Skill Trees Are Everywhere
Chapter 85: How Can You Sully a Person’s Reputation Out of Thin Air?
Chapter 85: Chapter 85: How Can You Sully a Person’s Reputation Out of Thin Air?
Array Spirit: "...Really?"
For some reason, looking at Su Han’s expression, it felt a sudden impulse. It would rather have given him two more treasures than have to deal with the prospect of "seeing him again."
But when it remembered it had no treasures left, it quickly dismissed the thought.
"Then... allow me to send you out."
Su Han gave it a surprised look. ’They offer this kind of service? That saves me the trouble of using the tunnel.’
’Then again... digging an escape tunnel right in front of this thing would be a bit awkward.’
’Looks like I’ll have to fill this tunnel in when I get back. At the very least, I need to block up the entrance on this side of the ruins.’
"In that case... much appreciated."
The phantom nodded. "Don’t resist. I’ll send you out."
Su Han nodded. "Alright."
Before the word even left his lips, the scene before him changed. He was now standing on the former site of the small grove North of Lingzhou City.
’Huh? This place... looks a little familiar.’
Just as he was muttering to himself, a sudden chill ran down his spine.
He instinctively turned around. The moment their eyes met, Su Han couldn’t help but gasp.
"A ghost!"
He scrambled back several steps in shock. Staring at the face before him—a pockmarked, cratered disk like the surface of the moon after a meteor shower—Su Han almost unleashed a Celestial Punishment on the spot.
Celestial Punishment—capable of vanquishing evil, exterminating Demons, expelling ghosts, and slaying gods—was undoubtedly the ultimate bane of a creature like this.
Thankfully, his reason prevailed, and he restrained the impulse.
After taking a few more steps back and getting a clear look at the owner of the face, Su Han... far from feeling relieved, felt a fresh wave of dread wash over him.
She was eight feet tall, broad-shouldered and thick-waisted, with a cleft lip, an upturned nose, and a pair of tiny, sesame-seed-sized eyes that were straining to widen to the size of mung beans.
A ring of downy hair surrounded her cleft lip, looking for all the world like a full beard. Above her tiny eyes, now widened to the size of mung beans, two thick, straight eyebrows shot upward.
Her long eyebrows stretched to her temples, and her hairline receded to the heavens. A pair of large, protruding ears twitched, and for a moment, one might wonder if she shared an ancestor with a certain famous pig spirit.
Most importantly, whether intentionally or not, her face was fixed in a faint, ambiguous expression that wasn’t quite a smile, and it sent an inexplicable chill through anyone who saw it.
It was hardly the time for it, but as Su Han stared at the person before him, a line from a song couldn’t help but pop into his head—
’Your smile is like a vicious dog, and it’s thrown my heart into chaos.’
"Who are you?"
As Su Han sized her up, she was doing the same to him.
And the more she looked, the more annoyed she became.
Her number one hatred in life was for people better-looking than her.
Therefore... from the day she was born, there wasn’t a single person she didn’t hate.
Oh, wait... it wasn’t just people.
Seeing Su Han staring at her with an expression that said he could barely stand the sight—as if he were about to burst into tears—the woman’s brow furrowed. She asked in a deep, booming voice,
Su Han froze for a second when he heard her voice.
’You’re a woman?’
The voice was gruff, but he could faintly detect a feminine timbre beneath it.
’Previously, he’d seen her well-developed pectoral muscles and just assumed she was an avid bodybuilder. He never would have imagined... This person looks more like a man than Zhang Yide and the Black Tornado put together, and she’s actually a woman?’
The woman’s frown deepened.
"Who are you? Why have you appeared in my woods? Was it you who ruined my woods?"
’Woods?’
Su Han paused. ’No wonder this place looked so familiar.’ Looking around at the desolate landscape, he imagined what it would look like if a forest were still standing where he was.
’Isn’t this the little grove North of Lingzhou City, the one I’ve visited twice before?’
’If I recall correctly, I even burned four Skill Trees here.’
While Su Han was lost in thought, the woman’s eyes bulged, and a hand the size of a large fan came swinging toward his head.
"You’re the one who ruined my woods, aren’t you?!"
Su Han used Instant Teleportation to dodge the slap, then glared at the woman who resorted to violence at the slightest provocation. A flicker of anger appeared in his eyes.
"Who said I’m the one who ruined your woods? How can you just make baseless accusations!"
’What does she mean I ruined her woods?’
’Okay, so I did mess up her woods a little, but I only burned four Skill Trees!’
’The whole forest ending up like this has nothing to do with me! How can she just make baseless accusations?’
However, the woman seemed convinced it was Su Han’s fault and had no intention of giving him a chance to explain.
Her first slap having missed, the woman turned and lunged at Su Han.
Su Han dodged another slap, his brow furrowing in irritation.
’If her first attack was because she suspected I destroyed her woods, then this second one is suspicious.’
’I was about to explain, but she clearly doesn’t want to hear it.’
’Especially since... I can tell that last slap was a killing blow.’
Now understanding the situation, Su Han dodged another one of the woman’s slaps and pulled a wooden club from his Storage Ring.
He combined Instant Teleportation with his Blunt Stick, landing a solid blow on the back of the woman’s head. The momentary stun caused the power she was channeling into her hand to dissipate.
Just as she started to gather her power again, Su Han struck once more, and the energy in her hand scattered.
This... was a new move Su Han had developed after gaining the ’No Distance’ skill. By borrowing from the Space Law, he had mastered short-range Instant Teleportation.
Instant Teleportation plus the Blunt Stick: a guaranteed interrupt for any non-instantaneous enemy skill.
Of course, against an instant-cast skill or just a brute-force physical attack, the interrupt effect was completely useless.
Unfortunately for her, the woman’s slaps were neither instantaneous nor powerful enough to overwhelm Su Han.
And thus, the following scene unfolded...
The woman would gather power in her hand; Su Han would use Instant Teleportation to appear behind her and interrupt the process with a crack of his club.
Su Han interrupted, so the woman would start gathering her power again. She’d start gathering, and Su Han would interrupt again.
After this repeated six or seven times, the woman realized her attack was useless against Su Han and stopped wasting her energy.
She put some distance between them and glared viciously at Su Han.
She glared at Su Han, and Su Han glared right back.
Growing uncomfortable under Su Han’s gaze, a vicious glint appeared in the woman’s eyes.
"What are you looking at?!"
Su Han just smiled. "Did you know?"
The woman: ".....???"
"In this Crown Prince’s eyes, the people of this world—or, to be more specific, the women of this world—are divided into two types."
The woman: "...??"
Su Han continued, still smiling. "Two types: the good-looking ones, and the ugly ones."
The woman: "....."
Her expression darkened instantly. She knew he was about to call her ugly.
However...
"You must be thinking that I’m about to say you belong in the ugly category, right?"
The woman: ".....???"
’Am I wrong?’
"No."
Su Han shook his head. "You don’t belong in the ugly category."
The woman: ".....!!!"
She looked at Su Han, and though she was loath to admit it, she couldn’t help but wonder, ’You’re so young. When exactly did you go blind?’
But then...
"Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying you’re in the good-looking category, either."
The woman: "....."
Su Han’s words had completely bewildered her. For a moment, she even forgot what she was doing.
’In his eyes, there are only two kinds of women in the world: the good-looking and the ugly.’
’I’m neither ugly, nor good-looking.’
’So what am I?’
’Wait!’
’Could it be...’
