Chapter 244 - Stories Falsified
"Ms. Tokui?"
It was quite a pity. But Benton wasn't the sole ruler of the newbie camp this year. Many other second gens were accompanying him as well.
But Benton had made preparations from beforehand. For he cannot allow anyone to obstruct his 'show'.
He believed that the newbies must feel fear. And only those who would be able to overcome the fear would be the useful ones. And indeed it was true.
Most newbies, unlike Klautz, were shaking in their legs and gasping from time to time in fear and worry.
But Benton had missed one important 'variable'. Indeed he was not as meticulous as Klautz.
Shizu placed her hands on her hips with a pinched expression on her face.
"Brother Benton. What are you doing here? Is this a place to showcase your tyranny?"
Benton wasn't a tyrant by any means. But some things needed to be done. But Shizu, who had not met Benton before, could only judge the book by its cover.
Most of the second gen at influential guilds were quite busy. Especially second gens with high aspirations like Benton. They hardly socialize with each other. As such their thoughts and plans are always shrouded in a mystery for the world to only make guesses.
It is only when they make 'factions' through the newbie camp that they 'unite'. Before that, they were completely oblivious to each other's personalities and were only acquainted on short terms with each other.
Thus, not being an adult had always been a thorn in the path of Benton as well as the others. It is only when they come of age that new horizons open up for them.
They had indeed failed to appreciate the safe environment that their parents have provided them. Many of them were rebellious.
Had they walked in the shoes of Klautz and the other newbies, they wouldn't have been so bitter about it. The summoning portals of the tutorial zone didn't make any differentiation in age and gender. People from all age groups are summoned in hell and only death awaits those who are not summoned in the 'prime' state of their bodies.
'This is bad. What should I do? I can't let her interfere.' Benton's pupils shook as his brain began running like horses.
At the end of the day, he was but a child. But quite a mature one at that.
"Hmmm, nice timing," Klautz whispered. "Though being on the weaker side there is nothing she can do in case Benton chooses to go all out. But he might just stop as an act of respect and appreciation for her."
Klautz nodded. He didn't know from which guild Shizu belonged as they were long wiped out from the annals of history even before Klautz had completed his 'training'. But there was reason to believe that Shizu was from an affluent guild.
Not all 'second gen' are allowed to participate in the newbie camp. Just like not all newbies survive the tutorial zone. It was a privilege reserved for the offspring of the stronger and affluent guilds as it had major political implications.
The second gens form their 'first ever political factions' and pick their 'first ever followers' in this place.
'Let's just ignore her,' Benton whispered.
Benton chose not to reply to Shizu's question. He was the type of person that preferred to do 'good work' of his own accord and didn't bother to explain to others why it was actually 'good'. This was the very reason for the revolt that he would be starting in the future.
But alas! What other choice did he have? In the world of hell, you can't be a blabbermouth and spill everything that is in your stomach. There were enemies everywhere around you and such actions would only bring about one's misfortune.
One must note that the future Benton had appeared to be a cold blooded native fanatic just because he needed to please the fanatics and gain their support. Had he spilled his true 'motives' he would have never got any support. Rather he would have died an early death.
Thus in hell, a good mask was worth more than gold.
'But why is she even asking? I agree that my true motives might be 'hidden' but the physical implications should be quite easy to discern right?' The pragmatist Benton couldn't understand Shizu's viewpoint. Indeed, Shizu was quite 'normal' compared to him.
What he was trying to do was in front of her eyes. It was clear as day. It was not Benton's fault that she was thick headed. Was it?
Benton raised his sword again. He couldn't let the climax of his 'show' get ruined. There was nothing that she could do that could stop him now.
"Ha!"
"What?" Shizu squeaked with widened eyes. "Wait!"
But Benton didn't stop. Sparks flew across Shizu's body threatening him but before she could even reach him Benton was already done with removing the head from the torso as it rolled in the ground and ate dust.
Benton's high agility wasn't just for show!
*crack*
Benton kicked the torso as the blood coming out from the decapitated neck became a fountain as if he had popped a water balloon. It spilled on the purple moss ridden floor, dying it in a color of crimson.
Shizu stood in a daze as he watched the site. And so did the other newbies.
While the other newbies were only stuck with fear and confusion. Shizu had been smitten with confusion alone.
'Something is wrong.'
Shizu didn't know of the inner implications of the event but she knew that things weren't supposed to proceed this way.
None of the records that Shizu had heard or read had any mention of such cruelty.
'Were the stories that I had heard from my big sisters wrong all along?'
