Chapter 751: Chapter 751: The Undead King Attacks (Part 5)
Point-of-View: Ariella Velle

I sprang back as a massive blast of sand came shooting towards me, evading the attack as I backed away and got some distance, before firing out a rapid blast of Negative Energy.
I frowned as the blast struck the creature’s exoskeleton, barely doing any damage whatsoever. I then backed away further as another blast of sand came shooting towards me, letting out a slow exhale as I came to a skidding halt across the ground. Looks like I’m going to need to hit this thing with a hell of a lot more force if I want to wrap this up quickly.
I’m up against an undead Dune Scorpion, I knew these things are supposed to be massive, but seeing it in person is something else, it’s insanely humongous. Not to mention its durability. I can’t let this fight drag out...with just its sheer size alone, this thing’s causing a lot of collateral damage every time it moves, let alone attacks.
There are several corpses scattered about, some of them Hunters and the rest seem to be civilians that weren’t able to evacuate in time. Up against a Catastrophe Level Threat, they were likely killed without it even trying to kill them.
Something’s weird though. It’s clear that this Dune Scorpion has already taken some damage, it has a bunch of deep cuts all over its exoskeleton. At first, I thought it must be the wounds it sustained when Leto fought and killed it before turning it undead.
But that can’t be it. All he needs is one hit with his Death Scythe to kill something, he wouldn’t need to cut it all over. Also, the shape of these cuts, the curved blade of a scythe would result in a different shape, these look more like they were caused with swords.
What exactly inflicted this damage, how-...? No, it doesn’t matter, at least not right now. I don’t have any time to waste, I need to take down this thing as quickly as possible.
"[Spirit Fusion, Apostle of Pride: Superbia], followed by [Blaze Ignition: Flare]."
The Dune Scorpion unleashed a fierce burst of sand at me as flames erupted around me, swirling around violently as I fused with Superbia. The sand melted down as the heat surrounding me surged immensely, the massive creature charging in towards me.
"[Create Wind Spear]," I chanted, a green spear appearing in my right hand, before chanting against as the Dune Scorpion closed in and whipped its stinger towards me with immense force, "[Immovable Object]."
A devastating shockwave burst out as the stinger collided against my barrier, the ground around us breaking apart as deep cracks rapidly spread out, thick puffs of dust bursting out as the entire area rumbled violently.
I then let out a slow exhale as the flames cloaking my entire body turned black, as I channeled Negative Energy around my body. I streamed the flames along the spear, the flames intensifying from the wind generated by the spear.
As the Dune Scorpion raised its stinger, I launched myself straight towards it with a pressurized burst of flames, blasting myself through the air with an immense surge of speed.
And now...
"[Unstoppable Force]!" I exclaimed, driving the spear forward as I concentrated and intensified the flames around it.
In the blink of an eye, I drilled straight through the middle of the Dune Scorpion’s head and body, its Core briefly coming into sight before vanishing in a shatter, a wide, deep tunnel carved through its body.
A loud crash rang out as it collapsed onto the ground, a gloopy liquid oozing out and seeping into the ground as I deactivated my power boosts and took a deep breath.
Alright, that’s one Catastrophe Level Threat down. Kai and I were each sent to handle one, while Ciel and Cleo were sent to take down the third. Kavi and Baraq are here too, they were assigned to exterminate clusters of Calamity Level Threats that had spread out across the Sanctuary.
Now, then-...hm?
As I took my I-Watch out of Treasury, it immediately dinged with a notification. I opened the message, frowning as I went through it. Not good, Jaden’s up against Leto by himself, and the message was sent two minutes ago.
Spirit Fusion only lasts for five minutes with a given Spirit, so-...oh, goddammit. I let out a frustrated sigh as several Calamity Level Threats came into sight all around me, surrounding me in unison.
I can sense that all the Apostles except Superbia have been summoned, which probably means that Kai’s in the same boat. Would’ve been nice if he’d left a couple more of them in reserve for me, but oh well, can’t blame him for not considering that in the heat of battle.
"Well, this is annoying. Get out of my w-...," I began, before trailing off as a couple of devastating bolts of lightning came shooting down from above, hitting a few of the undead Calamity Levels and reducing them to ash almost instantly.
"Not sure why they all came rushing over this way while they were fighting me, but...they’re mine to fight, so leave this to me."
"Hey, good timing, Baraq. I’ll take you up on that offer, they’re all yours," I called out, before launching myself towards a nearby rooftop with a concentrated burst of Negative Energy from the soles of my feet.
Baraqiel promptly swooped down, lightning surging around his entire body as his hair stood up on end. A vicious spark and crackle rang out behind me as I landed on the rooftop and shot towards the location I’d been sent.
It’s a fair distance away, I could get there quicker if I use my power boosts, but I think I better conserve them for when I fight Leto. I wonder if the others are heading this way too?
Well, I guess I’ll find out soon enough. Either way, I hope they’re all alright. I better hurry, before it’s too late...
