Secret Marriage: The CEO's Pampered Wife
Chapter 383 - 363: Turn Around and Look Behind You 2
Sheridan was lifted overhead, giggling nonstop.
She hugged Elliot Sheridan’s face, kissing and nibbling it, leaving a good amount of drool behind.
Georgia Thorne watched the father-daughter duo with mock disgust. "It looks like you’ve been gnawed on by a puppy."
Elliot Sheridan brought his daughter closer. "Nina, Mommy’s jealous. Quick, go give Mommy’s face a few nibbles too."
Sheridan was still very young, but she could understand some of what was said.
She grabbed onto Georgia Thorne’s face and planted several big kisses on her cheeks. "Mama, Mama, kissy!"
"Alright, alright, that’s enough kisses!" Georgia Thorne hastily stopped her before she ended up a slobbery mess like Elliot.
"Alright, now it’s Daddy’s turn to kiss Mommy! Nina, close your eyes. You can’t watch this," Elliot Sheridan told the child in his arms with a perfectly straight face.
Sheridan was such a clever little thing. She heard Elliot’s words and immediately squeezed her eyes shut. Elliot seized the opportunity, turning Georgia Thorne’s face toward him for a quick kiss.
The couple was showing off their affection in the living room first thing in the morning, causing James Sheridan, who had just walked in, to let out two awkward coughs.
"Ahem. Time for breakfast," James Sheridan said, clasping his hands behind his back as he walked toward the dining room.
Caught in the act, Georgia Thorne blushed and pushed Elliot away, heading for the dining room. "Dad, good morning!"
James Sheridan grunted, then glanced at Elliot. "Be more mindful next time. You two aren’t the only ones living in this house!"
His stern lecture to Elliot only made Georgia Thorne’s cheeks burn hotter.
"I’ll be more mindful," Elliot replied earnestly.
"Nina, come let Grandpa hold you for a bit." James Sheridan took the child from Elliot’s arms. "Nina, how about you come play with Grandpa in a little while, okay?"
Sheridan didn’t understand. She looked at her grandfather, confused, her little hands reaching and pawing at Georgia Thorne.
His little granddaughter had quite a temper, just like Elliot when he was a boy.
James Sheridan deliberately moved farther away from Georgia Thorne while holding her, and Sheridan burst into tears with a loud "WAAAH!"
"Alright, alright! Back to Mama you go!"
The little one, who had been bawling her eyes out just a second before, immediately started giggling the instant she was back in her mother’s arms, leaving James Sheridan unsure whether to laugh or cry.
It was no exaggeration to call her a clever little imp.
How to describe the conflict between Georgia and Elliot? On the surface, it seemed they had reconciled, but in reality, things were just as they had been.
Elliot simply refused to bring it up.
But just because he wouldn’t bring it up didn’t mean Georgia wouldn’t.
That night, Georgia left the baby in Sharon Ennis’s care and went to the study to have a serious talk with Elliot about her career.
Elliot was in the study, working. Too many things at the company required his sole decision-making.
He was halfway through a document when he heard a noise at the door. He didn’t need to look up to know who it was.
But he pretended not to notice, his fingers continuing to flip through the papers in his hands.
Georgia walked over, her heart uneasy. Seeing that Elliot hadn’t moved, she coughed pointedly a couple of times.
She then studied his expression; it still showed no significant change.
"Um, I have something I need to talk to you about!" Georgia said, standing before his desk and raising her voice.
Elliot remained unmoved. Unable to restrain herself, Georgia went around the desk, plucked the pen from his hand, and repeated, "I have something I need to tell you!"
His pen now gone, Elliot looked up at her. "Where’s Nina?"
"She’s downstairs. Mom’s watching her." Georgia placed the pen on the desk and pulled a chair over to sit in front of him. "I’m going back to work."
"I’m serious. I know Nina is important, but I don’t want to stay at home all day. I have my own life. I don’t want to get old and realize I haven’t accomplished anything.
I really love design, and I don’t want to give it up just like this... Anyway, whether you agree or not, I’m going back to work!" Georgia rattled on, explaining her feelings to Elliot, before finishing with a firm expression, "And I’ve already promised Seraphina Goldsmith. She’s opening a studio, and I’m going to work there."
"So, you can state your opinion now," Georgia said, puffing out her cheeks as she waited for Elliot to speak.
She was already thinking about how she would counter him if he tried to argue. ’What if he says no? How will I argue back?’
To her surprise, however, Elliot said, "Didn’t you just say you were going to work whether I agreed or not?"
"You!"
"Since you’ve already made up your mind, why are you asking for my opinion?"
Georgia stammered, "I was hoping you would understand me. I want to continue designing."
"Mm."
As soon as Georgia finished speaking, Elliot hummed in assent.
She was even more confused. "Mm?"
"Mm."
He could see Georgia’s passion for design, and he truly didn’t want to confine her to the house for the rest of her life.
He just wanted her and their daughter to live happy, safe lives, with him shouldering all the other burdens.
Clearly, on this point, his thinking differed slightly from Georgia’s. It was possible he’d been wrong.
"You really agree to let me go back to work?" Georgia could hardly believe her ears.
Elliot was a very stubborn person. Once he decided on something, it was almost impossible to change his mind.
"Do you genuinely support me?"
"Of course. But I have one condition."
Georgia’s smile immediately fell. She knew it wouldn’t be that easy for Elliot to change his mind.
Pouting, she asked unhappily, "What condition?"
"You have to be home on time every day after work. Once you’re home, you can’t be busy with work; you need to have time to spend with me and the baby. Also, don’t get too tired. I’m still here to support this family. You don’t need to earn money to support us."
To be honest, those were absolutely the best conditions Georgia had ever heard.
Forget one condition like that; she would have agreed to a hundred.
A happy smile lit up her face. She threw herself into Elliot’s arms, giving him a huge hug and kissing the side of his face. "Honey, I knew you were the best, the very best man in the world!"
Elliot savored her throwing herself at him. He parted her legs and had her sit on his lap. "So now you remember to call me ’Honey’? What were you calling me just a moment ago?"
’What a petty man, holding a grudge over something so small!’
Georgia stuck out her tongue and cozied up to him, speaking in a fawning tone. "Oh, my dearest husband, you’re a great man of great magnanimity. How can you still be bothered by such a trivial matter?"
When Georgia acted coquettishly, she was just like a little girl pestering an adult for candy, a real sweet-talker.
So much so that in the future, whenever Sheridan made a mistake, all she had to do was show the exact same expression as Georgia, and his heart would melt.
He just wanted to hold his daughter in the palm of his hand and pamper her.
With Elliot’s permission, Georgia immediately called Seraphina Goldsmith.
To be honest, Seraphina was quite surprised that Elliot had agreed to let Georgia go back to work.
"You have no idea how pathetic you were that night. I was embarrassed for you!"
Georgia laughed, embarrassed. ’It’s not like I wanted to be.’
To open a studio, the first order of business was to find a space.
Georgia had been very satisfied with the location of her previous studio. It had a nice atmosphere, it was quiet, and it was easy to settle down and work.
Unfortunately, that company was under Erin Irving’s name, and after that whole incident, she hadn’t seen Erin in a long time.
That project was eventually shut down, and the company reportedly lost a huge sum of money. The once high-profile Erin Irving suddenly fell silent and vanished from the reporters’ view.
Georgia didn’t pay much attention to business matters, so she was even less aware of what happened afterward.
They spent several days searching for a workspace. The places with a nice atmosphere were too expensive, while the cheaper ones were often unsatisfactory.
The two of them, having run around all day, finally parted ways as the sun went down. "Let’s call it a day. We can search again tomorrow."
"Okay, I’m heading back then," Georgia said, glancing at her phone. She had promised Elliot she’d be home before six o’clock.
Just as Georgia stepped inside, she heard Sharon Ennis’s voice. She changed into her house slippers. "Mom, Dad, what are you doing here?"
"We came to see how you are. I heard from Sharon that you’re busy with work lately. How is it?"
"Still looking for a place."
"Looking for a place?"
"Yeah. A good studio is hard to find, so we’re still in the looking phase."
"Is a studio so hard to find? Let me help you look, it’ll save you from running around outside all day!" Sharon Ennis said with concern. "I mean, look at you! I haven’t seen you in just a few days and you’ve already lost so much weight!"
"It’s alright. He’s so busy with work; I can handle it myself," Georgia said with a smile. "By the way, are you two staying for dinner?"
"No, we can’t. We have to visit an old friend’s house tonight. We just stopped by on the way."
Sharon Ennis and James Sheridan had only been there for a little while. They played with their granddaughter for a bit, stayed for a short time, and then left.
"Mom, Dad, be careful on the road."
"Okay. Come home for dinner this weekend!"
"Okay."
"Nina, quick, say goodbye to Grandma and Grandpa!" Georgia said, taking Nina’s little hand and waving it.
After several days of searching for a studio, they finally found a reasonably good location.
She and Seraphina were very satisfied with the atmosphere and the rent. The landlord was also an easygoing person who, seeing that it wasn’t easy for the two of them to start a business, had kept the rent very low.
Once they made their decision, they immediately paid a year’s rent and signed the contract.
After settling on the location, the renovations began.
However, a problem arose as soon as the renovations began.
For those few days, Seraphina had to go on a trip to Akashima for some business, so Georgia was solely in charge of renovating the studio.
After running back and forth to the studio for several days in a row, Georgia could finally get a good rest over the weekend.
However, just as she was sleeping in a little, she got a call from one of the renovation workers. A water pipe had burst.
Upon hearing the news, Georgia rushed over to take a look. She discovered the room was a complete mess, with signs that it had been submerged and a lot of water still on the floor.
