Chapter 293: Things Falling Into Place(GT Bonus Chapter.)
The response was immediate.
His surroundings began to fade, and his consciousness sank into darkness as the Dreamwalking process came to an end.
A moment later, Kael’s eyes opened in the physical world.
He remained still for a brief moment, allowing his consciousness to settle fully into his body. Having experienced Dreamwalking before, he had grown more accustomed to the process. The time he needed to recover after returning was noticeably shorter than it had been during his previous attempt.
When his vision finally cleared, he noticed Varek standing beside Ezra’s bed.
The man had one hand resting gently on her head, his eyes closed as he examined her condition. Judging by his concentration, he was likely observing the changes taking place within her Mind World.
Kael didn’t interrupt him.
A short while later, Varek opened his eyes and withdrew his hand.
"It’s working wonders, Master."
There was a hint of satisfaction in his voice as he turned toward Kael.
"The Mindbloom Lotus Seed is already repairing the damage to her Mind World. At the rate things are progressing, I believe the young miss will awaken within the next twenty-four hours."
Kael’s expression relaxed.
"That’s good."
He let out a long sigh, feeling as though another weight had finally been lifted from his shoulders.
First, his mother had awakened after years of unconsciousness. Now Ezra’s condition was steadily improving, and she would likely regain consciousness herself before long as well. Life, for once, felt genuinely good.
Just then, the door creaked open.
Kael turned toward the entrance and saw Lyra stepping into the room, her face bright with a kind of joy he hadn’t seen from her in a very long time.
She glanced at Ezra on the bed before quickly looking at Kael.
"Is she going to be okay now?"
Kael nodded.
"Varek just checked her condition. The Mindbloom Lotus Seed is working well, and the damage to her Mind World is healing much faster now. According to him, she should wake up within the next twenty-four hours."
Lyra’s eyes widened before her face broke into an enormous smile.
"Really? That’s wonderful!"
She looked at Ezra again, relief washing over her features. Knowing that her friend was finally recovering after everything that had happened brought her a sense of happiness she could hardly put into words.
Then she turned back toward Kael.
"Thank you."
Kael waved his hand dismissively.
"There’s no need to thank me."
He paused as another thought crossed his mind.
"Oh, I almost forgot. I also managed to get my hands on some items that can help you awaken your power. We’ll have Varek start preparing for that soon."
Lyra stared at him.
Then her expression brightened even further.
"Really?!"
Kael nodded.
"Of course. Why would I lie about something like that?"
Lyra could barely contain her excitement.
Although their mother’s recovery and Ezra’s improving condition had lifted a tremendous burden from her shoulders, they hadn’t diminished her desire to grow stronger. If anything, that desire had only grown more intense.
Lyra understood that much of their current happiness was possible only because Kael had the strength and ability to make it happen.
But what if he hadn’t been strong enough?
What if he hadn’t been there?
The thought alone made her uncomfortable.
She didn’t want to remain someone who could only wait for Kael to solve everything. She wanted to stand beside him, to become strong enough to help when he needed it, and to protect the people she cared about with her own hands.
She had no intention of letting this opportunity go to waste.
Meanwhile, Kael, unaware of the thoughts running through his sister’s mind, suddenly remembered something else.
"By the way, where’s Mom?"
Lyra turned toward the door.
"Oh, she’s here with me."
She stepped aside, revealing the woman standing behind her.
Kael’s eyes widened slightly.
"Mom? What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be resting?"
She gave him a bright smile.
"I’ve been sleeping for the longest time. I think I need to stretch my legs a little." She glanced toward Ezra before continuing, "Besides, Lyra told me what happened to her, so I wanted to come and check on her."
Kael looked at his mother for a moment before nodding.
"Oh, I see. Thankfully, she’s doing a lot better now."
"I can see that."
Her gaze moved to Ezra, and her expression softened. After spending so many years unconscious herself, she understood better than most how painful it could be for the people waiting for someone to wake up. She was glad that Ezra’s condition was finally improving.
A moment later, she turned toward Varek.
A warm smile spread across her face as she looked at the man standing beside the bed.
"You must be Varek. Lyra told me you’ve been very helpful. Thank you for staying beside my son and helping him all this time."
Varek appeared slightly taken aback by the sudden gratitude, but he quickly recovered. A small smile formed on his face as he inclined his head toward her.
"You’re welcome, miss..."
"Hannah," she supplied with a friendly smile.
Varek nodded.
"Ah, Hannah. It’s my honor to serve Master."
His answer was simple, but his tone carried no hesitation.
Hannah looked at him for another moment before smiling warmly.
"Regardless, I’m thankful for everything you’ve done."
Varek inclined his head slightly, accepting her gratitude without saying anything further.
Kael, who had been watching their exchange from the side, suddenly cleared his throat.
"Alright, it’s time to get going. I have something to discuss with Varek."
He turned toward the door and walked out of the room, with Varek following closely behind. Once they were both outside, Kael closed the door and turned to look at his subordinate.
"I’ve never seen you talk and smile like you did just now."
Varek’s expression remained composed, but he cleared his throat.
"I’m sure Master is imagining things."
Kael narrowed his eyes at him.
"Is that so?"
"Of course, Master."
Varek scratched the back of his head, seemingly deciding that changing the subject would be the wisest course of action.
"Regarding Miss Lyra’s awakening, you mentioned that you had obtained all the necessary items. Would you mind showing them to me?"
