Chapter 693: Will Her Brother Approve of You Two Being Together?

Caden Lockwood did not refuse. He sat down opposite James Lockwood, his face expressionless and icy, as if he were facing a stranger.

Looking at the cup of tea before him, Caden Lockwood couldn’t help but recall the time when James Lockwood fed him poison as a child.

Seated across from him was his father, but in reality, it could very well not be his father at all!

At the very least, a true father-son relationship couldn’t possibly be like this!

"I have already looked into Shannon Dunn’s situation and made the decision I would make. Do you have any objections?" Though James Lockwood’s tone was inquisitive, it was very clear he had already resolved Shannon Dunn’s case.

Caden Lockwood’s lip curled into an extremely mocking smile as he lightly opened his thin lips, "Since you have already decided, of course, there’s nothing more for me to say."

"Then..."

Before James Lockwood could finish, he heard Caden Lockwood continue, "However, I have kept a copy of all the evidence. If she dares to do anything to my wife again, I guarantee I will never let her off!"

"You should understand that it’s better to fish than to eliminate utterly," James Lockwood’s tone was laden with deep meaning.

Caden Lockwood’s brow furrowed; he was somewhat perplexed by James Lockwood’s words.

Originally, Caden Lockwood thought Shannon Dunn’s backers were connected to James Lockwood.

But now, hearing James Lockwood’s words, it’s as if he too wants to lure out the person behind her. That’s why he hasn’t dealt with Shannon Dunn.

Is James Lockwood deliberately confusing the truth, or does he truly not know the truth?

"Shannon Dunn’s situation is just the beginning, so don’t spend too much time speculating now," James Lockwood spoke softly, "Caden, I called you here mainly to discuss the issues between you and Evelyn."

Caden Lockwood lowered his dark eyes and said coldly, "It’s not the chairman’s place to worry about my wife’s issues."

As he finished speaking, he stood up, ready to leave.

"I’ve heard they’ve found Evelyn’s brother," James Lockwood raised his voice, "And it seems her brother is quite a difficult person?"

Caden Lockwood immediately halted his steps and glared at James Lockwood, exclaiming angrily, "What are you trying to do?"

"Has Evelyn never asked you what the purpose of adopting her was back then?" James Lockwood met Caden Lockwood’s gaze, "Even if she doesn’t know, her brother, lurking in the shadows, seems not to be entirely clueless."

"I’ll handle these matters myself," Caden Lockwood said coldly, "And don’t think you can use this to threaten me!"

"I’m not threatening you, just reminding you," James Lockwood lowered his volume, "As for your mother, are you really going to let her be disappointed?"

Listening to James Lockwood, the veins on Caden Lockwood’s forehead throbbed fiercely, and his expression darkened miserably.

"Although you have little affection for me as your father, your mother..." James Lockwood sneered, "You still respect and love her, don’t you?"

"It’s none of your business!" Caden Lockwood’s voice squeezed through his teeth, "And you have no right to meddle in my and Mother’s matters!"

"Caden," James Lockwood spoke softly, "You used to be decisive in whatever you did, without much hesitation. But now, with Evelyn by your side, you have a family, and there’s more for you to consider."

Pausing, James Lockwood continued, "The burden on you grows heavier; do you really think you’re an iron man who can withstand everything?"
