Soul Emperor Awakening

Chapter 552 - 550: Long Yuwei’s Identity

Reincarnation Level Martial Arts—an incredibly tempting prize. It was one of the reasons the Su and Yan Families attacked the Lin Family, and the primary one at that. There was only one such manual on the entire continent. How could it not drive them to madness?

Lin Xuan was naturally very interested. It wasn’t just its rarity. He was more curious about what kind of martial art it was that no one could seem to master.

"Reincarnation Level Martial Arts..." Long Yuwei shook her head and sighed. "The Lin Family has never possessed any Reincarnation Level Martial Arts. The rumors spreading outside are complete nonsense!"

"No Reincarnation Level Martial Arts?" Lin Xuan was speechless. He hadn’t expected this answer.

"That’s right. We’ve never had any," Long Yuwei continued. "If we did, who could possibly be a match for our Lin Family? Actually... if we’re talking about Reincarnation Level Martial Arts, you could say the Lin Family *does* have one, in a way!"

"Oh? What do you mean?" Lin Xuan asked.

"Our Bloodline Power can rival Reincarnation Level Martial Arts!" Long Yuwei said with a serious expression. "When the Bloodline Power is fully awakened and mastered, the force it unleashes is potent enough to match the effects of a Reincarnation Level technique!"

’Bloodline Power...’ Lin Xuan’s eyes lit up. Thinking it over, he realized she was right. He possessed the Bloodline Power, so of course he knew how mighty it was. After all, it was a power that could grant Great Perfection Talent. How could that not be equivalent to Reincarnation Level Martial Arts?

Of course, that was contingent on actually reaching the Great Perfection Realm. The problem was that the chances of doing so were incredibly slim—just as rare as obtaining Reincarnation Level Martial Arts in the first place.

"Then, Mother, have you seen Reincarnation Level Martial Arts before?" Lin Xuan asked.

’If she hadn’t seen Reincarnation Level Martial Arts, how could she possibly know its effects?’ From the memories he had of the Elders, Lin Xuan recalled that information about his mother was scarce and mysterious. She was simply known as his father’s wife, who was now temporarily acting as the Patriarch and managing the Lin Family.

Long Yuwei sighed, choosing not to answer. Instead, she asked, "What do you plan to do next?"

"I should probably go back and speak with the Bu Family first. At the same time, I need to gather information on Medicine King Valley and find a way to get inside. Otherwise, there’s no way to obtain the Resurrection Grass," Lin Xuan said after a moment of thought.

"Resurrection Grass..." Long Yuwei looked at Lin Xuan, a resolute light gleaming in her eyes. "Actually, there is a way to obtain the Resurrection Grass right now!"

"Obtain the Resurrection Grass?" Lin Xuan was taken aback, unsure what his mother meant. "What way? Is it being sold somewhere?"

He immediately dismissed his own thought as soon as he said it. If it were available for sale, it would have been snatched up long ago, and it wouldn’t be known as something exclusive to Medicine King Valley. They would have found it by now, so why all the talk about it being too difficult to acquire?

"Aside from Medicine King Valley, Resurrection Grass has never been discovered anywhere else. The Soul Reviving Pills that appear at auctions are also from the Valley, but the grass itself is truly not for sale," Long Yuwei explained.

"Mother, then how can we get it? What is this way you’re talking about?" Lin Xuan pressed.

"It’s simple. We’ll just take a trip to Medicine King Valley," Long Yuwei said calmly.

"To Medicine King Valley? Mother, you know the way?" Lin Xuan’s heart leaped with joy. He hadn’t expected his mother to know its location. But his excitement quickly faded, replaced by confusion. "Then why haven’t we gone before? Is there some reason you can’t talk about?"

"Sigh... The truth is, I am from Medicine King Valley. I’m the daughter of the Valley Master," Long Yuwei said with another sigh. "But I severed my relationship with my father long ago... How could I possibly go back?"

Lin Xuan was shocked, but at the same time, it was within his range of expectations. ’My mother’s identity has always been a mystery, with no one knowing her origins. To think she’s the daughter of the Medicine King Valley’s Valley Master... what an astonishing background!’ No wonder she knew where it was. If she didn’t know, then likely no one else did either.

Medicine King Valley had a very strict rule: its women were absolutely forbidden from marrying out. Their husbands had to marry into the valley. Because Long Yuwei did not make Lin Chenyun do this, she had a major falling out with her father and severed all ties with Medicine King Valley.

So, even though she knew the way to Medicine King Valley, she couldn’t go. After all, if she did, the Valley Master would never agree to give her the Resurrection Grass.

"Then what are you suggesting now, Mother?" Lin Xuan’s expression darkened as he began to guess her intention.

"I’ll go back and offer a humble apology, hoping I can beg for a stalk of Resurrection Grass. If I don’t return, you just take the grass and come back..." Long Yuwei gave a bitter smile. Perhaps it was for the best that she go with her son rather than anyone else. She also wanted her father, whom she hadn’t seen in years, to meet his own grandson.

She wasn’t asking for her father’s forgiveness. All she wanted was to trade her own freedom for a single stalk of Resurrection Grass and to let her father meet Lin Xuan just once. It was that simple.

Lin Xuan fell silent. He had more or less anticipated this outcome. He forced a smile and said, "Who knows? Maybe Grandfather won’t be so heartless. Maybe he’s already forgiven you by now."

"Forgive me?" Long Yuwei shook her head. "Impossible. When the Lin Family was in its most dire crisis, he didn’t send anyone to help. Besides, your grandfather and I haven’t seen each other in over twenty years. If he had forgiven me, he would have come looking for me long ago."

She heaved a deep sigh, a flicker of sadness crossing her face. But she had no regrets. She would never regret choosing to be with Lin Chenyun. It was impossible for him to marry into her family, and she herself had grown tired of Medicine King Valley’s rigid rules. Why did they have to remain so isolated, instead of venturing out to see the world?

In reality, the valley was simply too isolationist, unwilling to let its legendary Alchemy Technique spread to the outside world. This was especially true for the Valley Master’s daughter. One could only imagine the pressure the Valley Master must have been under. After all, what father would want his own daughter to leave him?

"Wait here while I pack a few things. You’ll come with me to Medicine King Valley," Long Yuwei said with a relieved smile. "I don’t know what will happen, but it’s a trip I must make... because you’re back. Even if I’m no longer with the Lin Family, at least you’re here. I have no other worries."

She had long wanted to return to Medicine King Valley to plead her case, but she was always afraid that if she went, she would never see her son again. Now that he had returned, the heavy burden in her heart was finally lifted. Moreover, he had grown so strong that she no longer needed to worry about him.

"Alright..." Lin Xuan didn’t say anything more. Perhaps the outcome wouldn’t be as terrible as they imagined. Nothing was certain.

After they finished packing, Long Yuwei left for Medicine King Valley with Lin Xuan. When the Elders asked what was happening, she gave them a brief explanation: she was heading to the Valley.

The Elders said nothing after hearing her plan. They might not have known the full story, but they had heard rumors. Perhaps now was the time to finally settle this old debt. As things stood, only by traveling to Medicine King Valley could they obtain the Resurrection Grass.

For now, this was the only way they could find the Resurrection Grass.
