Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure
Chapter 2528: Who’s stronger? (10)
"Well done."
To everyone’s surprise, it was Old Man Lancelot who fell in the end.
Or at least to the surprise of everyone that didn’t know him.
Those that did know him had seen him holding back at the very last second so that Alidus could break through.
To the very end, he focused on teaching Alidus.
It really was something that only someone like Old Man Lancelot could do.
After all, he wasn’t even focused on winning in the first place.
When it was over, Alidus helped Old Man Lancelot up and the two of them walked off the stage together.
Only behind this harmonious scene, Alidus whispered, "You shouldn’t have let me win."
Old Man Lancelot just smiled without saying anything.
But when they arrived back in the VIP room that we were sitting in, I moved over to Old Man Lancelot’s side and said, "It seems like your age is catching up to you."
He once again smiled without saying anything, but the look in his eyes was clear.
Even if he put on a strong act, he was someone that knew his own body very well and was clear on his own situation. He could put on a strong act in front of everyone, but it was only a matter of time before the house of cards came tumbling down.
There was only so much that the relic could do to restore his vitality.
That was the main reason that he had let Alidus win in the end.
Seeing the way that he looked at me, I didn’t say anything else.
If that was how he wanted to act, then I was going to let him do what he wanted. Not that I could even stop him if I really wanted to.
Unlike the others, he had formed a true bond with the relic and it wasn’t one that I had created. Even if I wanted to take it away from him, it wasn’t as if the relic would have listened to me.
I couldn’t feel the connection with this relic like I did with the relic that I had created.
But after a long moment of silence and thinking things through, I felt that there was something that I should at least ask.
"Do you intend to burn yourself out in a blaze of glory in the end?"
Old Man Lancelot was caught off guard when he heard this before he looked at me with a strange look. It seemed like he was confused why I would suddenly ask something like this.
After all, the agreement that we had come to in the beginning was different from how I was acting now.
What I was doing now was even going against that agreement.
With a sigh, I said, "I know that you want to live for your vengeance, but that was before. That was when you had no one else in this world, but can you really say the same thing now?"
After saying this, I looked at Alidus and the other relic users that were watching the tournament.
It didn’t seem like Old Man Lancelot was affected by the words that I said at first, but then his expression changed a little bit. It only flashed on his face for a second before it returned to normal as if it had never been there.
In the end, it seemed like he was still someone that was consumed by his hatred.
But at the very least, they had touched his heart and had made him reconsider if even for a second.
This was something that would take more time, but I hoped that he wouldn’t lose himself to his rage in the end.
There was no good ending waiting for him if he were to lose himself to his rage like this.
I didn’t say anything else to him since I knew that saying anything else would be meaningless.
Continuing to pester him like this would only have the opposite effect.
So I just patted his hand once before focusing on the tournament.
Though as I watched the following rounds, it wasn’t as if there was anything out of the ordinary that happened. By the round of eight, there wasn’t a single relic user other than the earliest relic users that were left.
They had the luck of the draw to reach the round of sixteen, but it wasn’t as if that would keep them in the running forever.
So it was just the ones that were in our room that went down to face each other.
One by one, they were eliminated until there were only two that were left.
Though the two that were left weren’t that surprising.
It was Alidus and the saintess.
There really was no need to say anything about the saintess since she was someone that had been able to use the relics before anyone else. Even before me, she was someone that had been chosen by the gods.
As for Alidus, he was someone that had defeated Old Man Lancelot who was the top contender as the victor of this tournament.
Since he had defeated the top contender, he naturally became the top contender.
Everyone was looking forward to the fight that was about to happen, but in the end they were all disappointed by what they saw.
Instead of an action packed fight between these last two relic users, it was an affair that was settled with just a few words.
"I won’t go easy on you." Alidus said in a voice that was filled with confidence.
But in response, the saintess just looked at him with a smile on her face.
From beginning to end, she just stood there with the same smile on her face.
Even when Alidus suddenly charged forward, it didn’t seem like she was planning on moving at all.
It was just that when Alidus swung his club down, he didn’t feel any contact at all.
His club went right through the saintess who was standing there.
