SS Awakening: My Monster Merging System!
Chapter 305: You Can’t Kill In This Floor [1]
Twenty Fifth Floor.
Buzz!
Dark golden light quickly spread along both sides of the corridor, and lines of text completely solidified in midair.
[Twenty Fifth Floor Trial Rules]
[Reach the end of the corridor and open the Trial Gate.]
[For every guard killed, two stronger guards will appear.]
At the same moment the final line of text appeared, the heavy sound of pounding footsteps thundered from ahead!
The figure that had just walked out of the darkness was a full three meters tall, its entire body covered in pitch black heavy armor. Only the two crimson lights behind its visor were especially glaring.
The long halberd in its hand dragged across the ground, sending out a trail of sparks, and in the next instant, its enormous body suddenly accelerated!
Boom!
Solid stone bricks shattered beneath a single step as the long halberd swept horizontally, almost sealing off the entire corridor!
Zich’s eyes narrowed. Of the two Spirit Bombs already hovering above his palm, one instantly shot out.
By the time he saw the final rule clearly, that Spirit Bomb had already collided with the long halberd slashing toward him!
BOOM!
Black blue soul energy exploded violently inside the narrow corridor, and the raging shockwave swept shattered stone toward both sides. The heavy armored guard’s halberd was blasted from its hands, while the black armor covering its chest caved inward. Its three meter tall body did not even last a single second before dissolving into countless black motes of light at the center of the explosion.
At the spot where the guard had disappeared, two masses of black mist, even denser than before, were already rising.
Clang!
Clang!
The sound of colliding armor rang out one after another. Then two pairs of crimson eyes opened simultaneously!
The two heavy armored guards that emerged from the black mist were taller than the first, and their armor was even thicker. They had only taken a single step forward when the pressure rolling off them caused the fragments of stone still hanging in the air to tremble.
By killing one guard, Zich had caused the floor to create two stronger ones!
"Tch." Zich clicked his tongue, not knowing how to feel about this.
The two new guards gave the summoner no more time to think. They charged from the left and right simultaneously, their halberds tearing through the lingering smoke as they slashed toward his head and waist.
He shifted his footing and retreated along the left wall. Instead of throwing the second Spirit Bomb at either guard, he sent it skimming across the ground and detonated it between them!
Bang!
This time, the center of the explosion deliberately avoided both guards.
The violent shockwave swept through the corridor, lifting their heavy bodies off the ground and smashing them into the walls on either side. Stone fragments rained down, but the armor covering their chests did not completely break. They quickly braced themselves on their halberds and stood again.
Neither had died, and no new guards appeared.
’The faster I kill, the faster I’ll die!’ Zich’s eyes flashed as he studied the two enemies in the distance.
If he continued bulldozing through the floor with Spirit Bombs like he had on the previous floors, killing ten guards would produce twenty stronger ones. If he kept killing after that, the entire corridor would eventually be completely blocked by monsters that only grew stronger.
More troublesome still, pair after pair of crimson eyes was already lighting up in the darkness ahead.
There had never been only one guard in this corridor!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Heavy footsteps echoed from the distance, causing the entire floor to tremble slightly. The two guards that had been blasted away behind him had also locked onto Zich again, turning their halberds before closing in once more.
Realizing that he couldn’t fight them alone, his consciousness quickly sank into the Graveyard.
Among the once densely packed tombstones, quite a few empty spaces had already appeared. The important tombstones and the graves of his permanent summons remained perfectly protected, but after fighting all the way from the Tenth Floor to this point, the ordinary souls consumed in continuously creating Spirit Bombs were far greater than they appeared.
"Come out," he called.
Black light suddenly spread behind Zich as Slimy, Iron, the four undead, and the muscular Silverback Ape emerged. Blood Leech was the last to appear before disappearing into the shadows moments later.
"The target is the gate at the end," Zich said. "Don’t kill a single one."
Iron was the first to step forward, raising its greatsword, followed by the four undead soldiers, who had formed a small encirclement of their own.
Two stayed in the front and two behind, leaving enough distance between them to reinforce one another at any moment. Slimy also leaped from Zich’s shoulder, its translucent body rapidly extending as strands of white silk silently climbed the stone walls on both sides.
Thanks to the month of intense training, Zich only needed to tell them what to do.
As for how to do it, they could judge for themselves!
"Move!"
The moment his voice fell, Iron was the first to meet the guard ahead.
Whoosh!
The halberd came crashing down.
Instead of blocking, the undead knight suddenly turned its blade and slammed the broad spine of its bone greatsword diagonally against the halberd’s shaft!
Clang!
The halberd was knocked aside on the spot. Two Undead Skeleton Soldiers closed in simultaneously, one grabbing the guard’s weapon arm while the other wrapped its arms around its waist. Iron quickly stepped half a step forward and slammed its armored shoulder into the guard’s chest!
Bang!
The heavy armored guard was sent flying sideways and smashed violently into the wall.
Before it could even fall, the white silk that had already spread across the area suddenly tightened, briefly pinning both its arms and halberd against the wall and opening a path for Zich and his summons!
Without wasting any time, he shot past it, the entire group advancing without the slightest pause.
A second guard suddenly charged out from a hidden doorway on the right, thrusting its halberd straight toward Zich’s chest. But the Silverback Ape Grunt’s figure cut across its path first!
Intercept!
Boom!
Its thick shoulder slammed head on into the heavy armor. Several stone bricks beneath the Silverback Ape Grunt’s feet shattered one after another, yet it forcibly pushed the guard backward for several meters. Then both its arms wrapped around the guard’s waist, and with an angry roar, it lifted the entire thing and directly threw it toward the rear of the group!
"Roar!"
The guard crashed to the ground. Just as it was about to turn over, Slimy’s Silk Barrier had already appeared between it and the others.
Ahead, more sounds of heavy armor colliding were already ringing out.
Hidden doors opened one after another along the corridor. Shield bearers, sword wielders, war spear users... more and more heavy armored guards walked out of the darkness.
And the instant they discovered Zich, they all turned at the same time, their crimson gazes locking firmly onto him and his advancing summons.
Now that he was closer to the thirtieth floor, the tower was no longer going easy on him!
