Shattered Fate

49_ The Silver Awakening

  • Next Chapter

“Great Frost Knight... Threymion Vin Norval!!”

The scene shifted to a place resembling the frozen poles.

Snow fell heavily from the sky, while the mountains and ground around them were covered in a thick layer of ice.

Threymion stood before Elyes, holding his ice axe.

He looked at him and said:

“And you, warrior... What is your name?”

Elyes remembered Zaki.

Then his smile grew wider.

“I can’t believe I’m going to say this... but I’ll play along.”

He raised his head confidently.

“Dawn Light... Elyes.”

Threymion raised his ice axe over his shoulder and spoke arrogantly.

“Honestly, I don’t care about these formalities. I see no connection between them and the principles of our species. Let’s just start the fight!!”

Elyes rushed toward him at incredible speed, while Threymion charged toward him with his ice axe.

The two clashed.

Elyes moved from one place to another in consecutive flashes of light, appearing behind Threymion and attempting to strike him with his light sword.

Threymion turned at the last moment and blocked the attack with his axe, then pushed Elyes away with tremendous physical strength.

Elyes vanished in a flash of light and appeared directly above him.

He launched a powerful kick, but Threymion raised his arm and took the blow without being pushed back more than a little.

“His physical strength is incredible...”

Elyes vanished again and began attacking from multiple directions.

But Threymion continued blocking his attacks with his axe.

Every time their weapons collided, a wave of air and snow spread around them.

Elyes was sent flying by the impact of the latest attack and crashed into an ice wall.

But he stood again and wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth.

Threymion raised his ice axe and threw it at him.

Elyes looked at it in confusion.

“Huh? What’s the point of throwing it?”

He easily dodged the axe and rushed toward his opponent.

The moment he reached him, his eyes widened and he jumped to the side, narrowly avoiding the axe as it returned to Threymion’s hand.

But its edge grazed Elyes’s arm.

He looked at the wound and noticed that his skin was rapidly freezing.

“Damn...”

He concentrated his light energy in his arm and stopped the freezing from spreading any further.

Threymion threw his axe again.

Elyes jumped over it and launched a kick toward the knight.

But the axe returned once again, cutting off his path and forcing him to retreat.

Elyes stared at the axe in confusion.

“You... There’s some kind of ability hidden inside that axe, isn’t there?”

Threymion laughed.

“Haha! You took long enough to figure it out. Haven’t you noticed that the axe keeps returning to my hand?”

He raised his axe.

“This is Isgard! The Axe of the Knights of the Frozen Region!!”

Elyes’s aura began condensing around his body while his eyes remained fixed on his opponent.

“So that’s how it is...”

His eyes began glowing orange, and an excited smile appeared on his face.

“I don’t know what your purpose is in coming to our planet... but you’re an enemy.”

His aura intensified.

“And therefore... I’ll take you down!!”

---

The scene shifted to Zaki and Sif as they headed toward the battlefield.

Zino soon caught up with them.

“I can’t sense Wail’s energy anymore.”

Zaki replied:

“Yeah... Looks like he activated his Elemental Transformation.”

Sif looked at him in confusion.

“Is his Elemental Transformation connected to our inability to sense his energy?”

Zino said:

“Haven’t you noticed that we can’t sense their energy whenever they activate their Elemental Transformations?”

Sif remembered the moments when Bahaa, Elyes, and Wail had used their Elemental Transformations.

His eyes widened.

“You’re right... I never noticed their energy actually changing.”

Zaki looked at him in annoyance.

“Idiot... Isn’t understanding energy and everything related to it your job?”

Sif became angry.

“I’m still doing it!!”

The three continued toward the last location where they had sensed Wail’s energy, as it was the closest point to them.

---

Elsewhere, Amira carefully wrapped Wail’s gift.

She placed it inside a box and hid it in her closet.

She then walked toward the window and looked at the flowers below.

She remained silent for a few moments.

Then a tear fell from her eye.

“Please... come back.”

---

The scene returned to the battlefield.

Aetherion was rushing toward Wail at tremendous speed, his metal sword aimed directly at him.

The two entered another fierce exchange.

Wail dodged the sword strikes with rapid flashes of electricity, then countered with consecutive punches and kicks.

Aetherion blocked most of his attacks with his sword, while Wail used his speed to move around him and attack from different angles.

The battle continued for several moments, and the two appeared evenly matched.

But suddenly...

Yellow lightning began crackling around Aetherion’s body.

Wail’s expression changed.

“What is this power...?”

Yellow sparks began appearing around Aetherion, and his speed and strength increased tremendously.

Wail tried to keep up with him, but he began taking hit after hit.

Wail barely dodged the final attack, then gathered electricity in his hand and charged toward him.

But Aetherion struck Wail’s elbow from underneath.

A clear crack echoed.

Wail’s eyes widened in pain.

Aetherion then sent him crashing toward the ground with a swing of his sword.

Wail fell while gasping for breath, and the Power Pulse aura disappeared, leaving him in his Elemental Transformation.

He grabbed his broken elbow and forced the bone back into place.

Then electrical energy began flowing through his arm.

Aetherion watched with interest.

“You can heal your injuries? I didn’t expect you to be able to do that with the lightning element.”

Wail raised his head.

“You can do anything if you master your element.”

“And you think you’ve mastered your element?”

Wail’s eyes widened.

Aetherion continued:

“You still have a long way to go before you master your power, boy. Don’t ever think that an ordinary human like you can master something that even the strongest warriors have failed to master after many years.”

Wail replied coldly:

“Then... they weren’t strong.”

Aetherion’s expression changed.

“What did you say?”

Wail kept his eyes fixed on him.

“They were weak.”

His fist tightened.

“Even if I haven’t mastered my power yet... I will.”

He raised his head.

“And I will never stop... even after I achieve it.”

For the first time, anger appeared on Aetherion’s face.

He charged at Wail and struck him with tremendous force, making him cough up blood.

He didn’t allow Wail to retreat.

He grabbed him by the neck and slammed him into the ground, then began raining punches down on him.

He lifted Wail from the ground and stabbed him with his sword.

Aetherion stopped for a moment.

He looked at Wail’s eyes and hair as they slowly began returning to their normal color.

“Damn... I let my anger control me.”

He lowered Wail to the ground.

“You fought with strength and courage until the very end, warrior. It is unfortunate that I never learned your name so I could remember it.”

He looked at Wail, who was unconscious, blood dripping from his mouth.

“I will remember you as... the Lightning Warrior.”

He returned his sword to its sheath, then looked toward the sky.

“I don’t think the one we’re searching for is among Zephyrion and Threymion’s opponents either... It seems we still have time to spend on this planet.”

He turned to leave.

But a voice came from behind him.

Aetherion stopped and turned around.

Wail was standing.

His eyes widened.

“You’re still standing?”

Then he looked at Wail’s stomach.

“The wound... It’s gone?!”

Aetherion raised his eyes toward him.

“You’re starting to impress me, Lightning War...”

Wail interrupted him.

“Wail.”

Aetherion stopped.

“My name... is Wail.”

Aetherion drew his metal sword again.

“It is an honor to fight you again... Wail!!”

He vanished in a flash and appeared directly in front of Wail, swinging his sword toward his neck.

Wail lowered his head and dodged the attack at the last moment, then grabbed Aetherion’s fist and pushed it away.

Aetherion continued attacking with his sword, while Wail dodged every strike, his eyes closed.

Wail suddenly moved and kicked him in the stomach, forcing Aetherion to retreat.

The knight didn’t stop.

“Here I come again...”

He charged toward him.

But before he could reach Wail, a powerful punch struck him in the stomach.

Aetherion was sent flying into the sky, but he regained his balance in midair.

“Impossible...”

A silver aura began wrapping around Wail’s body.

He slowly opened his eyes.

A brilliant silver glow appeared within them, and his expression transformed into one of terrifying calm and seriousness.

Silence filled the battlefield for a moment.

Then Aetherion’s voice echoed from above.

“So... you’re the one!!”
