Chapter 2524: Who’s stronger? (6)
"So how many have approached you?"
There were smiles that appeared on their faces when I asked this question.
It was something that they had already been expecting to happen, but it seemed like it was much more than what they had actually been expecting.
Relic users were normally protected and it wasn’t as if representatives from the other countries would have a chance to interact with them on the regular. Much less having the chance to talk to them privately.
It was different when it came to a large event like this, especially one that had the full support of the racial alliance.
There were plenty of opportunities for them to speak with the relic users in private, especially since they were in charge of the waiting rooms that the relic users used.
Out of all the relic users that were participating in this tournament, the ones that were the most popular were all gathered in this room. It was all because they were the ones that had become relic users the earliest and were considered the favourites.
"It was surprising that they would come talk to me."
Alidus had a reason to say this since he was technically the relic user of the giant race.
Most of the representatives were from human countries, so it wasn’t as if there was much that they would be able to talk about.
It really would be hard for them to convince a giant to give up on his race and come to a human country.
But there was still one thing that they could offer Alidus.
"I never thought that they would use this kind of method, but it isn’t as if we’re against this. There were already giant tribes that were thinking about opening up more trades with the other human countries, it’s just that there hasn’t been an opportunity. It’s not something that can be done that easily."
Though he said this, the look on his face made it clear that there was something much more sinister at play.
"How much did you gouge them for?" I asked him with a faint smile.
Alidus didn’t say anything, but the smile that he showed in return was more than enough to show what had happened.
Of course, I knew that this wasn’t something that someone like Alidus would have been able to come up with on his own. Thinking about it, I remembered that Haley did leave from time to time as if she was taking care of some business.
There was a part of me that couldn’t help wondering how she would benefit from letting them trade openly like this since most trade with the giants was currently going through her company.
However, if this was something that she approved of, then there was no doubt that there was something for her to gain.
Haley would never make a deal where she would be losing out on something.
Other than Alidus, there were plenty of countries that approached the rest of the people in this room.
It was just that there really wasn’t much to speak about.
Old Man Lancelot would never leave since he was someone that was focused on taking down the forces of Destruction.
As for the saintess, she was dedicated to serving the gods so she would never actually work for any human countries.
The rest were all those that had been recruited from loyal soldiers of the Kite Kingdom, so it was even less likely that they would betray the Kite Kingdom at a time like this regardless of how much was offered to them.
Though surprisingly, there was one thing that Old Man Lancelot did have to say.
"I want to bring something up."
We were surprised to hear Old Man Lancelot saying this before looking at him with gazes that were slightly filled with worry.
It wasn’t as if we believed that he would betray the racial alliance and work with those countries.
But if there was even the slightest chance of this...
In the end, there was nothing like that.
"They proposed having me teach their relic users."
This wasn’t something that was surprising since there were proposals that had already been made regarding this. It was just that this was something that had never been accepted since the conditions that they made were unacceptable.
Or it was better to say that they made conditions that seemed like they were planning on kidnapping Old Man Lancelot. So the only option was to deny every proposal that they had made.
But now it seemed like something had changed or else Old Man Lancelot wouldn’t have suggested something like this.
"I want to open up a school."
This was certainly a twist that they didn’t expect, but they could see that he wasn’t playing around. The look on his face showed his intentions to actually open up a school for relic users to learn from him.
It was just that this wasn’t something that could be done that easily.
If it were to actually happen, it wasn’t as if the other countries would have allowed this kind of thing to be opened in a place that they didn’t control. So there was no way that we would have been able to open this in a place that would have kept Old Man Lancelot safe.
"They’re willing to back down and let us open it in the Kite Kingdom."
I wasn’t the only one that was surprised when I heard this.
The others were all surprised since they knew how stubborn those from the small countries were. For them to actually concede on something like this, it seemed like something had happened.
As if he knew what we were thinking, Old Man Lancelot said, "They saw how strong those other relic users became after I taught them and I told them that it could be the same for them."
I couldn’t help shaking my head with a faint smile when I heard this.
In the end, the only thing that could move those people was greed.
