Chapter 705: How Should He Confess to Her

Evelyn was too shy to even lift her head when hearing Caden Lockwood’s sweet words.

However, she bravely spoke her mind: "What a coincidence, I’ve missed you too!"

Hearing this, the corners of Caden Lockwood’s mouth lifted into a faint smile.

He gently loosened his hold on Evelyn, then picked her up and carried her into the villa.

It was then that Evelyn noticed Caden’s face, marked by a deep fatigue, with a smile that seemed to hide worries, not reaching his eyes.

Evelyn was almost certain in her guess: something bad had happened to him.

Was it a work-related issue?

Last time, he had harshly reprimanded Shannon Dunn. Shannon wasn’t one to concede easily—she was likely still plotting how to win him over!

Thinking this, Evelyn pouted, not wanting anyone coveting Caden to linger around him.

Otherwise, what if Shannon found an opening one day? What would she do then?

Seeing Evelyn’s troubled expression, Caden immediately asked, "What’s wrong?" with a tone filled with tension.

He was worried that L had acted in advance, telling Evelyn everything.

Yet evidently, this wasn’t the case.

If Evelyn knew the real reason he adopted her, she definitely wouldn’t be so calm in his arms now!

Had he become so jumpy from nerves?

Caden silently mocked himself, yet some things were bound to happen sooner or later.

He couldn’t avoid them.

"You’re in a bad mood," Evelyn said directly. "What’s wrong? Is Shannon causing trouble at the office again?"

"Her?" Caden replied disdainfully, "After I dealt with her, she’s learned her lesson. At least, for a short while, she won’t dare do anything again."

Seeing Caden’s arrogant expression, Evelyn couldn’t help but smile.

"So it’s not her!" Evelyn’s tone was light. "Then why do you look so unhappy?"

Caden looked at Evelyn, laying her gently on the bed, surprised at how well she understood him now.

Even though he had deliberately hidden his true emotions, she still picked up on them?

"I’m fine," Caden said softly, "Just thinking about how you’re about to start school soon, and then you’ll have less time to be with me."

"Don’t you also have work to keep you busy?" Evelyn’s cheeks were still flushed, "Obviously, you’re busier than me, so why do you always act like you have all the free time in the world?"

"Because I can manage my own schedule," Caden replied proudly, "Unlike you, still under teachers’ guidance!"

"But I’m Mrs. Lockwood!" Evelyn raised her voice, "What teacher would dare control me?"

Hearing Evelyn’s words, Caden couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

He pinched her small nose, pretending to scold her with a straight face, "Who gave you permission to misuse the authority of ’Mrs. Lockwood’?"

Evelyn stuck out her tongue. Seeing the laughter in Caden’s eyes, she felt extremely accomplished.

This man returned home with a heavy heart, but she had managed to make him laugh with just a few words.

She was seriously impressive!

Watching the upward curve of Evelyn’s smile, Caden’s hands involuntarily clenched into fists.

He wanted to confess the reason he adopted her long ago, but he just didn’t know how to say it.
