Sorry, Our Captain Is a True All-Rounder
Chapter 189: We Miss You So Much
Lin Jingjing looked at the little animals and immediately crouched down to pet and hug them.
A lion bounded right into Lin Jingjing’s arms, nuzzling up to her affectionately.
‘Mistress, you finally came to see us! You haven’t been here in so long. We missed you so much.’
Lin Jingjing raised her hand to stroke the lion’s head, a smile fixed on her face.
“I’m so sorry. I’ve been busy lately, so I didn’t have time to come see you,” Lin Jingjing explained.
As soon as she finished petting the lion, a nearby tiger shoved it aside and leaped into her arms.
‘Mistress, pet me, pet me!’
‘Mistress, me too, me too!’
‘I want pets, and I want hugs too.’
‘…’
More and more animals crowded around Lin Jingjing, forming several layers deep until she was completely hemmed in.
Feeling the squeeze, Lin Jingjing stood up and shouted to them, “You’ll all get a turn!”
“I’ve been using a lot of my spiritual power lately, and I’m so grateful for all your help. Thank you, truly!”
With that, Lin Jingjing began to hug them, one after another.
There were so many animals in the Spiritual World that Lin Jingjing lost track of how long it took to hug them all. Finally, holding a rabbit, she stood in the middle of the crowd, smiled, and said, “I’m tired. Let’s all take a nap together.”
‘Yes, yes!’
‘I love sleeping with Mistress!’
Lin Jingjing lay down, pillowed her head on a tiger’s belly, and slowly closed her eyes. Here in her Spiritual World, she played to her heart’s content and slept soundly.
But in the real world, she had been lying in bed, fast asleep, for two full days and nights.
This was the first time Lu Shaoyu had encountered such a situation, and she was worried sick.
‘This is their Director! How could she be lying in a coma for so long without Doctor Feng showing the slightest bit of worry?’
Two days passed. Seeing that Lin Jingjing was still asleep, Lu Shaoyu’s heart was frantic. When she ran into Feng He, she made a point to stop her and ask.
“Doctor Feng, Director Lin has been unconscious for so long. Is something wrong with her?”
“No, she just overused her spiritual power and entered her Spiritual World,” Feng He explained. “This has happened before. That time, she slept even longer.”
“Don’t worry, Major Lu. Sister Lin is fine,” Feng He said, patting her on the shoulder comfortingly.
“Really?” Lu Shaoyu found it hard to believe. She had never heard of anyone staying in the Spiritual World for so long.
“Really,” Feng He affirmed with a firm nod.
Receiving this assurance, Lu Shaoyu breathed a sigh of relief. ‘As long as she’s okay.’
With her mind at ease, Lu Shaoyu’s anxiety lessened. As she got busy with her work, she no longer worried that Lin Jingjing might pass away at any moment.
Lin Jingjing’s stay in the Spiritual World was rather long this time, possibly because she had been using her spiritual power continuously for extended periods with very short breaks in between.
Now that she finally had a chance to rest, her entire being relaxed upon entering the Spiritual World.
This, in turn, caused her to stay there much longer.
In the Spiritual World, Lin Jingjing slept until she woke naturally. She gazed at the surrounding scenery, which had become even more lush and vibrant, then looked at the animals around her.
Feeling the breeze, Lin Jingjing’s mood lifted even higher.
After she awoke, the animals also began to stir, one after another.
‘Mistress, you’re awake~’
‘Mistress, do you have to leave us again?’
‘Mistress, if you go, we’ll miss you.’
‘Mistress…’
The animals and even the plants called out to her, “Mistress,” one after another, making Lin Jingjing’s heart melt.
Their calls made Lin Jingjing reluctant to leave, but she had no choice. She had important tasks to complete, and besides, Feng He and the others would be worried if she didn’t wake up soon.
“I’ll come back and spend time with you again,” Lin Jingjing promised them, and then she departed the Spiritual World.
Upon leaving the Spiritual World, the Lin Jingjing lying in bed snapped her eyes open, giving Lu Shaoyu, who was standing vigil by her side, a terrible fright.
She never imagined Lin Jingjing would wake up so suddenly, or so abruptly.
‘Still, it’s a good thing that Director Lin is awake!’
Lu Shaoyu said excitedly, “Director Lin, you’re awake! Do you feel unwell anywhere?”
“I’m fine.” Lin Jingjing shook her head. Not only was she fine, she felt completely refreshed. Her whole body felt much lighter than before.
“As long as you’re okay, as long as you’re okay,” Lu Shaoyu repeated, her heart finally settling back into place.
“Did anything happen while I was out?” Lin Jingjing asked, getting out of bed. “That guy Huang Bo Lin never waits long before stirring up trouble.”
Lin Jingjing didn’t know how many days she’d been asleep and worried that she might have missed Huang Bo Lin making a move.
“No, Huang Bo Lin hasn’t done anything.”
“Vice Director Mo has gone to negotiate with the Six Great Armies. He’s asking them to contribute some troops so we can take Huang Bo Lin’s main base.”
‘Mo Xuan went to negotiate with the Six Great Armies?’
‘That’s good. It will save a lot of time.’
“So, how did the talks go?”
Lu Shaoyu gave a dry chuckle. “Not great. Aside from the Sixth and First Corps, the commanders of the other four are all making excuses to get out of it.”
Xie Yun, the Commander of the Sixth Corps, has helped us before, so when we asked for troops this time, he agreed without any fuss.
As for the First Corps, since several of our own people came from there, Beisang also agreed immediately.
The remaining four Army Commanders refused, no matter what. Vice Director Mo talked until he was blue in the face, but they still wouldn’t agree.
“I don’t know what they’re so afraid of. We’re just asking for some troops, not for the commanders to fight themselves.”
‘They wouldn’t even agree to that. How petty.’
“It’s one thing for them to refuse, but they even gave Vice Director Mo a hard time—forcing him to drink, giving him the cold shoulder, and some even mocked him to his face,” Lu Shaoyu added, eager to report their misconduct.
“They said that the four of them only got to where they are today because of you.”
Lin Jingjing let out a soft laugh after hearing this. ‘Let’s not even get into whether the four of them relied on me to get where they are today.’
‘And so what if they did? I’m willing to let them. Who are these people to object?’
‘How dare they mock Mo Xuan. I was only going to borrow some of their troops and let them sit on the sidelines. Now, they can all join the fun.’
‘After all, she, Lin Jingjing, was fiercely protective of her own.’
“What day is it today?” Lin Jingjing asked, stretching lazily.
“Sunday.”
‘Tomorrow’s Monday. Time for the general assembly.’
“Alright,” Lin Jingjing nodded.
Seeing the smile playing on her lips, Lu Shaoyu suddenly remembered the assembly tomorrow. ‘Don’t tell me Director Lin is planning to report this to the King?’
For a moment, Lu Shaoyu almost felt sorry for those four army commanders.
‘Really, what were they thinking, provoking Director Lin for no reason?’
‘Well, they’ve done it now. Tomorrow’s going to be quite a show.’
‘Last time, Director Lin single-handedly threw all those arrogant, domineering, and useless officials into prison.’
‘Suddenly, she found herself looking forward to it.’
