Shattered Fate

50_ Taste the Death

  • Next Chapter

Wail slowly opened his eyes as a silver aura rose from his body, his eyes glowing with the same color.

“So... you’re the one!!”

A yellow aura saturated with electrical energy erupted from Aetherion’s body.

He rushed toward Wail at lightning speed and threw a tremendous punch.

Wail dodged it at the last moment, causing the ground behind him to explode under the force of the attack.

Aetherion gave him no chance to catch his breath.

He swung his sword toward Wail’s neck, but Wail ducked and avoided the blade as well.

The knight’s attacks came one after another with terrifying speed.

A punch that nearly struck his face...

A sword strike that grazed his skin...

A relentless series of attacks that constantly forced him backward.

Wail’s eyes widened at his opponent’s power, but he quickly regained his composure.

He slipped past one of Aetherion’s attacks and struck him with his elbow, forcing him backward.

Aetherion didn’t stop.

He charged again as yellow sparks exploded from his body, and the two entered a rapid exchange amid flashes of lightning.

Wail’s lightning was silver, sharp and incredibly fast.

Aetherion’s lightning was dense and yellow, surrounding his body like a storm.

They exchanged blows in the sky and on the ground, and for a few moments, it seemed as though they were fighting at the same level.

Aetherion threw a punch.

Wail vanished in a silver flash and appeared behind him, then struck him directly in the back.

Aetherion turned at the same moment, but Wail had already vanished again.

He appeared beside him and launched a kick.

Aetherion raised his arm to block it, but Wail used the opening to fire a burst of silver lightning from his hand.

Aetherion retreated, then charged again.

His speed increased.

Then increased even further.

With every attack, he raised his level of power.

Yet Wail gradually began taking control of the battle.

Wail vanished in a silver flash and appeared directly in front of him.

He grabbed Aetherion’s arm and pushed it aside, then delivered a powerful strike to his chest.

Aetherion was pushed several meters backward while Wail stood before him, his silver aura blazing around his body.

Aetherion prepared to attack again.

“Your speed and perception... They have already surpassed the limits of human energy.”

The glow in Wail’s eyes gradually faded, returning to normal for a few moments as he breathed heavily.

He clenched his fists.

The silver aura around his body began glowing again.

Aetherion continued:

“But your attacks have become weaker... And I can clearly see that your body can no longer withstand this power.”

Wail began gathering energy between his hands.

The electricity condensed with terrifying intensity.

The ground beneath his feet began cracking, while rocks rose into the air around him and the wind tore through the grass and sand in the surrounding area.

Aetherion raised his yellow aura.

“Show me everything you have, Wail!!”

Energy exploded from Wail’s hands.

A massive beam of electricity tore through everything in its path, heading directly toward Aetherion.

The knight raised both hands, attempting to stop the beam.

His eyes widened at the tremendous power rushing toward him.

“Yaaah... What power...”

---

Elsewhere, Zino, Zaki, and Sif suddenly stopped when they saw the terrifying beam tearing across the sky.

The three froze in place.

Zino said in shock:

“Is that... Wail’s power?!”

Sif looked stunned.

“No... Impossible.”

Zaki slowly stepped backward as he stared at the beam.

“That can’t be Wail’s power...”

Sif added:

“Looks like he’s fighting someone...”

Zino quickly said:

“We can’t tell what’s happening from here! We need to get there quickly!”

The other two hesitated for a moment.

Then Zaki wiped the sweat from his forehead.

“You’re right... Let’s go. But try to hide your energy.”

The three continued toward the battlefield.

---

The scene returned to Wail, who was still releasing the beam with all his strength.

He wondered:

“Did... I finish it?”

A massive sword slowly began being drawn from its sheath.

“What incredible power...”

Suddenly, a dark yellow electrical wave tore through Wail’s beam and reached him directly.

“But...”

The wave tore through his body from his shoulder to his foot.

His energy immediately disappeared as a massive explosion erupted behind him.

Everything before Wail’s eyes gradually began fading.

The sound...

The light...

Everything.

“It’s... the end.”

Darkness and silence filled his mind.

“Is... this... death?”

---

“Ooooh nooo... I haven’t finished talking yet!!”

Wail suddenly rose while screaming in pain as Aetherion shocked him with the electricity released from his sword.

Aetherion lifted him by the neck.

“But...this power of yours is still not enough to stand against me!!”

Wail gradually stopped screaming as all his strength left his body.

Aetherion stood there holding Excalibur, while yellow and black electrical sparks appeared and disappeared around his body and across the sword.

He returned Excalibur to its sheath, then drew his metal sword.

“That was a good fight, warrior... I wish I could continue fighting you, but time is not on my side.”

Suddenly, Aetherion slashed across Wail’s left eye with his sword.

“Hah... Haaah?!”

Wail screamed in agony as he lost his sight in his left eye.

Aetherion slammed him into the ground.

“Stop screaming... You’re making me thinking I was fighting a child.”

He concealed his sword, then formed a blade of white energy in his hand.

He drove it into the eye he had just wounded, crossing the first injury.

The blade transformed completely into energy.

The energy spread through Wail’s eye, and a white aura began appearing around his body.

Wail’s screams gradually faded until he lost consciousness completely.

The aura disappeared.

Aetherion looked at him.

“This is enough for now.”

He then carried Wail over his shoulder and thought:

“Threymion... Zephyrion... I’ve finished. Stop your battles and let’s go.”

Then he shouted:

“Threymion! Zephyrion!!”

Aetherion sighed.

“I understand Threymion’s nature... But I thought Zephyrion disliked fighting without a reason.”

Suddenly, Aetherion vanished in a flash of electricity.

---

Zaki, Zino, and Sif arrived at the area, but they found no one.

There was nothing but destruction everywhere, along with a massive trench left behind by Wail’s final beam.

Zaki said:

“Did... they move the battlefield?”

Sif replied:

“What is happening here...? Could Dark have returned?”

A voice came from above:

“I didn’t sense anything resembling Dark’s aura... I don’t think so.”

Adam and Noah descended from the sky.

Adam said:

“Did you just arrive?”

Zino answered:

“Yes... And we have no idea what’s happening here.”

Sif said:

“Zaki, can you still tell where Amin’s aura came from the last time?”

Zaki replied:

“Yes. It came from this direction.”

Zino said:

“Let’s go! Maybe he’s still fighting and needs our help.”

The five of them left the area.

---

Aetherion appeared somewhere else, with flames consuming everything around him.

He drew his sword and swung it, dispersing the flames with the powerful wind released by the blade.

Then his eyes widened when he saw something strange.

Two burning arms were gripping two charred arms.

As the flames cleared, it became apparent that Amin was holding his opponent’s severed arms, with no sign of the rest of his body.

Aetherion said:

“You... Were you fighting Zephyrion?”

Amin smiled as the dark red aura around his body began fading.

“Uhhh... Sorry about burning your companion. Looks like he couldn’t handle my flames.”
