SSS Awakening: I Can Class Change at will

Chapter 267 Face Slapped

Chapter 267  Face Slapped

He pointed an accusatory finger at Yara, who stood calmly looking at him as if he were the world’s most pitiful creature.

Selene cursed internally, immediately standing up to position herself protectively near Yara as several awakeners and a few Evolvers in the crowd began responding to the commotion, moving closer to assess the situation.

Selene knew that it was going to be tough to get out of the situation at hand. Had she been the one to hit him, Selene wouldn’t have cared, but it was Yara, and Yara was considered a beast. Once a beast attacked a human, it was considered to have gone berserk and sentenced to death unless the owner can prove that the beast had actually defended it from an immediate threat.

Although Yara had defended her, Yara did not defend her against an immediate threat.

“I will give fifty thousand dollars to whoever kills that blue demon!” the young man shouted desperately, trying to rally support from the gathering crowd. “It attacked me unprovoked! I’m the son of the Sand Group! My father is a powerful Evolver estimated to reach Surpasser rank within a few years! Kill this beast and I will guarantee you a good life!”

The crowd murmured with growing interest, some clearly tempted by the offer.

The Sand Group was a well-known organization within Zone C, rapidly expanding their power base by affiliating themselves with more established and powerful factions. Their growing influence made crossing them a risky proposition for most awakeners.

Slowly, more awakeners and even several Evolvers began positioning themselves to corner Selene and Yara, following pack mentality as the promise of easy money and political backing was too good to let go.

Most of these Awakeners and Evolvers were stuck, unable to advance, and being able to gain the backing of such a group might provide them with a breakthrough.

Before anyone could make an aggressive move, a powerful voice suddenly sounded—

“I dare any of you to move even a single inch toward them.” The voice was freezing cold.

Before anyone could turn around towards the source of the voice, an aura suddenly exploded outward.

The sudden pressure descended upon them, overwhelming. The crushing wave of power slammed into everyone who had been surrounding Selene and Yara like a hurricane.

Bodies went flying in every direction, awakeners crashed into storefronts, Evolvers were hurled into parked vehicles, bystanders tumbled across the pavement like leaves in a hurricane. The sheer difference in power was so vast that resistance was impossible.

Alaric walked calmly through the aftermath, beside him, Emma strolled with a cheerful smile, her hands clasped gently behind her back as if they were taking a pleasant evening walk through the city.

“Brother…” Selene sighed in relief. With so many awakeners and multiple Evolvers entering the confrontation, it would have been extremely difficult to handle the situation safely. But Alaric’s arrival changed everything instantly.

Alaric approached the young man who was struggling to get back to his feet after being thrown by the aura blast. He grabbed the boy by his throat and lifted him off the ground.

The boy’s face began to turn blue, but before he could pass out—

CRACK!

Alaric’s open palm struck the young man’s face with enough force that his entire set of teeth scattered across the pavement like spilled coins, blood spraying from his ruined mouth.

“What’s wrong? Are you going to threaten to kill me too?” Alaric’s cold eyes bore into his very soul, making him forget the pain of losing an entire set of teeth.

Before the boy could attempt a response through his destroyed mouth, Alaric seized his head and drove it downward into the pavement.

The street cracked, creating a small crater where the impact occurred. The young man’s body went limp immediately, unconscious from the merciless blow.

Everyone in the remaining crowd gasped audibly, staring at the bloodied, motionless figure with horror and fascination.

“What group did you say? Sand Group? Never heard of such an organization. Have you heard of them, Emma?”

“Hehe, not at all~” Emma giggled sweetly, shaking her head innocently. “Sounds completely insignificant to me!”

Alaric shook the unconscious boy roughly until consciousness returned, his eyes fluttering open in pain and confusion.

“I don’t like your voice, I think you should leave that behind.”

Alaric dove his hands into the boy’s destroyed mouth and yanked his tongue out.

Then he casually tossed the severed appendage toward a dog that belonged to an onlooker.

The dog immediately lunged for the unexpected meal, tearing at it hungrily while the boy watched in absolute horror, tears streaming down his bloodied face as he tried to scream through his ruined mouth.

“Leave, I don’t want to see your face again. If I do, I’ll make sure you leave that behind as well.”

The mutilated young man scrambled away as quickly as his injuries allowed, bleeding profusely, stumbling and falling repeatedly as he fled. None of the bystanders offered assistance, too terrified of drawing Alaric’s attention to themselves.

“Why are you all still here?” Alaric turned toward the remaining crowd, “Scram!”

The street cleared instantly, people scattering in every direction afraid that they would be the next target of Alaric.

Alaric walked over to meet Selene halfway, and the two siblings shared a brief but warm hug that lasted a second before separating.

“That was completely deserved, he harassed us first, called Yara a demon, and tried to have her killed for money. At least now he’ll need to spend several million dollars just to regain the ability to speak properly.”

“Can’t he just regenerate by dying? Like you did that time in the forest?” Yara asked curiously.

Selene shook her head. “Losing a body part on Earth is completely different than in the Sanctuaries. He can’t just regenerate it by spending some lives in a weak zone like awakeners can do in other realms. He’ll carry those consequences permanently unless he pays for expensive healers.”

“Wait…you died in a forest? Who dared to kill you?!”

“Nobody, brother! It was just a dangerous beast, but we managed to kill it afterward.”

Alaric’s piercing gaze remained fixed on her for several more seconds, but the threatening aura gradually retracted as he processed that the cause has gotten its punishment
