SS Awakening: My Monster Merging System!

Chapter 306: You Can’t Kill In This Floor [2]

Seeing the advancing enemies, a fierce glow shone within Iron’s eyes as its bone greatsword swept wide, but never once cut toward the vital point of any guard.

The spine of the sword knocked weapons aside, the hilt knocked guards out of position, while the four Undead Skeleton Soldiers moved like four constantly shifting bone spikes. Whenever a guard lost its balance, they immediately swarmed forward and dragged it toward the wall.

Slimy’s Silk Barrier opened again and again, then withdrew again and again. It no longer tried to cover the entire corridor. It only wove an angled net wherever the pressure was greatest, pushing the guards charging head on toward both sides and squeezing out a narrow passage for them.

Zich stood at the center of his summons, the Frostgrave Scythe having appeared in his hands at some unknown point.

A heavy sword suddenly passed over Iron’s shoulder and slashed directly toward the neck bone of an Undead Skeleton Soldier on the left!

[Shadow Blink!]

The next moment, Zich had already appeared beside the heavy armored guard. The Frostgrave Scythe slid down along the heavy sword, and the curved scythe blade suddenly caught against its guard.

He exerted force with both hands and twisted his waist, causing the heavy sword to fly from its hand.

Following the motion, he raised his leg and kicked the back of the guard’s knee. The heavy body lost its balance and dropped onto one knee, and the two Undead Skeleton Soldiers on either side immediately pounced forward.

The coordination was so fast that there wasn’t the slightest gap.

But there were simply too many guards in the corridor.

The farther they moved forward, the less room there was to move. The guards thrown toward the rear did not magically disappear. Rather, they continuously broke free from the silk threads and chased after them again.

The two strengthened guards created by that first Spirit Bomb, relying on strength far beyond that of the other guards, tore through three layers of Silk Barriers in succession!

Snap!

One of the long halberds pierced through an opening in the barrier and slammed heavily against the Silverback Ape Grunt’s crossed arms!

Bang!

The Silverback Ape Grunt gave a muffled grunt. Its enormous body was forced to slide forward, its back nearly crashing into Zich.

Quickly, the other strengthened guard followed behind it, its long halberd stabbing through the gap. The blade scraped across the left arm of an Undead Skeleton Soldier and directly sliced away a section of arm bone!

For the first time, a gap appeared in their defensive line.

Ahead, six heavy black shields slammed together at the exact same moment, completely sealing off the corridor!

Boom!

Iron’s bone greatsword smashed into the shield wall, only causing the two shields at the very front to shake violently.

It didn’t break through!

The pursuers behind them were already pressing forward, but the shield wall ahead did not move at all, no matter how much the Silverback Ape Grunt and Iron smashed into it.

Once they were completely surrounded here, Zich would have only one path left: forcefully kill his way out. But the result of killing the first guard had already proven that every kill would only make the situation worse!

At that moment, the space around them grew narrower and narrower.

Iron tightened its grip around the bone greatsword. The Silverback Ape Grunt lowered its shoulder again. Slimy’s remaining silk threads also began frantically gathering toward the rear.

The four Undead Skeleton Soldiers turned at the same time. Even though one was missing a section of arm bone, it still gripped its weapon with its remaining hand and stood in front of Zich.

As long as he gave the order, they would immediately force a path through the guards.

Zich suddenly smiled. "Halt."

The summons were confused about why they were stopping but did as instructed.

Just now, an almost imperceptible connection had already returned to his consciousness from the deepest part of the corridor.

Blood Leech had arrived!

From the moment the battle began, it had not attacked even once. While all the guards’ attention had been drawn toward the others, it had already completely suppressed its presence and moved forward along the corners of the walls and through the shadows.

At this moment, it was lying directly beneath the Trial Gate!

[Spirit Exchange]

Buzz!

The strengthened guard’s long halberd had only just pierced through the final layer of Silk Barrier when Zich’s figure disappeared from the center of the encirclement.

In his place was Blood Leech’s slender body.

And at the end of the corridor, before the massive black gate, Zich stepped out of empty space!

Without looking back, he pressed his right hand against the gate!

"Open!"

Rumble!

The massive gate that had been silent for so long suddenly shook, and countless dark golden patterns rapidly lit up with Zich’s palm as their center.

At the same time, the long halberd slashing toward Blood Leech had already fallen!

However, before it could make contact...

[Twenty Fifth Floor Trial Completed.]

[Trial Evaluation: SSS.]

The cold notification flashed past.

The entire corridor suddenly froze as though someone had pressed pause.

The long halberd stopped above Blood Leech. The wind pressure brought by the blade had already pressed its body downward.

Behind the shield wall, the guards were frozen in their charging postures, but the crimson light in their eyes extinguished completely at the same instant.

The next moment, every heavy armored guard collapsed at the same time, turning into countless black motes of light that rose into the air.

With a thought from Zich, Iron, Slimy, the Silverback Ape Grunt, Blood Leech, and the four Undead Skeleton Soldiers all turned into black light at the same time and were recalled into the Graveyard.

At that moment, the massive gate fully opened, and the next portal appeared on the other side.

The first thing Zich did was gulp down a bottle of rejuvenating potion. As he did, gentle energy enveloped his entire body as the exhaustion accumulated from continuous fighting began to fade little by little.

After a short rest, he opened his eyes again and directly stepped into the portal leading to the Twenty Sixth Floor.
