Solo Farming In The Tower

Vol 2. Chapter 74: Welcome to the Kindergarten of Destruction! (74)

CK Entertainment Headquarters, Recording Studio.

Bzzzz.

“Yes, this is Cho Kyungsoo, composer from CK Entertainment’s A&R Team 2.”

Cho Kyungsoo, who was working on the arrangement for the song Bat-Bat had entrusted to him, answered his vibrating smartphone.

Then—

“Hello, I’m the CEO of Saetbyeol Music. Would it be possible to get in touch with the composer Suzubub?”

A CEO from a company he’d never heard of was asking for Sejun’s contact information.

The reason these calls kept going to Cho Kyungsoo was because his name was listed as the arranger on the song. As an arrangement slave, he wouldn’t get a single penny of royalties.

“Sorry, I don’t know either.”

He quickly ended the call.

Bzzzz.

Even after that, dozens of similar calls came in. Since two more of Sejun’s songs had recently been released, the number of inquiries for the composer Suzubub had skyrocketed.

BZZZZ!

“Ugh! I said I don’t know!”

Irritated, Kyungsoo snapped and yelled at his phone before hanging up.

I’d love to tell them! But if I do…

If he leaked anything about Sejun, he would suffer horrific torture from the demon god Kali.

However—

—Kyungsoo. Don’t you understand that answering calls like that could tarnish the reputation of Sejun-nim and Theo-nim?!

He made another mistake.

“What?!”

—If a slave behaves poorly, it reflects badly on the master! Since you’ve harmed the reputation of Sejun-nim and Theo-nim, that’s one minute in hellfire!

“K-Kali-nim! I was wrong! Please…!”

—Too late!

“AAAAAAAGH!”

Cho Kyungsoo experienced one minute in hellfire—equivalent to a hundred years in mental torment.

Then—

Bzzzz.

His phone vibrated again.

“Hello… this is Cho Kyungsoo, composer from CK Entertainment’s A&R Team 2.”

Kyungsoo answered the phone very politely.

“This is a writer from the XBS show Masked Composer King. Do you happen to know how to contact Suzubub?”

“Ah, I’m sorry. I don’t know how to reach him either. He’s a very private composer.”

“Then… what does the composer look like? Just curious.”

“Ah, his looks…? He has really good skin… and he’s incredibly handsome.”

His skin was radiant thanks to Theo’s massages, but the “handsome” part was just flattery.

—Kukukuk. I see you’ve learned your lesson after a taste of hellfire.

Fortunately, Kali was pleased with the flattery.

“So just to confirm, you’re saying composer Suzubub is incredibly handsome? Thank you! PD-nim! He’s a visual genius!”

“Seriously?! Nice! Alright, everyone—pull every string you’ve got and find Suzubub’s contact info! If we land the composer behind today’s hottest hits, we can survive the next broadcast slot! Let’s go!”

“Let’s go!!”

Thus, the rumor that composer Suzubub was a visual genius began spreading, and the broadcasting stations mobilized to recruit Sejun.

***

In the van en route to their next schedule, the group Moonlight Fairy.

“Did you hear? The Phoenix members all fainted after seeing a ghost in the recording studio.”

“Wow. I’m jealous. That’s like a huge lucky omen!”

“Still… I hate ghosts…”

While Moonlight Fairy members Cha Yuri, Kurosaki Ria, and Ma Yujin were chatting—

“Fuhut. The case is closed!”

The quiet youngest, Oh So-young, suddenly spoke with a proud expression.

“So-young, what case is closed?”

“Yujin, don’t bother. She probably just came up with another weird theory again. How many times has our ‘great detective’ barked up the wrong tree?”

“What do you mean wrong tree?! Don’t you remember that I was the first one to find out Sera unnie was dating?!”

“That’s only because you noticed her couple ring first!”

“That’s the great detective’s skill—lightning-fast evidence detection!”

“Naruhodo!”

“Ria-chan, don’t encourage her. So-young’ll get too full of herself.”

“Hai!”

“Nooo! Ria-chan, you have to be on my side!”

So-young clung to Kurosaki Ria’s arm with exaggerated cuteness.

“Hmph. Then I’ll decide after hearing your latest deduction!”

“Oh! Right—Sera unnie!”

Prompted by Ria, So-young suddenly turned to Sera.

“Huh? What is it?”

Despite the ruckus, Sera looked up from her book, unbothered.

“The bell sound at the beginning of Second Wind! I realized—it’s exactly the same as the bell your brother-in-law’s dog used to wear! So the true identity of composer Suzubub is… your brother-in-law’s brother!”

So-young declared her deduction like it was a big reveal.

“…Huh?”

“Your brother-in-law’s brother is Suzubub?!”

“So-young-chan, I don’t think that’s it…”

“Yeah, we heard the bell sound too. It sounded pretty generic.”

The others responded with disbelief.

“Hmph. There’s no way Great Detective Oh So-young could be wrong.”

Despite their reactions, So-young remained confident.

What they didn’t know was that—even though her reasoning was totally illogical—So-young’s deduction was actually correct.

Sometimes, intuition really is more important than logic.

“If you’re that confident, how about betting your midnight snack?”

“Deal!”

Thus, the bet was made—and all eyes turned to Sera.

“Sera unnie~ Could you ask your brother-in-law’s brother?”

So-young asked sweetly, eyes sparkling like a puppy begging for food.

She was certain Sejun was Suzubub.

“…Should I?”

Sera hesitated.

She had grown closer to Sejun, but both her dad and her boyfriend Sedol had warned her repeatedly about what kind of existence Sejun truly was.

Whenever she’d let her guard down because of his clumsy charm—

“Sera, Sejun-nim is truly terrifying. Never be fooled by his aloof exterior.”

Her father’s warning would ring in her ears.

That’s why, even when meeting Sejun before, she warned the other members to be careful—though they thought it was just a ploy to impress her boyfriend’s brother.

Still, with Pinky Girls’ Second Wind, Phoenix’s Never Die Love, and Fantasy Boys’ Parallel World all topping the charts, Sejun and Suzubub held the #1 and #2 spots on every chart with no signs of falling.

For reference, Second Wind was holding 3rd place on every chart. If those two newer songs hadn’t come out, it likely would have held #1 for 10 straight weeks.

If they could land a song like that…

Swayed by So-young’s certainty, Sera felt temptation growing.

She wanted a Suzubub song as the title track for Moonlight Fairy’s final album. Their Last Dance—she wanted it to be dazzling.

“Sigh… Alright. I’ll ask him.”

“Yay! Sera unnie, thank you!”

So-young hugged Sera.

“Unnie, thank you!”

“As expected of our leader! Sera unnie, you’re the best!”

The other members joined in, hugging her.

The van suddenly filled with emotion.

“Sera-chan, here!”

Ria placed Sera’s phone in her palm.

“Right now?”

“Hai!”

Ria nodded vigorously, and the others slowly backed away, eyes filled with expectation.

“Okay. Whew…”

Sera took a deep breath {N•o•v•e•l•i•g•h•t} and made the call.

She could have asked Sedol to handle it, but this was business. Her pride as a ten-year veteran artist wouldn’t allow her to rely on her boyfriend for everything.

(Of course, if Sejun said no, she was planning to ask Sedol anyway.)

As soon as the call connected—

—Puhuhut! You’ve reached the great Hybrid Chairman Park! Since the Chairman is cooking, his right paw—me, Vice Chairman Theo—has answered the call, nya! What’s up, nya?!

Theo’s voice came through.

Kkueng!

[Kkueng wanted to answer the phone, da-yo!]

Kking!

[The great Kkamang can answer with his tongue!]

“Theo oppa! Let Taecho say ‘Hello’ too!”

Through the receiver, she heard Kkueng, Kkamang, and Taecho’s voices.

“It’s Theo! Unnie, give me the phone!”

“Theo, it’s me—Sera. Can I talk to Sejun-nim?”

Sera pushed Cha Yuri’s face away from the phone and asked.

Puhuhut. Got it, nya!

Whoosh.

“Chairman Park, it’s a call from Sera human, nya!”

Theo leapt and clung to the back of Sejun’s head, holding the phone to his ear.

“Hello?”

“Hello, Sejun-nim.”

“Yes. Sera-nim, what’s the matter?”

“Ah, well…”

Sera hesitated to speak.

Then—

“Sejun-nim, are you the composer Suzubub?!”

Another voice interrupted—Oh So-young, eager to confirm her deduction.

“Yes, I am. But I didn’t do it alone.”

“I knew it! Great Detective Oh So-young was right!”

“So-young-chan! Amazing! Sugoi!”

“Sejun-nim said he didn’t do it alone, so you’re not completely right!”

“It still counts! Yuri unnie’s buying tonight’s snack!”

“No! That’s not—”

As Sejun confirmed the truth, So-young and Yuri began squabbling noisily.

“Shut it before I make you.”

Sera’s cold voice silenced them instantly. Though usually quiet, Sera was terrifying when angry.

“Sorry about that, Sejun-nim. Actually… I wanted to ask if you’d consider working on our album with us.”

Sera apologized and got to the point.

And—

“Sure.”

Sejun’s answer was, of course, yes. The chance to work with a girl group he used to like? He no longer had romantic feelings, but his fan heart remained.

“But I usually work at night. Is that okay?”

Because he had to match Bat-Bat’s sleep schedule.

“That’s fine.”

“Then I’ll bring the arrange sla—no, the arranger—to DD Entertainment tonight.”

Sejun was planning to drag along arrangement slave Cho Kyungsoo, who had become surprisingly useful under Bat-Bat’s coaching(?).

“Okay. Call me when you arrive at the DD building—I’ll come down to meet you.”

“Will do. See you then.”

After hanging up—

“Taecho didn’t get to say ‘Hello’ yet…”

Taecho looked at Sejun with the face of someone who had lost everything.

“…Wait a sec.”

Flustered, Sejun grabbed his phone.

“Mom?”

He called Kim Miran and asked her to call him right back.

Bzzzz.

The phone vibrated shortly after.

“Heheh. Kkamang oppa, answer it.”

Taecho held the phone out toward Kkamang.

Kihehe.

Slurp.

Kkamang answered with his tongue.

Then—

“Hello. This is Daddy’s phone, but Taecho answered it.”

“Oh my. Taecho’s so good at answering calls.”

“Heheh. Really? What were you doing, Grandma?”

“I was cooking dinner, of course.”

“Heheh. Daddy’s cooking right now too. Grandma, today Taecho…”

Taecho began chattering away and ended up talking to Kim Miran for over an hour.

“Why is dinner ramen?”

“That’s how it turned out.”

Because of the long phone call with Taecho, Kim Miran hadn’t been able to prepare dinner and served ramen to Park Chun-ho when he came home.

“Come eat.”

Of course, the Kindergarten of Destruction had a proper meal.

A while later—

[Teacher Park Sejun of the Kindergarten of Destruction has sent 19 “Creation Children Tainted by Destruction” to dreamland.]

[As a reward, lifespan increased by 19 hours.]

[As a reward, 1.9 billion Tower Coins obtained.]

[As a reward, <Earth (Lv. 6)> gained 0.0019% evolution experience.]

Sejun had successfully put all the Destructionlings to sleep.

“Aileen, I’m heading out.”

“Okay. Write a great song.”

[Heheh. Sejun-nim, good luck!]

“Yeah! Let’s go, Kkueng.”

Kkueng!

With his companions, Sejun headed to DD Entertainment HQ.

Thus began production of Moonlight Fairy’s legendary 25th and final album: Under The Moonlight—with the famed composer Suzubub.
