While Chen Ming and the Psychic Director were bickering.

The Starship Director, who had been idle for half a day, couldn’t stand it anymore: “Are you two discussing this?”

The Psychic Director glared and said, “Yeah, Chen Ming is stealing your people too, don’t you have any thoughts?”

The Starship Director shrugged his shoulders and said, “I honestly don’t care.”

His age was quite advanced, and he could clearly feel his body was no longer as good as it used to be.

He wasn’t a Psychic, lacked strong mental powers and a correspondingly strong physique, and might retire in a few years.

Moreover, putting aside the possibility of retirement, he was currently very interested in Chen Ming’s side as well.

After all, the resources Chen Ming had were visible to the naked eye, and he also had An Wuping, his almost virtual sibling, for support in biotechnology.

Across the Empire, anyone related to the areas Chen Ming involved himself in wanted to join him to gain access to those abundant resources.

The Starship Director was no exception.

Even though they were the ones who initially started the research on Phase Technology and Phase Ships,

within just half a year, Chen Ming had already surpassed them.

Often, results that would typically require lengthy testing and research could be achieved by Chen Ming alone through his abilities.

This situation really made it hard for anyone to want to compete with him.

In terms of the uniqueness and peculiarity of Spiritual Energy, there might be room for comparison with Chen Ming, but in pure starship capabilities, there was nothing to contest with him.

The Starship Director even considered directly retiring after completing Chen Ming’s project.

He planned not to take on new projects and instead become a retired professor, occasionally giving lectures.

He did not care whether or not Chen Ming was stealing people.

He had come to terms with it.

He could see that Chen Ming was always just one person.

So, whether those “stolen” researchers stayed in the Empire or went over to Chen Ming didn’t matter, as long as the end results were beneficial for people.

The Psychic Director understood the Starship Director’s point.

Although the two didn’t always get along, their departments had been competing under their leadership for decades, so they understood each other’s thoughts quite clearly.

They could tell what nonsense the other was going to say from the start.

He didn’t leverage his position to say much, instead, he turned to Chen Ming and said, “Alright, I won’t digress further.”

“There’s already a task regarding the Plane Nightmare incident.”

“Though we haven’t encountered anything similar yet, we need to prepare preventive measures, or else, if the Empire encounters one in the future, it might cost lives.”

“Who knows when a black hole in the Empire might produce a Plane Nightmare, so I have to go busy myself with this matter.”

The Psychic Director concluded and stood up.

“Thankfully I went out with you before, or I’d have no clue what to do.”

He waved to Chen Ming and left his office.

After the Psychic Director left, the Starship Director didn’t linger either.

Even though he was already contemplating retirement, he needed to complete all his current tasks.

Aside from Chen Ming’s Project Main Ship, he had many other things to attend to.

After the two left.

Chen Ming also didn’t continue to rest; he too had quite a lot of things to do.

He first spent half a day gathering those he had agreed could participate in the Plane Nightmare project, and held a meeting.

Then he conducted a secondary test to filter out some researchers who seemed suitable on paper but might not be practically fit.

It wasn’t that they were incapable, just not suited.

Research on the Plane Nightmare’s corpse, after all, was oriented towards Spiritual Armor, Spiritual Weapons, Spiritual Creatures, Black Hole Technology, Gravitational Technology, Spatial Technology, etc.

He couldn’t just put someone originally responsible for automation systems in the Main Ship project here, as the Plane Nightmare couldn’t be automated.

Its body was entirely made of Black Hole Material.

Even if Chen Ming wanted to replicate the situation with the Phase Giant Beast Clan Leader and reanimate it, he couldn’t.

However, he did consider the Scavenger; while it couldn’t defeat the Plane Nightmare, it was at least at a comparable level.

Perhaps with machinery of such scale, applying a Plane Nightmare’s skin might achieve a similar effect.

But this wasn’t something that could be done now.

So, Chen Ming temporarily excluded some from the project, leaving the door open to involve them again when the opportunity arose.

Besides eliminating those whose abilities weren’t suited, Chen Ming also identified a batch of individuals he thought required his focused consideration after testing.

The capabilities of these people were evidently much more aligned with Chen Ming’s new project compared to those eliminated.

As the early phase of this new project, specifically the research on Plane Nightmare’s dismembered limbs, progressed, he would then decide based on the current personnel list and actual project progress who could participate.

Chen Ming also requested a new experimental site from the Legion, isolating the Plane Nightmare’s limbs as a separate large-scale project to prevent interference with the Main Ship project.

Meanwhile, it also provided others an opportunity to engage with this project.

After all, a subproject under one of Chen Ming’s large projects would only involve Chen Ming’s people, at least those associated with Chen Ming, whereas an independent project could attract more people.
