stopping.

Alden also stopped a few steps behind them. He looked around the area before looking back at Caelan and Eveline.

"Where exactly are we?"

"Somewhere nobody will bother us."

Alden’s expression became slightly nervous at that.

"We’re not planning to do anything to you, Sir Alden," Eveline spoke first after noticing the man’s expression. She smiled sweetly as she gently touched the fruits in her hand. "We really mean well."

"Fine. I’m already here anyway." Alden sighed once again. He held onto his cane as he gave them one brief nod.

"Show me what you got."

"Let’s get started." Caelan smiled before placing the vegetables on the ground one by one. They laid everything, lining them up one by one.

"What exactly are you going to do?" Alden’s eyes immediately went toward the crops.

"Eveline will show you," Caelan stepped aside before giving the floor to Eveline.

Eveline quietly walked toward the vegetables. For a moment, she simply stared at them. She slowly knelt to the ground, gently letting her palms touch the impurities of the crops laid before her.

Then she picked up one of the carrots. It was the worst-looking one they had bought. The skin was soft, with several dark spots covering its surface. In the middle, there was already a small part that had started to rot.

Eveline held it carefully in both hands. Then she closed her eyes as Caelan watched silently. He already knew what was about to happen.

Eveline took a small breath before opening her mouth.

"Let what has withered bloom once more." Just as she said those words, the carrot in her hand began to glimmer with light.

"W-What...?" Alden’s eyes widened.

The light slowly spread across the carrot. The dark spots began to disappear one by one, turning its soft, damaged skin firm again. The small rotten spots also slowly faded away.

"No way," Alden stepped forward without realizing it. The carrot continued to change right before his eyes. Its color became brighter, its surface became smoother, and even its size seemed to increase slightly.

Within a few seconds, the rotten carrot he had seen earlier completely transformed into a fresh and healthy crop. In fact, it was not just healthy. It was one of the best carrots he had seen so far!

"That was..." Alden stared at it in disbelief. He couldn’t even finish his sentence.

Eveline slowly opened her eyes after it. She looked down at the carrot in her hands before giving a small smile.

"It worked."

"You... you just restored it?" Alden looked at her now. He had recored from his earlier shock.

"Yes." Eveline nodded.

"But it was already rotting!"

"I know."

"How?"

Eveline didn’t answer it. Instead, she slowly stood up. Caelan only watched her with a small smile.

Eveline raised one of her hands. In it, a faint light began gathering around her palm. Alden’s eyes immediately followed the light.

"What are you..." Before Alden could say his question, Eveline gently moved her hand over the crops.

The moment she did, the light spread outward, and the vegetables and fruits began to glow one after another. Alden completely froze to it.

All the crops on the ground started changing. They went through the same process just like the carrots. Even the fruits that were already decaying slowly returned to their fresh state.

Everything happened all at the same time.

"What..." Alden’s mouth slowly fell open. He took a step forward, his eyes widening even more.

"T-this..." Alden couldn’t believe what he was seeing. He quickly crouched down and picked up one of them. He couldn’t believe that it happened just like that.

Alden gently pressed his finger against it to see if it was really true. And when he did, he felt the thing firm in his hands.

"This is impossible!" Alden’s hands began to tremble slightly.

"Looks like we weren’t lying." Caelan chuckled.

Alden didn’t even hear him. His attention was completely focused on the crops. He picked up one after another. He was scrambling as he did so. Everything he touched was just in perfect condition.

The vegetables were larger, their colors were more vibrant, and their quality was clearly far beyond the ordinary produce he had seen in the market.

"Just what kind of ability do you have?" Alden slowly turned toward Eveline.

"I can make crops grow." Eveline lowered her hand. "And I can restore them too."

Alden swallowed as if there was a big lump in his throat.

"If you can produce crops like these..." He looked down at the tomato in his hand.

"Then we might have a business."
