SSS-Awakening: I Have Infinite Talents
Chapter 61: The Corporate Cyborg
"The secret to modern warfare is simple. The side with the better toys usually wins." — Norman Schwarzkopf.

Micah reached over his shoulder and drew the Widow’s Wail. The katana slid from its scabbard with a low, steady hum that made the nearest competitors turn their heads.
The micro-vibration edge was active, singing at forty thousand cycles per second, and the pitch-black steel seemed to absorb the light from the holographic bracket above.
He rolled his shoulders, loosening the muscles in his arms and back.
His body was fully recovered from the Alpha fight.
The Regenerative Tissue talent had handled the shoulder wound, and the Phantom Carapace had been repaired. Every piece of equipment he owned was in peak condition.
He was ready.
Tasha watched him prepare. She reached out and grabbed his hand.
It was sudden and unexpected. Her fingers closed around his with a firm, deliberate grip. Her grey eyes met his, and they carried an intensity that was complicated and layered.
There was faith in them, and trust, and something else that she still wasn’t ready to name.
"Come back," she said.
Micah looked at her for a moment. Then he gave a small nod, pulled his hand free, and walked toward the tunnel that led to Ring 7.
The Widow’s Wail hummed at his side, and the Cloak of Dela billowed behind him as he disappeared into the corridor.

Micah climbed the metal stairs to Ring 7.
The stairs were industrial, bolted to the side of the arena platform like an afterthought.
Each step echoed through the tunnel behind him, and the sound mixed with the roar of the crowd above.
The Coliseum was packed. Over a hundred thousand spectators filled the seats that ringed the massive arena floor, and their combined voices filled the arena with overwhelming noise.
The floodlights hit him the moment he stepped onto the platform.
They were blindingly bright, mounted on steel frames above the arena walls, and they turned the reinforced concrete floor into a glare so intense that he had to squint for a moment before his eyes adjusted.
The Phantom Carapace was hidden beneath his civilian clothes, and the Cloak of Dela was draped over his shoulders.
To the crowd and the cameras, he looked like an ordinary soldier walking into an elite arena wearing street clothes and a hood.
The commentators were already talking, their amplified voices echoing through the stadium speakers.
"That’s Micah Selman, the Outpost 7 border recruit. No prior elite tournament record. No corporate sponsorship. This is his first appearance at the Capital Coliseum."
"His first and probably last, if you ask me. Vargas has forty-seven tournament wins. This kid has one Alpha kill on his record."
The crowd murmured. A few people laughed.
Standing in the center of the ring was Vargas.
He was huge. He stood nearly two meters tall, with broad shoulders, thick arms, and muscles that showed years of hard training.
His entire left side had been completely replaced with military-grade cybernetics. The arm was a hydraulic masterpiece of silver-plated steel and reinforced titanium, with visible servos and pistons that flexed with every movement.
The shoulder was a mechanical housing that contained the integrated plasma cannon, its barrel visible as a dark circle in the center of the forearm plating.
His left leg was also cybernetic, a steel limb that was planted on the concrete like a pillar. His left eye was a mechanical replacement, a glowing red lens that whirred and clicked as it tracked Micah’s movement across the arena.
A thin web of metal cables ran from the eye socket into his skull, connecting the optical targeting system directly to his brain.
His right side was still organic, but barely. His right arm was thick with muscle and covered in Flux-infused tattoos that glowed with concentrated energy.
His right leg was human, but wrapped in reinforced plating from the knee down. The line where flesh met metal ran straight down the center of his body, dividing him into two halves with surgical precision.
Vargas looked at Micah. His mechanical eye whirred with a loud, audible click as it zoomed in on Micah’s face.
He raised his cybernetic left arm and cracked the hydraulic knuckles. The sound was like someone stepping on metal cans.
"The Clara Group paid me a lot of money to be here," Vargas said. His voice was deep, and it carried across the ring without effort.
"They paid me a bonus for every bone I break. Not defeat. Break. They want bones, and they want them shattered."
He tapped the plasma cannon housing on his forearm with his organic right hand.
The metal rang from the impact.
"This cannon fires concentrated plasma rounds at three thousand degrees. It melts through military-grade armor plating in under a second. Your little cloak and your civilian clothes aren’t going to do anything except give the medics something to scrape off the floor."
He smiled.
Micah stood at the opposite end of the ring. He hadn’t spoken a single word since stepping onto the platform.
He drew the Widow’s Wail. The katana slid from its scabbard with a low hum, and the micro-vibration edge activated at forty thousand cycles per second.
He dropped into a relaxed, unorthodox combat stance.
His feet were shoulder-width apart, his weight balanced evenly between them. He held the katana low at his right side, the blade pointing slightly forward.
Before the referee even raised the starting flag, Micah activated Beast Analysis.
The talent fired at full capacity, and his golden vision instantly penetrated the thick, reinforced armor plating of Vargas’s cybernetic body.
The system mapped every component, every circuit, every hydraulic line and power conduit in the mechanical left side. It traced the flow of energy from the plasma cannon’s charging array to the primary power core buried deep within Vargas’s chest cavity.
The core was the key.
Beast Analysis isolated it immediately. It was a heavily shielded Flux reactor sitting behind a wall of reinforced titanium plating in the center of Vargas’s chest.
The reactor powered every cybernetic system in his body, from the hydraulic limbs to the plasma cannon to the optical targeting system. It was the heart of the machine.
