Lin Jingjing spoke for a few more moments before telling everyone to go get some rest.

Lu Shaoyu, however, did not leave. She stood in the doorway, watching Mo Xuan lie in the treatment pod. Turning to Lin Jingjing, she asked, “Director Lin, what do we do next?”

“For now, just focus on your training,” Lin Jingjing replied.

“The time isn’t right.”

‘Mo Xuan hasn’t fully recovered yet, and they still haven’t figured out what experiments Huang Bo Lin was conducting on Blue Star.’

‘Rushing in now would only get more people killed.’

“Yes!”

After Lu Shaoyu left, everything outside fell completely silent.

The door closed, leaving only the five of them in the room.

Lin Jingjing looked over at Feng He, who was sitting to one side. Her eyes were swollen from crying, and her gaze was fixed unblinkingly on Mo Xuan in the treatment pod.

“Sister Lin, will Alderick really be punished?” Feng He lifted her head and asked earnestly.

Lin Jingjing nodded, then pulled a chair over to sit beside her. “He will be.”

“And if he isn’t punished, I’ll make him regret it,” Lin Jingjing said comfortingly, pulling Feng He into her arms.

Just as the two were comforting each other, Shi Feng’s stomach suddenly rumbled.

RUMBLE…

It was quite loud.

Shi Feng clutched his stomach, looking at them awkwardly. “Sorry, I’m hungry.”

Feng He gave a small laugh. “None of us have eaten all morning. We must all be hungry. Let’s go get some food.”

“What about Mo Xuan?” Gu Kaiwen asked, gesturing toward the treatment pod.

Feng He stood up and wiped her eyes with the back of her hand, managing a smile. “It’s fine. The treatment pod will shut down on its own once he’s fully recovered.”

Hearing this, the other two were relieved.

“Come on, let’s go eat.” Lin Jingjing took her by the arm and led her out of the room.

—

“They already know which planet we’re on.” Huang Bo Lin sat in a chair with his legs crossed, his sharp gaze fixed on the person opposite him.

Feeling the weight of Huang Bo Lin’s sharp gaze, the subordinate who had come to report lowered his head even further.

“Yes.”

“Moreover, they’re already discussing how to attack us.”

Huang Bo Lin chuckled lightly at his subordinate’s words.

‘Attacking them won’t be so easy. The moment Lin Jingjing and her people set foot on this planet, I’ll make sure none of them ever leave.’

“Tell Dr. S to create more monsters in the meantime,” Huang Bo Lin commanded. “Oh, and recall all the administrators.”

Hearing this, the subordinate’s eyes widened in disbelief.

‘Under normal circumstances, the administrators would never be gathered together. For the Young Master to issue such an order… a great battle must be on the horizon.’

‘So, the Empire and us are finally going to war.’

“Yes, sir!” the subordinate replied before withdrawing.

A look of anticipation spread across Huang Bo Lin’s face. He was eager to see when Lin Jingjing would bring her forces to attack him.

Perhaps, deep down, he longed for release.

He picked up the glass on his desk, swirled the red liquid within, and lifted it to his nose for a moment before downing the contents.

‘Su Wen’s physical condition was improving, but the doctors said she still couldn’t wake up.’

‘One day, she will.’

After finishing his wine, Huang Bo Lin rose and went into the bedroom. He sat on the edge of the bed, a gentle smile gracing his features as he gazed at his wife.

He missed his wife more and more these days, to the point where she filled his dreams.

In his dreams, Su Wen was vibrant and cheerful, her smile so radiant that Huang Bo Lin found he couldn’t look away.

“My love, please wake up soon.” Huang Bo Lin leaned over the side of the bed, his voice soft and gentle.

But the woman in the bed could not respond. Huang Bo Lin didn’t mind. He simply continued to sit there and speak to her.

He rubbed his cheek against Su Wen’s hand, feeling her warmth, and a sliver of comfort found its way into his lonely heart.

With his eyes shut tight, Huang Bo Lin leaned against Su Wen and slowly drifted off to sleep.

Perhaps it was because he had been dreaming of Su Wen so often lately, but Huang Bo Lin could no longer suppress his longing for her.

In the past, he wouldn’t have slept beside her, afraid he might accidentally hurt her.

But now, he missed her too much. Sometimes, when he was startled awake by a nightmare, he would come to her side. Only by seeing her lying there in the medical bed could he feel that any of it was real.

After Huang Bo Lin fell soundly asleep, Su Wen’s heart began to beat a little faster.

Her hands twitched slowly, a clear sign that Su Wen was desperately trying to wake up.

But she couldn’t.

Alderick, who had been beaten so badly he’d ended up in a treatment pod, remained unconscious for the better part of the day before slowly waking.

But upon waking, he was informed that his position had been revoked. Not only that, but his entire family was under investigation by the King for trafficking contraband.

This was the King’s way of giving them a chance. If the investigation turned up nothing, the Kebis family would be safe. But if it did, they would be punished to the full extent of the law.

When a robot delivered the news, Alderick couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

‘The King… stripping him of his position? How is that possible?’

‘How could that woman, Lin Jingjing, have so much power?’

“I want to see the King!” Alderick shouted, trying to stand. A nearby robot blocked his path and explained dutifully, “The King is resting. He is not to be disturbed at this hour.”

“I don’t care! I want to see the King!”

The robot repeated, “The King is resting.”

But Alderick wasn’t listening. He couldn’t believe his brilliant future was just… gone.

He collapsed to the floor, burying his face in his hands and sobbing.

The warm lights of the treatment room shone down on him as the robot stood watching from a distance.

The only sound in the empty room was his weeping.

He hadn’t felt any regret when he was being beaten, but now that he knew the price, Alderick was filled with it.

“I was wrong,” Alderick wailed.

But unfortunately, there were no do-overs in this world. The wrong he had done couldn’t be undone simply by saying, ‘I was wrong.’

No one would pity him. He had brought this all upon himself.

When Mo Xuan awoke, it was already the following afternoon. He opened his eyes to find himself lying in a bed.

His body was free of pain, and his head no longer ached.

He sat up, moving his limbs, and realized his body was completely healed.

Then he saw Feng He, who had fallen asleep in a chair beside him, her head resting on the edge of the bed.

Mo Xuan watched her for a long moment before reaching out to gently stroke her hair. ‘She must have been so worried about my injuries.’

Feng He wasn’t sleeping deeply and stirred awake at his touch.

She rubbed her eyes and sat up. The sight of Mo Xuan awake instantly cleared the sleep from her mind.

“You’re finally awake!” she cried, throwing herself into his arms.
