Secret Marriage: The CEO's Pampered Wife
Chapter 379 - 359: A Great Gift for Elliot Sheridan (Part 1)
The baby was very healthy, just a little underweight at birth.
Sharon Ennis brought the baby to Georgia Thorne. The sleeping baby seemed to sense she was being held by someone new and immediately opened her big, dark eyes.
She looked at Georgia Thorne curiously. Sharon Ennis whispered from the side, "Baby, do you recognize her? This is Mommy!"
Georgia Thorne smiled and cooed at the baby. The little one blinked slowly and waved her tiny hands.
Seeing her healthy baby, she suddenly felt that all the pain she had endured was worth it.
"The little one is quite strong! She’s already trying to grab things!" Sharon Ennis gently squeezed the baby’s chubby little hand. It was so, so tiny.
Her tiny palm could only wrap around a single finger.
Georgia Thorne had a natural birth and stayed in the hospital for a week to recover before being discharged.
With a new crib in the bedroom, the atmosphere felt a little different.
On the way home, Georgia Thorne held her daughter the entire time. Now, seeing her sleeping so soundly, Georgia was just about to place her in the crib when the clever little thing seemed to sense it. She woke up instantly and started wailing with her eyes shut.
The moment Georgia Thorne picked her up, the baby stopped crying.
After this ordeal repeated two or three times, Georgia Thorne decided her daughter was a bit temperamental, only content to sleep while being held.
Elliot Sheridan came upstairs and saw Georgia Thorne pacing around the room with the baby. "The baby’s asleep. Why don’t you put her down?"
Georgia Thorne made a face. "I want to! But the moment I put her down, she starts crying!"
Elliot Sheridan took the baby. "Here, let me hold her for a while."
Georgia Thorne was desperate to use the restroom, so she quickly thrust the baby into Elliot Sheridan’s arms and ran into the bathroom.
Georgia had just finished when she saw a dark figure at the door. Elliot Sheridan’s voice came from outside, "Georgia, are you done?"
"What’s wrong?"
"There’s something you need to come out and handle."
Elliot Sheridan’s tone was extremely serious, making Georgia Thorne think something terrible had happened. She hurried out, only to see him standing by the bed, holding the baby.
"What’s the matter?" Georgia Thorne looked at him, confused. "Why are your clothes wet...?"
Seeing Elliot Sheridan’s darkened expression, her unspoken question was, ’Why does it smell like pee?’
It seemed their daughter had peed, and she had done it all over Elliot Sheridan’s expensive suit.
She couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing. "Pfft-hahaha!"
On the seventh day of her life, the baby gave her father a special gift.
Back in the room, Georgia had taken off the baby’s diaper, figuring she was empty after just peeing. She never expected that barely ten minutes later, she would go again.
Elliot Sheridan’s face was impossibly grim. He tossed the baby to Georgia Thorne and strode into the bathroom.
Georgia Thorne held her daughter, still laughing uncontrollably.
Perhaps seeing her mother’s big smile, the baby in her arms started giggling too.
A few minutes later, however, Georgia Thorne couldn’t laugh anymore, because she felt her own clothes getting wet.
’She peed again!’
This time it was Georgia Thorne’s turn to look miserable. ’Did you have to give me a special gift too?’
The baby in her arms was still giggling happily, as if she thought peeing on both her mommy and daddy at the same time was a particularly glorious achievement.
It was the first time for both Elliot Sheridan and Georgia Thorne to raise a child. There was a lot they didn’t understand, and through the process of childcare, they were slowly learning how to be capable parents.
When the baby turned one month old, the family gathered together for a small first-month celebration.
Georgia Thorne invited the siblings, Naomi Shaw and Byron Shaw. Although she had never once called Naomi "Mother," for Naomi, this was enough.
After sleeping all day, the little one had endless energy at night. She fidgeted in Georgia Thorne’s arms, one moment grabbing for Georgia’s chopsticks, the next tugging on Elliot Sheridan’s sleeve beside her. All in all, she was having a grand time.
Georgia Thorne’s arms grew sore from holding her, so Naomi Shaw offered to take the baby.
When the little one saw her grandmother, she giggled happily and waved her arms and legs even more furiously.
Byron Shaw glanced at his little... grandniece. Her features had filled out, and there was indeed a hint of Georgia Thorne in her eyes and brows. She was much cuter than when she was first born.
"Have you picked a name yet?" After all, they couldn’t just keep calling her "baby."
"Nina Sheridan. The name means ’to remember’."
The name Nina Sheridan was a bit plain, and the rest of the Sheridan family didn’t quite agree with it.
However, Elliot Sheridan was Nina’s father and had the ultimate right to name his own daughter. Plus, Georgia Thorne didn’t object.
And so, the newborn baby was named Nina Sheridan.
Georgia Thorne glanced at Elliot Sheridan with a smile. She understood what he meant by it.
On the day of Nina Sheridan’s first-month celebration, not only was Nina officially named, but Miles also had his name changed to Caden Sheridan.
Miles lowered his head and took a bite of cake, a hint of joy in his eyes. He clearly liked the name James Sheridan had chosen for him.
He really liked his life now. He had a father, he had Ms. Thorne, and he had a very pretty little sister.
Miles also loved little kids. Every day after school, he had to see Nina with his own eyes.
At first, he was afraid to get too close, but later, Georgia Thorne let him touch her. When he saw his baby sister smile, he became happy too.
Georgia Thorne had been thinking about losing weight, but now she didn’t have to. The weight was just falling off.
Her daughter was just too fussy. She loved being held and would cry the moment she was put down, even sensing it in her sleep.
Georgia Thorne held her and played with her during the day, only able to sleep herself when the baby was sleeping.
Babies sleep in fits and starts. She’d wake up and cry, cry when she was hungry, and cry when she was wet.
At first, Georgia Thorne never knew why she was crying. She would assume the baby was hungry, but she would just fuss and whimper while feeding. Only later would she realize the little one had a wet diaper.
Georgia Thorne’s stamina couldn’t keep up with such a demanding baby, leaving her drowsy every day.
The baby also cried often in the middle of the night, waking Georgia Thorne and Elliot Sheridan with her wails.
Georgia Thorne, eyes still closed, reached for the baby beside her. Elliot Sheridan turned on the light and said, "You get some more sleep. I’ll take care of her."
Georgia Thorne mumbled in agreement, and Elliot Sheridan carried the baby to the bathroom.
Every night, the little one needed a diaper change. After that, she had to have a full feeding before she would willingly go back to sleep.
Elliot Sheridan deftly changed the baby into a new diaper. When he returned to the bedroom, he saw that Georgia Thorne was sleeping fitfully.
As Elliot Sheridan got back into bed with the baby, Georgia Thorne woke up.
She reached out for the baby and expertly began to feed her.
Chinese New Year came just a few days after Nina Sheridan’s first-month celebration.
These past few days, many more guests and relatives than usual had been visiting the house.
The father and daughter pair, Carter Sheridan and Selena Sheridan, returned from abroad, bringing many gifts with them.
"Quick, let me see my little baby sister! Just seeing her in videos wasn’t enough!" The moment Selena Sheridan saw Georgia Thorne’s daughter, her heart melted. She quickly scooped up the baby and planted a few kisses on Nina’s cheeks. "Wow, she’s so cute!"
Elliot Sheridan cleared his throat, showing a rare moment of narcissism. "Well, look who her parents are!"
’She’s mine and Georgia’s, of course she’s beautiful!’
For a second, Selena Sheridan thought she had misheard. ’So my Second Uncle can actually make a joke!’
Selena Sheridan held the baby. "Little Nina, I’m your big sister! If your mom hadn’t married my Second Uncle, I could have been your godmother!"
Selena teased the baby, lovingly stroking Nina’s soft, pink cheeks. "But having a little sister is pretty great too."
Not only did she have a new little sister, but she also had a new little brother.
She looked over at Caden Sheridan and sincerely admired Georgia Thorne’s open-mindedness.
Caden Sheridan looked timidly at Selena Sheridan and called out, "Sister."
Selena Sheridan wrinkled her nose. "Your big sister brought you a gift too. I heard you’ve started learning to draw recently?"
Selena’s gift was a toy that a boy would like.
The toy looked very expensive. Caden Sheridan was a bit dazed, and his gaze drifted involuntarily toward Georgia Thorne.
Georgia Thorne smiled. "It’s a gift from your sister. Go ahead and accept it."
Carter Sheridan was much more generous than his daughter. He bought Nina a gold-lock necklace as a belated first-month gift, and he bought an identical one for Caden Sheridan.
For Chinese New Year, the house was full of people. Even Mr. and Miss Sheridan were staying over.
The two elders adored children. With the sounds of crying and laughter, the lively atmosphere finally made it feel like a home.
They had to stay up for the New Year’s Eve vigil, and Georgia Thorne collected quite a few red envelopes on behalf of the two little ones.
It had to be said, the Sheridan family members were all incredibly generous. The amount in a single red envelope was enough to make a person dizzy.
The baby had been fussing nonstop, and Sharon Ennis, seeing that Georgia wasn’t even able to eat properly, took the child from her.
She was only in her grandmother’s arms for a moment before the little one started crying again. Her wails immediately drew the attention of everyone in the dining room.
Georgia Thorne quickly scarfed down two more bites of food. "Nina’s probably hungry. I’ll go soothe her."
Georgia Thorne took the baby. The little one recognized her and stopped crying as soon as she was back in her mother’s arms.
She carried the baby upstairs. She had assumed the baby was hungry, but after trying to feed her for a good while, she realized the little rascal was just playing.
She wasn’t hungry at all. When Georgia Thorne stopped trying to feed her, the little one waved her arms and legs about and threatened to cry.
Georgia Thorne played with her in the bedroom for about an hour before Nina finally got hungry. She ate while lying in her mother’s arms, drifting off to sleep as she nursed.
The baby was difficult to settle. Sharon Ennis came upstairs. "Is Nina asleep?"
"She just fell asleep." Georgia Thorne carefully handed the baby to Sharon Ennis.
"I’ll watch her. You go downstairs and get something to eat."
This New Year’s Eve, it wasn’t just the Sheridan family at home. Elliot Sheridan had also personally invited Byron and Naomi Shaw.
When Georgia Thorne went downstairs, she saw Elliot Sheridan talking with Naomi Shaw. Both of them had serious expressions on their faces.
