Chapter 108: Feel It, It’s Really Cold This Time
Chapter 108: Chapter 108: Feel It, It’s Really Cold This Time
After confirming that the sinister power could do him no harm, Su Han used Instant Teleportation and reappeared at Su Xiaoqi’s side.
Looking at Su Xiaoqi, Su Han’s gaze was as calm as the sea before a storm, deep and unfathomable.
"What... what was that just now?"
Su Xiaoqi spat out another mouthful of blood; even fragments of his internal organs spilled out with it.
"Hahahaha!"
He let out a wild laugh, his garishly blood-stained teeth looking exceptionally savage.
"Want to know?"
Su Han watched him, his gaze placid, his expression unreadable.
"Heh, forget it, descendant of Old Su. You’ll never get the answer in this lifetime."
SPURT.
Another spray of crimson blood erupted from his mouth. Su Xiaoqi—who moments ago had been groveling before Su Han, the very picture of a coward clinging to life—had just severed his own heart meridians, committing suicide right before his eyes.
His eyes narrowed slightly. Su Han hadn’t expected him to be so decisive.
Glancing at Su Xiaoqi’s corpse on the ground, Su Han frowned slightly. Lightning crackled to life in his hand, instantly engulfing Su Xiaoqi’s body.
When the lightning faded, the corpse had disintegrated, leaving not even a trace of bone or ash behind.
Watching as Su Xiaoqi’s very soul was shattered and dispersed, Su Han’s expression remained grim.
He turned his head to look at Su Yi and Su Xiao’Er, wanting to see if they had been affected by that black aura.
Though he knew worrying about Su Yi was completely unnecessary.
"KRR~ KRR-KRR-KRR~"
He turned, but before he could speak, the sound of mechanical grinding suddenly filled his ears.
Stunned, Su Han whipped his head around and saw the Old Ancestor’s coffin... move.
As Su Han stared, his eyes wide, the Old Ancestor’s coffin and lid began to break apart and reconfigure themselves.
Before long, it had transformed into a mechanical puppet.
"Gongshu No. 7. Intelligence: 250~"
A stiff, cold voice emanated from the mechanical puppet, giving him... a familiar sense of déjà vu.
WHIRRR~
An eerie glow lit up in the mechanical puppet’s eyes. It turned its head, its gaze falling upon Su Han.
"Well, grandson? Pretty cool entrance for your Old Ancestor, wouldn’t you say?"
Su Han: "..."
’Dammit! I guess I’m the one with an IQ of 250 for believing that stupid nonsense about the Old Ancestor being stone-cold dead.’
Looking at the mechanical puppet, Su Han stroked his chin, a thoughtful look on his face.
"Grandson? You stunned?"
Seeing Su Han remain silent, the mechanical puppet shuffled over to him and waved a mechanical arm in front of his face.
A glint flashed in Su Han’s eyes as he muttered to himself under his breath.
"I’ve heard of corpses rising from the dead, but the Old Ancestor is really something else... even his coffin can do it!"
Mechanical Puppet: "..."
’You’re the one who rose from the dead! Your whole family is...! Right, your whole family includes this Old Ancestor, so I’ll skip the insults.’
However...
While the puppet held its tongue, Su Han’s muttering wasn’t over.
"A bizarre reanimation like this must be the work of some evil spirit... I hear Celestial Thunder represents the might of heaven and earth and is the bane of all evil. How about... I toss a Thunderball at it and see what happens?"
"Don’t!"
Su Han’s casual suggestion utterly terrified the mechanical puppet.
It backed away several steps, shaking its head frantically as its mechanical voice whined, "My dear grandson, your Old Ancestor adores you! You can’t screw your Old Ancestor over like this!"
Su Han looked at the mechanical puppet with a half-smile. "Old Ancestor? You... done enjoying the show from the sidelines?"
"My dear grandson, don’t do anything rash! Impulse is the devil.
Your Old Ancestor wasn’t just watching the show! I had my reasons, you know!
You know my situation. If you were to bring down a single bolt of Celestial Thunder..."
Su Han cut off the Old Ancestor’s pathetic whining. "Old Ancestor... aren’t you already supposed to be stone-cold dead?"
The Old Ancestor didn’t speak but extended a mechanical arm.
Su Han: "...??"
"Feel it."
The Old Ancestor shoved the mechanical arm in front of Su Han. "Go on, feel it. See? Your Old Ancestor really is cold this time."
Su Han: "..."
’Alright, you win.’
He shot the Old Ancestor an exasperated look and took a deep breath.
"That guy from before, what was his deal?"
’The Old Ancestor is just being a troll; it’s not worth getting worked up about it.’
’Better to get some answers first. After all, with this Old Ancestor... who knows if he’ll suddenly declare that his time is running out, then just keel over and die for real.’
The Old Ancestor’s eyes flickered twice. He let out a long sigh, which came out as a mechanical whir.
"Speaking of which, it was all my fault for being too soft-hearted back in the day."
’You? Soft-hearted?’ Su Han rolled his eyes.
’You’re the guy who started a rebellion with just seventeen people. You rounded up the maids, servants, and guards from your own estate—you didn’t even spare the old laundry woman!’
’If you were so ’soft-hearted,’ how could you have possibly conquered the entirety of the vast Jing Country?’
While Su Han was scoffing internally, the Old Ancestor’s leisurely voice spoke up. "That fellow... was a Human Demon."
"Human Demon?"
"Mhm. The offspring born from the union of a human and a member of the Demon Race."
"The offspring of a human and a member of the Demon Race is called a Human Demon?"
The Old Ancestor nodded. "Then what about humans and the Immortal Race?"
"A Human Immortal."
Su Han: "..."
’So, does that mean the offspring of a human and a member of the Demon Race is the legendary Human-Demon, then?’
’So that’s where the term Human-Demon comes from. Wow. You learn something new every day.’
The Old Ancestor glanced at him, not knowing what he was thinking.
He organized his thoughts before speaking. "That Human Demon once impersonated me and brought chaos to the Jing Country.
I shattered his Dao Heart, placed a restriction on him, and took him as a slave, bestowing upon him the name Su Xiaoqi.
Back then, I knew my time was almost up, so I brought Su Xiaoqi into the Imperial Mausoleum. I laid a Restriction inside it to make sure he could never leave.
After a month deep inside the Imperial Mausoleum, the oppressive, inauspicious power of heaven and earth weighed on me more and more heavily.
During one confrontation with that inauspicious power, I happened to exhaust all of my own strength.
And it was at that moment I discovered that the suppressive force of that inauspicious power had actually weakened somewhat.
And so, this Old Ancestor had an idea—what if, once I got rid of the power I’d gained from cultivating that particular art, I would no longer be rejected by the world?
So I knocked Su Xiaoqi out, sealed his cultivation, and prepared to transfer my own cultivation base to him. My plan was to start over from scratch to prolong my life.
However... perhaps it was Heaven’s envy, but I had only transferred half of my cultivation when Su Xiaoqi suddenly woke up ahead of schedule.
Sensing my power was greatly reduced, Su Xiaoqi fought through the torment of his slave brand to strike back at me. Add to that the oppressive power of the world...
And so, my legendary reputation... I... croaked."
Su Han: "..."
’Yup! That’s the Old Ancestor for you!’
’Even your death had to be so unconventional and distinguished.’
Not knowing whether to feel pity or to laugh, Su Han maintained a poker face, glanced at the Old Ancestor, and asked, "And then?"
"And then, that bastard took advantage while I was still warm..."
Su Han: "..."
"Stop!" Panicking internally, Su Han clapped a hand over the Old Ancestor’s mouth. "Old Ancestor, careful you don’t get 404’d!"
