What was that just now? What changed? His power is still the same, but...that last attack, he moved a lot faster.

His attack, the way he moved, it felt so...reckless. And immensely dangerous at the same time. It’s as if he suddenly cast away his survival instincts and fear, and is attacking at full force with no regard for self-preservation.

He must’ve been unconsciously holding back before, in fear of moving too fast to react to any counterattacks. But with his effectively unlimited regeneration, he can afford to tank any amount of damage...and it looks like that’s exactly what he’s doing. This isn’t good...

"<Are you alright, Master>?" Cure asked me, as the gash across my side healed and closed up.

Yeah, I’m good, thanks to you.

"Hehehe, that’s one down, and now-...," Chuckled Leto, before I blasted him away with a pressurized burst of telekinesis, launching him down towards the ground, a deafening crash ringing out as he slammed down with immense force, triggering a shockwave upon impact, deep cracks spreading out across the ground.

"Hey, now, don’t go writing me off as dead so easily," I remarked, as I ascended a bit higher to get more distance.

"H-How...how the fuck are you still alive?! I-I landed a clean hit, I felt it, I saw it!" He snapped incredulously, as he sprang back onto his feet.

"What can I say, guess you felt and saw wrong," I shrugged in response.

"Don’t you fucking try and gaslight me, asshole, I-...!" He began, before trailing off and pausing for a moment, his eyes widening slightly before continuing with a smirk, "Ah, now I get it. That infinite HP and Vitality, that’s what saved you. Which means...when you reach your time limit with this Spirit Fusion, I’ll be able to kill you!"

Shit, he figured it out. I’m only immune to his Death Scythe while fused with Cure...against other threats, Spirit Fusion with Cure and simply summoning Cure and draping them around my shoulders is pretty much the same, but that isn’t the case with him.

Based on what Samsara told us, the latter won’t be enough to keep me safe from his Death Scythe. On that note, Cure, how much time do we have left?

"<Less than two minutes, Master>."

Okay, then. Let me know once we’re down to thirty seconds. I’ll retreat at that point, I-...my train of thought was cut off as Leto suddenly appeared right before me with a vicious smirk across his face.

I quickly began to fly back as he swung the back of his scythe across, striking the left side of my head and sending me spinning across the air with immense speed to my right, dazing me upon impact.

As I healed and regained clarity, I crashed onto a rooftop and skidded across, before quickly rolling away as Leto came swooping down on an undead Razor Kite, a Mid Level Mutant.

He leapt off the creature straight towards me and swung his scythe down, the blade grazing my right bicep as I rolled across and leapt back onto my feet, firing out a rapid telekinetic blast while simultaneously extending my whips out and sending them zipping in towards him from either side.

He lunged forward powerfully, slowing down a bit as my blast hit his chest and caved his ribcage in, but he was undeterred. A deep gash appeared across my chest as he swung his scythe across with immense force, cutting across my skin even as my Telekinetic Zone slowed down his swing.

As he leapt towards me and drove his right foot out, I concentrated and intensified my Telekinetic Zone in front of myself, bracing myself. The thrust of his foot slowed down as it entered the range of my Telekinetic Zone, but still slammed onto my arms with crushing force as I crossed them in front of myself defensively.

I grimaced in pain as the bones in my forearms snapped like twigs, before I found myself hurtling back through the air. He rapidly chased after me, leaping across the top of the buildings.

He caught up to me in no time, kicking my left side and launching me across to my right, before giving chase again. He proceeded to pinball me around the area relentlessly, his movements getting sharper with each strike as he continued attacking with reckless abandon, a sense of instinct starting to appear in his movements.

"<Less than thirty seconds left, Master>!"

Damn it...

As Leto caught up and slammed both feet against my chest, shattering my ribs, I flew through the air at a breakneck speed, before crashing onto the side of an apartment building. The windows shattered as the wall behind me caved in, deep cracks spreading out rapidly as the building began to break apart.

Okay...I need to find an opening and then summon Onyx, I can escape through the shadows with him. I just need to buy some time...

"Well, this is surprising...I heard that you’re a really slow learner, and here you are, improving at an alarming rate," I remarked, as Leto landed atop the building opposite to this one with a smug look on his face.

"Hm? Hah, I just figured out the right approach for myself, that’s all! And now, I’ll be unstoppable! Especially once I kill you and add you to my ranks," He smirked maliciously.

Alright, keep him talking a bit longer...the instant my Spirit Fusion runs out, I’ll summon Star to trigger a blinding flash, and the instant Leto is blinded, I’ll retreat with Onyx. Less than ten seconds left, I-...

Suddenly, as the building continued to break apart, an alarmed cry rang out from below. My eyes widened as I glanced down, to see a woman and a little girl rushing out of the building, a chunk of rubble falling and crashing down in front of them. No...they must have failed to evacuate in time, and ended up hiding in this building.

My chest tightened as I then met Leto’s gaze, an evil look of malice in his eyes...as he leapt off the building straight towards them.

"<Master, no, we’re almost out of-...>!" Began Cure.

My body moved without thinking, as I swooped down as fast as I could. I gritted my teeth as I triggered a burst of telekinesis to propel myself, just barely getting in between the civilian pair and Leto...right as the blade of his scythe plunged into my chest and burst out my back, as I reached the end of my time limit, my Spirit Fusion wearing off.

In that instant, just a single thought went through my mind, one word flashing in my head, right before everything went dark. Death.
