Chapter 316: Patience Wearing Thin(PS Bonus Chapter)

Meanwhile, at the same time, on the highest floor of the Spectre Guild’s headquarters, an entirely different conversation was taking place.

Unlike the lower sections of the building, which were constantly bustling with Hunters, engineers, and other employees, the top floor was exceptionally quiet.

It was a restricted area reserved exclusively for the two mysterious individuals who stood at the very top of the Spectre Guild.

The Guild Master and the Vice Guild Master.

Despite the Spectre Guild’s considerable reputation, very few people had ever seen either of them in person.

Most of the Guild’s affairs were handled by their subordinates, and even important decisions were usually communicated through designated representatives.

As a result, the identities of the two leaders had become something of a mystery to the outside world.

However, at this moment, both were present within a spacious office on the highest floor.

The office was elegantly furnished, with expensive decorations, comfortable seating arrangements, and a large wooden desk positioned near the center of the room.

Behind the desk was an enormous window stretching almost from the floor to the ceiling.

Through it, one could see a breathtaking view of the Second District, with countless buildings extending into the distance and vehicles moving along the streets far below.

Yet neither of the two people inside seemed particularly interested in the scenery.

They were both women.

And at first glance, they looked almost completely identical.

Both possessed long, beautiful red hair, striking facial features, and nearly identical body proportions. Even the shape of their eyes and the delicate contours of their faces were so similar that an ordinary person might have mistaken them for the same individual.

However, upon closer inspection, the differences between them became immediately apparent.

The first woman sat behind the large office desk.

She wore a neatly tailored business suit that complemented her elegant appearance. Her posture was straight, her expression composed, and every movement she made carried an air of maturity and professionalism.

There was something naturally authoritative about her.

Even without knowing her identity, one could easily imagine her managing an organization as influential as the Spectre Guild.

This woman was Nora.

The Guild Master of the Spectre Guild.

The second woman, however, was an entirely different story.

Although she shared almost exactly the same appearance as Nora, her demeanor was considerably more youthful.

Her clothes were casual and fashionable, completely unlike the formal attire worn by her sister.

She sat opposite the desk in a relaxed position, her expression filled with obvious impatience.

Her name was Zora.

And judging from the irritated look on her face, she was far from happy about something.

For a while, the office remained silent.

Nora was reviewing several documents displayed on a transparent screen above her desk, while Zora sat opposite her, occasionally tapping her fingers against the armrest of her chair.

Eventually, Zora seemed to reach the limit of her patience.

"Sis."

Nora didn’t immediately look up. "Hm?"

"Are we seriously going to keep staying in this insignificant world?"

Nora’s fingers paused briefly above the screen.

Zora continued before her sister could respond.

"I mean, how long has it been already? Years! We’ve been here for years, and we still haven’t found the person we’re supposed to be looking for."

She threw her hands into the air.

"How much longer are we supposed to keep wasting our time?"

Nora finally raised her head.

Her expression remained calm.

"Zora, we’ve discussed this before."

"And I’m tired of discussing it!"

Zora immediately interrupted.

"Every time I bring it up, you give me the same answer."

She leaned forward.

"We’ll keep searching. We have to be patient. We need to follow the plan."

Her voice took on a mocking tone as she repeated the familiar excuses.

Then she frowned.

"But what if we never find this person? Are we just supposed to spend the rest of our lives sitting around in this world?"

Nora sighed softly.

"We’ll remain here for as long as necessary."

Zora stared at her.

"Seriously?"

"Yes."

Nora met her gaze.

"Finding that person is the mission Mother entrusted to us. Until we’ve exhausted every possibility, we can’t simply abandon it."

Hearing that, Zora’s expression darkened.

"Mother’s mission again..."

She leaned back in her chair, visibly frustrated.

"Sis, must we really follow everything she told us?"

Nora frowned slightly.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean exactly what I said!"

Zora sat upright again.

"Why do we need to find some mysterious person we’ve never even met? Why are we placing all our hopes on someone who might not even exist?"

She gestured toward the window.

"Look at where we are! We’ve spent years hiding in this world, wasting our time searching for someone we know almost nothing about."

Her voice grew increasingly agitated.

"And for what?"

Nora remained silent.

Zora continued.

"Why can’t we just deal with our enemies ourselves?"

She clenched her fists.

"We’re not weak, Sis. You know that."

Her eyes flashed.

"If we’d spent all these years traveling through other worlds and gathering materials instead of staying here, we could’ve improved ourselves considerably by now."

She gestured toward her own body.

"With enough resources, we could upgrade our bodies, develop stronger systems, and improve our combat capabilities."

Her voice became more forceful.

"Instead of relying on some stranger, we could become strong enough to take care of everything ourselves!"

As she spoke, something unusual happened, the surface of Zora’s skin suddenly rippled, and for a brief moment, it separated into countless microscopic particles. They shifted against one another, producing a faint metallic shimmer, before settling back into their original form.

Had an ordinary person witnessed the scene, they would have undoubtedly been shocked. What they’d just seen wasn’t something a normal human body should have been capable of.

The phenomenon bore a striking resemblance to the transformation process of the Spectre X Nano Armor. Except, in Zora’s case, it wasn’t armor that had transformed.

It was her own body.

Nora, however, didn’t seem surprised in the slightest. She merely glanced at her sister’s arm before returning her attention to Zora’s face.

"Calm down."

"How am I supposed to calm down?"

"Zora."

Nora’s voice became firmer.

"Mother already calculated everything before entrusting us with this mission."

Zora’s expression tightened.

"Not this again..."

"She knew what we were facing," Nora continued. "And she knew that attempting to confront our enemies with our current strength would only lead to disaster."

She paused.

"That’s precisely why she instructed us to find that person."

Zora shook her head.

"But we could become stronger!"

"Not quickly enough."

Nora’s response was immediate.

"Even if we spent the next several years gathering materials and steadily upgrading ourselves, there’s still no guarantee we’d ever become powerful enough to accomplish what you’re suggesting."

She leaned forward slightly, her gaze unwavering.

"And deep down, you already know that."

Zora opened her mouth, but no words came out, nothing she could say to argue against it.

Nora continued, her tone calm but firm. "Mother didn’t make that decision carelessly. She weighed every possibility before choosing the path she genuinely believed gave us the greatest chance of success."

Her expression softened slightly.

"Going against that plan now, simply because we’ve grown impatient, would be reckless."
